totally agree - the aim should be for the averages to be as accurate a reflection of the true team strength as us possible. A mix of old and new would not do that. I think that ANY team that redeclares after May 1st should have ALL the riders awarded new figures in line with meetings/rides to date.

I think thats only for the start of the season. Will establish new Prem and Champ averges separately once the 4h 4a reached.

suggestions elsewhere have been that as the Witches moaned when it was wet and deep for the Cup match that Havelock tried to recreate the conditions and got it spectacularly wrong!! 😆

Youre right I dont think this reg has been invoked before but this season is a bit different. ALL riders will receive a new average from just their 2017 meetings. Had full rolling averages been in place there wouldve been a genuine average to use. Also should be taken into account that he missed the meeting in circumstances where no facility was available and not due to injury or for a meting considered acceptable within the regs. Berwick should not benefit to the tune of 2 points when redeclaring as a result of this scenario IMO.

Gappmaier should get the average if you dont make like for like switch. The points limit is a farce if not.

Interesting point of view.There is still a difference so surely must be some adjustment. 40/50 original build would be 1.25 for example. Most that have given it any thought have come up with this. The fact that it wasnt all set in the winter is the sad fact of the matter.

Hence my point about is the will there. This would mean most 2nd tier heat leaders and some second strings just riding the top league and therefore the 2nd tier being barely above current NL level. It would also require a significant proportion of current NL riders moving up to fill the gaps. The top teams would need to be paying those riders missing out on a 2nd league more to make it worthwhile. The 2nd tier would have the majority of teams wanting a higher standard product. The NL teams would be shafted with facilities for all missing riders which would be in many cases and unacceptable to them. Yes it should be the aim but right now its not feasible in reality whatever the raw numbers are.

totally agree that is the letter of the law so to speak.Perhaps harsh when a rider is suckered into moving but a correct decision within the rules.

Should be 42 after initial shake up. Any team averaging 40 is losing more than they win.

Thanks for the clarification. So the regs copy/pasted on other threads are wrong? Or has there been an amendment post season start? Either way it would then mean Berwick could build to 42 instead of 40 - 2 points higher so same difference.

initial declarations and changes prior to first set of averages are to 40.Once new averages earned/awarded then 42 for any redeclarations (or like for like only)

absolutely - and it may not this time. If not though Berwick could effectively build to a new team total of 44 rather than 42.

in which case if you make further changes that arent like for like that should be applied
