  1. Lots of debate about the pros and cons of having the top riders as part of the offering Below is link to an interesting view as to why cricket's 'The Hundred' has not captured the fans imagination https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DdVaFxxXD/
  2. You coukd turn the world upside down and the batch of riders available would be tiny!
  3. I don't think anyone will argue that its right to prioritise your family over everything However this situation doesnt seem to have just appeared out of nowhere at tea time and as a professional sportsman the very least expected would be timely communication Informing the club only 2/3 hours before tapes up is unacceptable Perhaps a bit more controversial/devil's advocate observation. Could the fact that he couldn't find any help from family/friends be linked to his general attitude and apparent ease of falling out with people? (Pure conjecture on my part)
  4. If considered withholding services it should be 28 days If accepted as a non speedway injury/illness type situation it should be 7 days
  5. Gotta feel for Batch - scapegoated on this one
  6. Tend to agree but a Play Off semi would at least bring a few quid into the coffers An enhanced attendance coukd also encourage Mayfield as to what is possible if they get the product right
  7. Congrats to Leicester - as the saying goes "you can only beat what is put in front of you" The fact than the aggregate difference was only 10 despite 2 hugely contrasting performances from what turned out to be the key man on each side is quite staggering Huge well done to Drew with 25 paid 26 from 12 rides who was superb. Undoubtedly his best performances of his career Conversely it was so very sad to see Tom limp to 7 paid 8 from 8 with those 7 third places coming from finishing ahead of 3 fallers, 2 team mates, a race retirement and a career retirement The manber of his performances was more worrying than the scores themselves It seems to me that Tom is suffering psychologically - he was leading or in a position to challenge in a good number of the heats and looked to dip out at the vital point Speedway just like most top level sport is small margins whether it be machinery or between the ears Perhaps almost a bigger disappointment for me was Lawson not on the truck and already changed This was the top leagues Cup Final. The presentations are as much as the racing the 'kodak moments' (showing my age 😁) the sport can use to promote itself and we have one the teams top riders missing the presentation and then belatedly pulling a t-shirt over his civvies for a picture Like it or not ultra professionalism on the media side is vital if we are to drag the sport back into the spotlight and secure sponsorship and coverage
  8. Any lingering doubts as to whether the Witches could pull off a miracle must surely now be over The withdrawal of the underperforming, average sliding second string (was soon to be reserve) means A) An in form horses for courses guest or B ) RR where a heat leader can take 1 and rampant, improving reserve (soon to be second string) 2 of his rides Congratulations Leicester
  9. Haven't seen a graveyard gate 4 like that for a long time - a bit bizarre really A freakish Drew Kemp performance was the difference between the draw we got and the Witches picking up the 10+ win to make it interesting - as simple as that
  10. Prepare it as we want and tell them to go do one if they don't like it! 🙂
  11. I'm hopeful of a 10-12 point Witches win Around that would at least make it interesting Leicester strong favourites overall Game on!
  12. I was expecting to go down by 20+ Sheffield is a place where a string of 3 4 5 consecutive 1-5 heats can slip by very easily Neither happened so I felt it was decent That 1 extra point could be vital - no need for the super heat next time 😉
  13. I posted what I believed is ideally required not what is realistic or possible
  14. Stop doubling up Either A) One big league B ) Make Premiership exclusive contracts (likely would need tv and sponsorship) If riders could only ride in one and the Premiership was paying more then the Championship would have to adjust its level to a true 2nd tier or teams could choose to move up
  15. 100% - nothing wrong with his on track contribution
  16. To be fair thinking Kings Lynn are pathetic is generally good logic
  17. When you're not being paid it must be hard to be positive and motivated (especially if you're not not known for a jolly demeanour )
  18. Will play devil's advocate here If he didn't think it was dangerous why agree to tyre pack? If he thought it would make it worse why agree to tyre pack? Do many referees really have any clue about a track? Would he have called it off if Ipswich refused to tyre pack? Would Leicester have refused to ride? If that's how the Witches want the track then it should be that way - it's not up to the opposition! I say that they should've called their bluff....
  19. You only have to sit out 7 days for a non speedway injury and where you were replaced by a facility Simply still not fit
  20. Baked beans on toast tonight for you then
  21. Don't telll Buster but there has just been a short light shower in Ipswich and there's a possibility it's heading Morth as I type Everyone Shhhhh!!
