  1. Complete fantasy land thinking.
  2. Yes I have a similar memory of all that ... The belle vue meeting after the world final would have dragged the 85 average up ... On its own it must have been 5000+,
  3. As some one else has stated the crowd for the 85 belle vue meeting was quite a bit more than half of 6385. But the rest of your post is spot on and just bolsters my opinion that a return to The Shay in the nineties was NEVER a realistic possibility no matter what others are saying now, due to the changes already occurring to the configuration; and greater changes in the planning process as well.
  4. I don't doubt that. But I still don't believe that Calderdale ever made any form of real offer for Speedway to go back; in preference to the North and South stand construction in 1997ish that squared off the stadium for football and rugby. That was the only plan on the table.
  5. That's just it ... I don't think ANYTHING along those lines came within a million miles of the narrative at the time, as far as Calderdale were concerned.
  6. I was thinking of something a little more factual than 'somebody from Halifax (I think it was the council)' ... Doesn't really add to my understanding at all
  7. Please can you give more details on this offer ... I have no memory of ever hearing of this at the time or since.
  8. Just looking at the latest updates from the work being done at Odsal shows it could easily become an option for Speedway of some sort over the next few years. No way is it a Cardiff or Wembley but as a Stadium capable of holding 20,000 with a track in situ it is a no-brainer that it is only a matter of time before something does happen.
  9. NO you stated that there was a capacity crowd at Wembley in 1970 ... And that was complete fantasy. ... But because the 40 k made a lot of noise it misled you. And 40k at Cardiff making a he'll of a lot of noise ... That is some sort of failure. La La land.
  10. But it just shows that you are talking fantasy numbers ... About today and about 1970.
  11. There was nothing like a capacity crowd at Wembley for the WTC Final in 1970. Estimates in the Star put it at 40k ...
  12. Article written by the guy who has been pushing his new book for a few weeks. Pretty bland and superficial look at the sport, which in the most part could have been written by a blindfolded schoolchild at any point in the last twenty five years.
  13. No, not the track. Haven't you been or seen it ?
  14. Not Peter Duncan. Before his time. Christopher Wenner is the guy. The clip has been on here before. Larry Ross did not appear in the Blue Peter Studio. Ivan Mauger did, about 1973.
  15. Startrax have announced ticket availability and pricing for the Stock Car World Final later in the year. That will be their major focus beyond the big task of getting the place ready for opening night. And with a two day final where tickets are £39 per night to stand it should be a pay day that will make all his hard work worthwhile.
  16. I have no idea. But do you know how many will be allowed in Poland ?
  17. I know Rossiter tries to look like a teenager. But does he really need to come across as a petulant adolescent in his public statements too ?
  18. Good grief personal service to the door, ahead of the expected time, and some people moan. You just want to throw in the towel and tell them to sod off.
  19. A cunning disguise ! They are hoping that no one will notice its in Russia. Clever lot at BSI.
  20. If GM had a winnable case that they would not be sending out pointless letters or issuing unenforceable threats. Pretty pathetic.
  21. You are discussing the wrong part of the statement. League Speedway will be governed by the 50% or 4000, whichever is lower. Which would be fine for most except a 'bumper' bank holiday crowd Cardiff would be a different matter ... perhaps July will be under different rules ?
  22. From my completed programme Max Schofield replaced Wayne Garratt in Heat 13 and finished fourth. Garratt is recorded as 'EX' for that race which (as he was replaced by a reserve ) probably means two minutes exclusion.
