As I said unless they have been financially naive.... Pension rules are somewhat different for professional sportsman. (dependant on residency of course) Many are set up as Ltd companies I believe which gives them certain tax flexibilties. Brown envelopes of course have tax free contents as well.(winking smiley) All very different for those who are not / havent been top GP / international level riders granted. Much the same in relative terms as Premiership footballlers against League 1 journeymen. -

Unless they are very naive with their finances I cant imagine the likes of Greg, Tomasz and Jason needing to worry about having to earn another penny again. -

Thanks for that.Just goes to show how deceptive not being exactly in line can be! (and how difficult the refs job can be) -

The little camp mascot as you put it is of course the Aussie U21 champ and therefore the future. He is back from an injury that should by rights have seen his season written off and therefore struggles and low scores were expected. Scores like last night are a bonus. The track was dry and relatively slick which suits Tay's current physical capabilities. Doolan's low scores were answered with excuses - Tay's are down to a reason. The play offs were a matmatical hope only when the change was made in reality so a more long term view taken it seems. Heres hoping for 2 cup finals and at least 1 trophy to prove the choice to have been the right one. -

Anybody else think that the ref wasnt watching much of the time?? 4 big decisions - Tay not being disqualified in 2nd re-run heat 3 and the 3 line calls all wrong for me!! Evened out I suppose as 2-2 for each side. -

A slow burner that was less than inspiring entertainment on the whole. A few sparks here and there were just enough to keep you interested. A hard fought win and a reasonable lead. The tie could still go either way. -

Agreed he was but the lower end option needed if he joined wasnt which in my opinion would have left us weaker than the chosen route.Aljack would then have been bemoaning the willful waste of points at the top end leaving us exposed at reserve! -

Who?? Dont cop out and say thats not your job. Perhaps it was considered and there just wasnt anyone suitable. As a result you go with the best option available and take your chances. All speculation of course. -

But you werent saying it BEFORE the season - in fact ,as has been shown before, your pre seasons posts were rather glowing in their praise for the team assembled! -

I agree - only in hindsight does the plan look wrong. What is important is that it shows there isnt a stubborn/blinkered view to set up in only one way. Both top end strength or a balanced team can work. Its about the right blend and scope to improve. If it was easy then everyone would win the league and we all know that cant happen!
