Having just read this I contacted a relative who is high up in the headquarters of a pub chain. Following the outcome of the court case many pubs and clubs now subscribe to broadcasters abroad and receive and show Sky in English for a fraction of the price that Sky charge in the uk. It seems there is nothing Sky can do about it apart from not supply the channels to European broadcasters, but I cannot see Sky doing that. Sky may try to claim that they own the copyright of a logo etc but there is no law against a foreign broadcaster putting out a signal that a UK customer can pick up. If Sky claim they own transmission rights of their channels in the uk they will have to take that up with the European TV companies they supply. It would be interesting to find out just how many pubs and clubs have cancelled their payments to Sky but still show it via a European supplier.

Tai Woffinden
A ORLOV replied to David Haddock's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Another brilliant performance by Tai, he did not take it easy, and built up his lead over the rest to 20 points. -
I bet all the African and Asian Speedway Federations are furious about this.

Look up updates on it, you are joking. TWK has only just worked out how to use the phone. Same here Ian. I do like the sound of the new ideas for the younger and those older fans who are technically minded, I will continue to use the phone for ringing people up and the computer for the internet .

It was stated that at the moment the meeting next monday will be BV Poole but this is subject to change, so they could revert to Swindon Lakeside.Swindon may revert to the thursday only when it is confirmed that the meeting being shown is BV Poole. It would be mad running on an off night and against BV Poole on the tv.
-
Al they announced tonight that the meeting next monday will be BV - Poole and not Swindon, but the BV - Poole is subject to change. No doubt they look to see if Lakeside win at KL on wed then decide. The change is a b....r as Swindon are racing that night, so will have to look for sky replay on the tues.

Poole Lakeside Sep 2nd Swindon Lakeside Sep 9th Both were in the live speedway listings a couple of weeks ago, but are now missing. The sports schedule shows Poole Lakeside tomorrrow on sky4, and as far as I am aware the meeting at Swindon is still due to be shown.

Wild Cards 2014
A ORLOV replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Darcy is likely to end up in top eight. Since his return he has out scored Gollob at each GP and Holder is not going to add any more points. Holder 82 Gollob 73 Ward 68 If he does not he is well worthy of a wild card. -

Italian Gp Saturday 3rd August
A ORLOV replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I had a chuckle last night when one of the commentators said it was a good crowd. He must have meant behaviour as I have seen a larger crowd at a watching paint dry competition. Well done PUK and another great performance by Tai. -
The Doctor I have had the story and picture emailed to me, if you or someone can explain in english how to post it on here I will. John Leslie the new stadium is next to the existing one.
-
The current stadium is in a different place to the present stadium and will not be demolished until the new one is built and there will be minimal if no disruption to the racing. Also there is plenty of land to build hundreds of houses between the road system and the stadium. The story and picture about the stadium and parking was in the local paper on about July 18th and was not on the papers website. Anyone in Swindon could look at the records in the local paper office or library and confirm the story. I just wish someone could pull the story and picture across to this thread. The Doctor, hit the link icon, paste in the link etc, what is all that, I have enough problems turning the bl##dy computer on. I have just contacted the local paper and they hope to get back to me with a link to the story and picture.

Gemini let me assure you this is not an early April fool story. If I knew how to link this to the plans it would show you the access route across the track and the parking places on the centre green.

50p a visit, now thats a great idea, thanks, could also provide tea ,beer and food to those parked on the centre green.

Agree, very good and thanks for link to old Speedway information.
