  1. When we last had a world champion, I cannot remember any acknowledgement of this on any tv sports programme, and very little in the press. If it happens, no matter how small the sport is get it mentioned everywhere. Certain radio stations are now putting out speedway and doing a very good job, the authorities need to do all they can to publicise any success we have. I wonder how many sports reps of the national press, radio and tv have been given tickets to Cardiff. If not Cardiff try the EL riders Championship at Swindon.
  2. It has been announced on the news this evening that the Planned strike of staff who work at the toll booths on the Severn Bridges has been suspended therefore the bridges will be open on Friday and Saturday. I would still check before you leave.
  3. If they are all delivered by courier thats fine and a more reliable service.
  4. The way the post service is working at the moment if not received a week before the event I would contact them and collect them at the Stadium.
  5. Very good meeting to celebrate Simons service to speedway. Chris (Mario) Holder's bike packed up before the start and he shared a bike with Darcy for the meeting. Excellent close racing from the top riders which got better as the track improved, the passing was breathtaking as riders used different lines around the track. Jason mixed it with the top riders and put in a very good performance. Matej was welcomed back by the crowd and in heat 19 showed what he could do, despite finishing 2nd to Chris Holder. In heat 7 Darcy came out on Simons bike and posted the fastest time of the night while having time to look right when passing the pits and making faces, then on the next lap waving. Following this Simons performance improved, he was riding very fast and not locking up. Hans was on fire and very smooth around the track and deserved to win the meeting. A big thank you to all the riders who produced excellent racing, and the meeting guy on the mike, can we have him back as he was a riot, especially when he took the p..s out of Rosco for the shirt he was wearing.
  6. Weather fine and dry at 11am and has been the same all morning. Most of the riders there tonight ride well at the Abbey which should lead to some very good racing. Looking forward to seeing the Zagarmeister.
  7. By the reports on here I am glad I watched the Olympics instead of this meeting. I tend now to pick and choose the GP meetings I watch live since watching a few this year a couple have been boring.
  8. Because they window shop on the way, the same as they do while driving
  9. Any publicity like that is good, it may bring in a few rugby supporters to see what this sport is about.
  10. Very good post orion, I am looking forward to this meeting and Simon deserves it. The line up is already good and there are more riders to be announced.
  11. I think you are correct trees, it is a pity that a couple more could not have been arranged, but due to rain offs and riding schedules a one off is understandable. Have always enjoyed meetings between nations, official or not.
  12. The view is fine from the top of the stands. What you will find is that once the meeting starts you will be able to move within the section and quite often nearer the track if you wish. You can do this in most areas but possibly not near the start/finish line, One year we were sat on the bend in front of a large group of Polish supporters who had not only been drinking all day, but also during the whole meeting. They were quite friendly but not all the beer was reaching their mouths. We along with a few others moved to the back of the stand.
  13. Looking to be a meeting not to miss Iffoid, will be there especially with Matej Zagar riding, and all the rest.
  14. Chris holder and Darcy Ward are riding, a good meeting to attend and for a worthy rider
  15. The local councils determine the capacity along with, I assume, advice from the elf and safety brigade. Swindons current limit is about 5000 where as in the past crowds have been 2 to 3 times that for test matches. I would imagine the limit is controlled by a number of factors from the number of emergency exits the stadium has and the time it takes for everybody to get out to the number of toilets it has.
  16. How many spectators can Coventry hold, and what are the facilities like.?
  17. I fully agree xmas. I know of one very good youngster who when possible is going to Denmark to get the racing experience. I am sure that he, along with others, would benefit from an 80cc league in the UK. I can remember seeing the sons of riders going round a small track but not allowed to race with each other. Other countries have progressive engine size leagues and this is where the majority of the good riders are coming from.
  18. Thats the name of the pension fund that the accountants set up for the great rider Ove Fundin. As for Denmark winning the World Cup congratulations to them. They included very good young riders who showed what they could do and NP showed up the stupidity of the rules. The joker should either be got rid of or only allowed when 8 or 10 behind. There should be a reserve, or two, who can only take a limited number of rides,
  19. Well done Matt, pity it is not part of a series but with the GPs and the number of rain offs I can understand why it is a one off. The test matches in the past were brilliant and are sadly missed.
