Poole Pirates Vs Swindon Robins B Fixture 01/06/16
A ORLOV replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was only thinking about a GB - Aus test last night at Swindon while watching 7 Aussie riders from two teams. There are probably more Aussie riders in the UK at the moment than there are back in Aus. One meeting at Poole, one at Swindon and one or two elsewhere. If the top riders are tied up on the continent in June then run an under 25 or whatever. Poole has no more meeting in June and Swindon has two individual weeks with no meetings. -

Weather report, now bright and sunny but a reasonable north east wind could make it cold later on. -

As it does in the pub I watch it in, Speedway on big screen and kicking a bag of air about on small screen with the sound off so you cannot hear the comments. -

Now await some optimist claiming England may get through to the play offs, or is it there are a lot of Romanian and Albanians living in Poole who go to speedway? -

http://www.swindonrobins.co/news.php?extend.2690 Leicester have two guests in Richard Lawson and Brady Kurtz and with A Summers and N Klindt Leicester could do well. The robins need to get going from heat 1 tonight and not, like on monday and last night, let the opposition build up a lead. What is up with the team since the change in line up, are they not able to gate, asleep at the start of the meeting, or not setting up their bikes properly, anyone any ideas. We have got to get back to a big win tonight and again on Saturday against Leicester. I also hope they have sorted out a new hose pipe so they can keep the dust on the track down. -

What is the track and weather like down there as one forecast has rain from 2pm till 7pm?. -
Someone needs to get onto Thames Water and check if the pressure in the area can be increased. It may be a supply issue or just a pipe size issue that is restricting the pressure and volume coming through. Ironically there is a reservoir on the top of Blunsdon Hill about half a mile from the stadium, but that may supply North Blunsdon.

No next GP is on 11th, but there must be something on the 3,4 or 5 of June. -
There is a brief comment about the issue of water supply pressure in the Blunsdon Blog Mad dogs and Englishmen on the Swindon Speedway website, and I think I recall comments before about the water pressure issue at the stadium. Since they have been building the houses, recently the water pressure in the area of the track is sometimes down and the speed at which the water tanker etc can be filled is slow, so there does seem to be a water supply problem. They do have water tanks at the stadium but once they have been emptied, again there would be a supply speed issue. I am not sure if this is a local issue that can be resolved easily or if it is a result of the building of thousands of houses in Swindon without increasing the water supply to the town. There may be a blog being prepared about the meeting which may give more details about the track. Edit - Blog about the meeting and the day now available " A close run thing"

What are they checking bags for, someone bringing in a bomb or an elicit bag of crisps ? -
Not a good meeting for Swindon, Charles had massive bike problems and needs to get something sorted for the rest of the week. As I suggested our heat leaders Justin and Rohan struggled and along with a few exclusions all of which cost us the win. Impressed with Stefan with two good wins. Hope Adam is ok after his big off and check up on his way home. So congratulations to Poole and hope we can sort out the heat leader problem asap.

It is not if, we do have Rohan and Justin as heat leaders, this is down to the stupidity of this new system. Luckily we have a strong 2 and 4 which makes up for it. As DunRobin says a clever club will try to work it that they have a good rider ready to become a reserve for the play offs, but not sure if this is the cause of C Holders form as it is too early in the season to work the reserve averages.

Agreed, it would make sense to reduce the pre booked price in order to reduce the need for ticket selling staff and queues. The club are not having to count up and bank the money plus they have an indication of numbers of fans coming so there is a saving.
