Yeah exactly. Apparently he saved speedway in Swindon a few years ago but now he can't force them to build it. He's full of sh1te. Someone on the Adver comments said that Gaming were initially told to build the stadium before any houses were built but said they can't afford it without the funds from the housing. If that's true and SBC agreed to that then that decision has killed us. Why didn't SBC or Tomlinson do their research on Gaming before agreeing to that. £££££££££££££???????

2nd visit of the season from the Swindon 3. Track prep was better than Poole as no dust until late on. Scotty is certainly dialled in around that place. Some class outside passes when no one else could make it work out wide late on. Impressed by all the work that has been done to get Oxford going again. A bit jealous TBH. Good crowd again and it all seems to be going well for the boys down the road. See you in August for the Edinburgh meeting!

Same to Poole mate. A 2023 top flight with Swindon, Poole and Oxford in it is the absolute dream but it's never going to happen.

"Changes to Greyhound media rights in 2024 could well see Swindon losing a number of meetings. " I saw that someone had posted the above comment on the Adver story about the stadium. It could explain a lot because its always been said that the payments from the bookmakers has made the greyhounds profitable. If that income is lost then no need for the stadium. Delay the stadium build enough so we can't commit to 2023 and then say the greyhounds don't make it pay anymore and then they have the perfect excuse to apply for housing.

I would say they made enough money from the first batch to sit and wait a few years for the site to become a dump and then re-apply for planning permission for houses. No one on the council give a flying F about sport or leisure in Swindon. Good effort by everyone on Monday and it has got a fair bit of coverage in the media so if G.I still remain silent then that will tell everyone who still holds some hope that they should give up.

I think it's great that people are doing this but unfortunately I think all it will do is draw G.I and Tomlinson out of hiding and we will finally get the BS reason why it won't ever happen. We will then get a load of bluster from Tomlinson about how the council will support us looking for a new venue. Crooks the lot of em.

I've noticed that a few people on twitter have asked the question to Tomlinson about why the work has stopped and his response was that he didn't have an update. You would have thought someone who was so vocal about being part of saving speedway in Swindon would have wanted to see this through to the end but clearly not.

The save our speedway campaign has been done 2 or 3 times already and according to Tomlinson he had saved it!! But now he's gone quiet.

Yeah its fine for greyhounds as the home straight area is plenty big enough to house the few who attend those meetings. Anyone who thinks speedway is coming back now is deluded.

Yeah I know where you are coming from but I guess they are just sick of looking stupid when they release positive updates and nothing happens. Rosco even had that picture of him and Osborne together after planning permission was granted all those years ago!! Someone told me yesterday that water and electrics had been sorted but these can be used for housing as well. Will see if Tomlinson bothers to reply.

Don't think you can blame the club now TBF. They have made too many statements before and looked stupid. Tomlinson is a different matter though. Shouts his mouth off about saving speedway a few years ago but can't get a straight answer out of him when its bad news. Be interesting to see what BS he spouts when the housing planning permission comes in.

The main stand is still there as its going last apparently. Nothing a quick fire won't sort out.

No further progress in the last month or so. The site was quickly made unusable for speedway but now its been flattened no one has been seen on site for months. I have asked Tomlinson via twitter if he has an update on why the work has stopped but as he only replies when its apparent good news I don't expect he will reply. No doubt the vandals will ruin the site soon enough, fire incoming.

Obviously I hope so as well but after an initial flurry of work a few months ago it would appear nothing has happened in a while and no sign of anyone working on it the times I've driven past in the last few weeks. Weather been spot on so there shouldn't be any excuses for this. Just can't see it happening.

I was expecting the insects to be the reason why it couldn't be rebuilt! They would find some sort of rare type in there and they had to be protected! Wonder what BS excuse we will get now when it doesn't happen.

Drove past the stadium at the weekend and there doesn't seem to have been much progress in the last couple of months. I saw someone from the greyhounds say that work was expected to be finished around June time so no chance of that now and silence from all involved. They were obviously prepping the ground works for housing.

Enjoyed that. Impressed with some of the riders I hadn't seen before, Thomas and the Cook brothers. I'm sure the dust issue will be sorted after a few meetings. Glad to see Oxford back and dreaming of local derbies in the top flight next season!!

Can't ever imagine supporting any Oxford team TBF!! The scum comment was just a joke. Haven't seen live speedway since the Ipswich play off final in 2019 so just looking forward to going again!
