British Final
A ORLOV replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Congratulations to Danny King, have not seen him ride like that for ages. If any team needs a guest at BV Danny must be the first choice. Shocking decision by ref re Garrity starts, apart from the first one, they were ok, the problem was the lag in the centre of the tapes going up. Jason opened the clutch when the lifting device on the gate started moving and the camera showed the tapes bending. The tapes need to be tighter. ARosco has stated his choice for TWC has been made easy but I wonder if he needs to see the four in the final plus a couple of others ride there on a drier track, as who knows what the track will be like when TWC comes round. Kings Lynn are due at BV on July 1st so that is an opportunity to see how Robert Lambert performs again So is the team going to be Tai plus the four in the final, with S.Worrall at reserve. The Poles, Danes and Russians are going to love that track, the WTC should be brilliant. -

There have been no reports about Nick Morris yet, so not sure if he is riding. -

Don't hold your breath Sid at the moment the weather does not look too good for thurs, and our next meeting is July 4th. -
It does not help having a week without a meeting but when we have breaks of two or three weeks that becomes a major problem. If every team rode on a thurs then the likely hood would be only one home and away meeting with each team, as with 8 teams two meetings each would be 28 thursdays, not allowing for rain offs, WTC etc.
-
If it was a choice between some or no speedway ok but only running one night a week means one home meeting a fortnight. I think many will find other things to do, especially when you get a few rain offs and speedway could then be once a month.

Unfortunately the weather does not look good for this, I hope it changes but at the moment rain is due from late afternoon. -
Should not be a problem providing people get there in plenty of time.

You will be able to share the track at Swindon

More boring than F1 but that is because F1 does not have one person running away with the title. F1 has been more boring in the past when the result was known after the first couple of laps. The electric version would be better with longer lasting batteries and they need to be able to overtake more often. It seems to be very follow the leader. I am not sure if the lack of overtaking is down to the battery use or the width of most of the tracks, have they run one on a normal racing circuit yet? I agree with you that the development of the F1 cars is very expensive and that since the future will be either electric or hydrogen powered vehicles that they should be being developed and raced more often.

Should Ex Riders Get Into Speedway Free?

That is down to the promoter to either control or allow. Talking of freeloaders you would be surprised how many wives, children and friends certain promoters bring with them to other clubs. -

Nick and Josh are back as heat leaders from 13th June with Justin and Rohan dropping back to 2 and 4, this should get us back to our winning ways just in time for Lakeside and Coventry. -
They are not an asset, they could retire, get injured or go off and ride abroad instantly.

Threat To The Elite League
A ORLOV replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I do think the EL could be on its last legs and I would not object to a larger PL, but can anyone see any common sense coming from the promoters or would the promoters of the current EL clubs cause chaos in any new organisation. Do not discount Swindons future yet. -

Swindon have usually done this and every club should do it when Sky is present. -
So why when he was voted in at the end of the meeting, by the way an arse about face way of doing things, did he not call for a reflection period and then call another meeting to sort out the rules that has just been voted in and even some of the other ill thought out ones.

At the moment the use of public transport to get from town to the stadium is a joke. There are only two buses that go past the stadium at about 6 and 6.30pm, others go near during the day, but there is no public transport from or near the stadium back into the town after the meetings. The use of buses to the stadium is not a bad idea but could be costly for the club if not many use them. They have got to be cheap and cover different parts of the town if they want to encourage car users to switch. In fact public transport could be an advantage in getting youngsters to the meetings, something they cannot do at the moment unless they either walk t the stadium or get a lift from their parents. One of the problems with the Council is their continual thoughts that people will use public transport, while the prices are high they will not. Just look at the cock ups they made with the park and ride schemes, they cost a fortune to set up and apart from very few people that now use the one at Wroughton, the other one in Cricklade Road and others proposed have been closed or cancelled. We have the same with the hospital, these same idiots in the Council wanted and claimed people would go there by public transport but they keep the bus prices high and then they wonder why people drive. In many cities throughout Europe public transport is very cheap and people use it in there thousands.
