Kings Lynn World Cup 9 July
A ORLOV replied to steve19620's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well done Britain, did better than I thought they would and without the mechanical problems we may have won. The meeting was as good as the one on Sat and a credit to the sport. I now have no idea who will win on thursday but with a performance like that of tonight we stand a chance. I just wish we still had the Internationals, as GB v Aus or USA used to be as good. Looking forward to thursday and sat. -

GB needs points tonight, Danny continually scores a lot more than Ben, both at home and away. -

British Semi-finals Line-up
A ORLOV replied to mdmc82's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Alan I can see that, but my point was more about the lineups, start time, cost of tickets etc. In events it has details of the British Final but nothing about the Semi's. -

So we have no mention on the BSPA website of the meeting being cancelled and the Rye website that is called up from the Pemier League section is also wrong. That is very good public relations especially for the people who do not visit the forum as I cannot find any mention of this meeting on the BSPA site. -

This whole episode appears to be a complete shambles. Why try to run this meeting when the riders clubs are racing, surely there would be a date when all eligible riders are not riding elsewhere. We now have the situation where Simon Stead rode at Swindon instead of this Semi final, now the meeting has been cancelled will he be able to ride when the meeting is rerun. I accept that Simon chose to ride at Swindon but that should not exclude him from any rerun. -

The Swindon website just says he is riding at Swindon on thursday against Lakeside, there is no mention of his switching to Rye but hopefully he is. -
Speedway World Cup 2012

Following last nights meeting it showed that Niel made the correct choice in selecting Tai over Ben Barker. Unfortunately I still cannot see us getting beyond Thursday. -

Rico Memorial Meeting
A ORLOV replied to Sprog1's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
It should be easy to sort out SCB as the numbers who will want to attend this meeting will be enormous, the last thing you want is to travel from say Somerset, or Glasgow and then not get in because H&S have put a limit on the numbers allowed. Each club will have a crowd limit, as designated by the Council. All Lakeside needs to do is have ticket sales only available up to a certain date before the meeting. If people do not purchase a ticket they take a chance on the day. The number of tickets sold could be put on the Lakeside Website so people not purchasing tickets can decide on the day. -

Probably be a good idea to try to run a coach from Swindon for this. Also the ability to purchase entry tickets before the meeting. -
Would like to see GB in the final but cannot see them getting there. Have looked at the make up of the competition and with the following schedule and the riders GB has it is going to be very difficult. Event 1 winner to final. This is likely to be Poland but Denmark will push them hard and may even pull out a surprise. Event 2 winner to final. This is likely to be Australia if Ward, Holder,Crump and probably Watt are the team choice. Event 3 winner to final. This meeting will probably see GB against either Denmark or Poland. Cannot see GB winning this one. Sweden seeded to final. It comes back to the problem that at the moment GB does not have world beating riders, in a few years maybe but not now.

Tough meeting for the Brits when you look at the riders that Australia and Denmark have. Will be interested to see if MJJ happens to have shed his Virus for this. -

A ORLOV replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With the first few heats at both the GPs to date needed to sort out the track, would it be a good move to have the reserves and or a few good young riders racing on the track, say for four races, before the main meeting starts. I seem to remember I saw some youngsters racing at one of the meetings at Cardiff but cannot recall if they went out before or during the main meeting. Apart from the first few heats a very good GP, lost a few pounds on AJ, but congratulations to Chris Holder. -
