  1. In the end we got a point, but have to be disappointed after starting so well. Garrity and Joonas stood out for the Bees, who, for me looked vulnerable at times. King, Hans and Harris had their moments but Sarj and Summers appeared to have struggled. But Garrity at reserve must be a Godsend to any-team.... Well done to the Stars on the point gained, a good team performance, one that can be even bettered... come the PO's..
  2. I'd take a point now!!!!!! Hard place too go this year and get something.. If the STARS all shine bright and Coventry go missing we might BEE lucky
  3. It appears that way, there's always people to moan whatever the decision. Some moan when the Sun's out, some moan when its in, Some like it to rain others will moan whatever the reason...... That's the way it is in this country......... Shame though.......
  4. I was wrongly informed we play Coventry at home next week. Obviously a mistake, as you say
  5. Unfortunately some riders are on contract per meeting and not on points or start costs........ Nowadays the riders hold all the aces........
  6. I have often wondered what sort of world you live in. You always come across as someone, forceful, very opinionated and can never see other peoples views. You argue all discussions as though they are a battle and believe you always win. Thank the world I am not like you. I don't judge people, and unlike you, I don't impose my views on others. Contrary to what you say, I travel near and far to watch speedway, because I enjoy watching the action and excitement, Not like you, who posted that last week was your first meeting this year. I go to these meetings to watch whoever, If as you say 'it is crap,' I would only go to meeting where Lynn would win, and I can assure you that is not the case. I have even travelled to see Leicester ride against Coventry this year, so please don't judge me as you have done. I too have voiced my dislike to the ht10 rule many times, and have call it many things. But it exists and the BSPA rule meetings with this effect. 5 or 6 meetings this year have been decided this way, so whether I agree with it or not that's the way it is. I understand the implication of these decisions, but apparently you don't. I will say again, had the Referee delayed his decision 1min to run Heat 10, the meeting would have been done and dusted. No not ideal, but at least it wouldn't be an issue trying to set dates for the rerunning of the fixture. You said in a previous post the score was irrelevant as to the safety of the track, I agree with that comment, but it was relevant to the situation the other night. Had Leicester been close enough to have gained a point or so, then Doyle would have been first to the tapes, knowing the chances of finishing the meeting was nil. so yes the scores were relevant in that instance. So rather then stand there preaching about right and wrong of other people, I suggest to get down from your soap box and see the world for what it is..... You'll see they're are some really nice people out there,......... all with different views.......
  7. Same as with Kenneth Bjerre, Hans Andersen wiIl drop to a 2nd string as from tomorrow, (01-08-15). So the matches next week at the AFA should be interesting. Footnote: This new race format that pairs heat leaders against each other sure makes some the CMA look strange. Both Hans and Kenneth have rode better in the past but surely they can't be class as 2nd strings?? Not in a league while world talent is thin on the ground......... Strange......
  8. Probably after last nights result, Poole will pick Swindon, so either way we could finish up facing Coventry......
  9. Please excuse me!! But what is the reasons given for not allowing Wilko to signs for the Lions?? I thought that was the best I'd seen Porsing ride. he was manic and brilliant, provided most to the entertainment last night. I think you are confusing his flamboyant style as being out of control, but he's made a great improvement of late......
  10. For someone who wasn't even there you seem to know quite a bit, and as usual very opinionated . You mentioned above, that the updater detailed Lewis Kerr being uninterested in heat 9 and the time was slower, such a shame they didn't mention that Nicklas Porsing missed the gate and raced from 4th to second and showed the track was racable. Just because Kerr didn't fancy it, it is wrong to make judgement on that fact alone. Of cause the time was slower, but I remember back in '77 that Ivan Mauger won a world final in far worst conditions than last night..... If you weren't so quick in judging people, you would realise it wouldn't bother me if we won lose or draw. To me that's not important. I understand the logic and the implications needed to refund the punters and to arrange another date when everyone is available to ride. and that's not easy, and something that was totally unnecessary. All I said was had the referee understood the implications of his decision, that another 1 min of racing, would have reached an amicable conclusion, when the result stood, no replay would be needed and the promoter would have no refunds to pay........ Surely even you can understand that.........In a world where Promoters are feeling the pinch and falling by the wayside, the last thing we want is to witness another abortion of what happens last night.....
  11. Although I thought Poole would win, I expected a much closer affair than that. This was not what Rosco wanted, and come play-off time he will want better than that shown last night. After watching Darcy on the tele Tuesday night, when he was awesome, was surprised he failed to win a single race.... That's the way it is sometimes....
  12. Let me first explain, I detest the 10 ht rule and feel its just a rip-off, invented to be exploited whenever possible.. It is my belief a meetings can be called off at any time if the situation becomes necessary, and award Points and Refunds on a percentage basis of the meeting done. ie. 'Meeting called a halt after ht 7 then Half points are awarded to the winning team and the punter gets half his money Refunded'. But that is not the way its done, and meetings will be rushed through to get to that cut-off point. What happened last night was not about VFM, it was not about right or wrong, it was not even about the inconsistency of the decision makers. To me it was one person making a decision with scant regard for anything, least of all the sport.. He had no thought for the 2000 fans, He made no allowance for the problem of reorganising a rerun of the fixture. The problems his decision has created is ridiculous. caused by his lack of responsibility to the people that employ him. Only one man complained about the track condition at that time. Had Mr Dave Robinson ( Ref) been as efficient as some then the meeting would have be concluded. We are talking about an extra 1 min of racing, for this meeting to have reached an amicable end. Yet Mr Robinson decided to go walkabouts, so he could talk with the rider concerned. The amount of time wasted talking to the riders, inspecting the track we could have run another 3 or 4 races..... No this was a wicked example of how a meeting should not run, Inevitable heavy Rain forecast, Late meeting start, Pointless riders parade, Slow procedure of heats , No urgency shown through-out. Lack of competition, No appreciation shown to the fans.... No one who was at that meeting would support the Ref on the way he did his job, It wasn't the fact the meeting was called off, but how he ignored the three riders on the track just because one rider refuse to ride. When time was of the essence, he wasted precious time leaving his post. In the end with the rain falling the decision was inevitable.......
  13. The whole issue of all what happened tonight was the inconsistent decisions when the Referee is asked to officiate. Seeing what has happened in previous problems, at other venues, regarding the dreaded heat 10 rule, it has become an excepted practise to run those ten heats then call the meeting to end. Whether this be right or wrong it has become a precedent, set by those in charge. Tonight we had a one sided affair, Leicester trailing some 13points adrift, they having played their TR, with not a hope in hell of getting anything from this meeting, when the expected rains began to fall. Disappointed, as there were only 2 and half races to go to get to Ht10, I knew the meeting would be cut short. Heat 8 finished, then heat nine was run. by this time the rain was falling, but not hard enough for people to leave their uncovered seats in the Royal Box. The riders had come to the start for ht 10, when the ref left his box to go to the pits. Apparently Dolye was refusing to ride saying it was unsafe. To everyone dismay the Ref then called the meeting off, although there were 3 riders at the tapes waiting to start. I don't blame Doyle for his petty actions, Why should he have to clean those sparkling leathers, or wash his bike down. in a meeting they had already lost. The biggest problem here was the Gutless Ref. The fact he had been slow all night and took forever to call the next heats was irrelevant. Had he been man enough, he would have told Doyle while there were riders willing to race then the meeting continues, and placed him on 2mins. Instead he left his post to talk with Dolye. It took him longer to get down those stairs and walk to the pits then it would have taken to run the race. As it is now, the meeting has to run again. All the riders will have to make arrangements in their busy schedule to fit in another meeting. . The promoter will have to refund monies they can ill afford. Hoping that the fans who weren't pissed off the first time will come back for a second helping that quite honestly wasn't very competitive or compelling meeting at the first asking. And all for the sake of the Ref 's inability to do his job sensibly . One heat would have solved all those issues. Safety was never a factor. If tonight convinces a couple of fans to stay away, then the damage done is massive......... This sport need events like this like a hole in the head. The fans want to support the sport but decisions like this make it very hard. I approached the Ref later, to ask of his reason to call the meeting off , and his reply was: 'The meeting was late in starting, and, had we been on time, we would have got to an conclusion.' ..... Fair comment,............. but hardly the reason to abandon the meeting...... surely...????? To me the Ref created the whole sorry scenario........
  14. Your confused??? , I totally crap that one up, me getting two topics cross-threaded....... Big apologies..... SORRY.... . Obviously been watching too much Speedway of late. Think its about time I switched off abit..........
  15. If like you say, he was withdrawn because of concussion, then for medical reasons he won't be allowed to ride within 7 days....... But bearing in mind Sarjeant is top of the tier 2 Draft list, I can see quite a few names available, who ride the AFA really well...... So it wouldn't be a too bigger loss, if that was the case...... It all depends on the reason given for his withdrawal..
  16. Wow , what a tremendous speedway meeting. Every race was contested by current , existed and future SGP riders . All those posters who said Hancock was boring and couldn't pass, tonight, he really made them comments look stupid. Tonight he was CLASS personified........... A true World Champion, who stood head and shoulders above a truly quality field..............
  17. Strange fixture this, in that the result is not directly as it seems. Coventry, as league leaders will have the choice of opponents come the play off, and the chances are they will choose the Stars. Many thinking we are the weakest of the top four, would assume we are easy to beat. So this match has a big relevance on peoples opinion. Most teams come to the AFA with relish, knowing they will be able to compete. I'm sure Coventry, as with all the others, have no worries riding at Lynn, whereas when the Stars travel away, they are sometimes, not close affairs. So the dilemma facing Rob in this match, do we go there with an eye on the Play-off's not giving nothing away, or go with all guns blazing, knowing if we put up a good show, they might not fancy is come PO's. To go to Brandon this year and win is difficult, but possible. We would need all our riders on top form, and all the luck going. If that is what's required, then I would rather it be in the Playoffs' than for 3 points that at the end of the day means very little.....
  18. That's the biggest problem when you have to use guests, they're not many available, even when their average does fit. Especially now that most riders are on similar scores, attained through variable degrees of difficulties.... Based of reality, the problem is that there are too many teams and not enough riders to go around. Too many teams using the same riders, basically to many 'Double uppers' Once, one of your riders gets injured, the teams fortunes are in the lap of the gods..... This is not a moan, merely an observation ....
  19. Whichever way you look at it Garrity had 3 extra rides. Robson injury meant he was replaced by the reserve riders, (i.e Sarjeant and Garrity). Bearing in mind Sarjeant would have had only 3 rides any way, it was only the manipulations from Havvy on who took, what rides. The facts are Garrity scored Pd 8 from his extra rides, and without the injury to Robson he would not had been able to have done that. I'm not criticising anybody, merely pointing out that Lakeside's injury to riders was felt more then that to Coventry's...... If it wasn't for the 5 points given to the Bees in heat 12 they would have lost.........
  20. Enjoyed the racing, but the incidents and tapes certainly took its toll on proceedings. . Never been a lover of the Lakeside track, but it created an exciting spectacle and a close match. Obviously talented, I have always had a problem with the recklessness of Garrity, and feel one day, someone is going the get badly hurt from his hard riding. But last night he was the main difference between the two sides, and had Coventry used any of the other draft riders, they would have undoubtedly lost. He was without doubt, Coventry's 'Star Rider' and one of the main reasons why they sit on top of the league. Lakeside battle hard with little luck, I know Coventry lost Robson, but their Reserves, more than amply covered his rides, but when you lose a Reserve you're in big trouble, as you have no cover. Hans and Harris were always there when it mattered, but the top man AJ reigned most of their clashes. A draw was the correct result as both sides contributed to a close match. But it seems unfair when the scores are level that the points are not divided equally, with both teams scoring 2pts each.........Lakeside worked real hard but got little reward for their efforts. The one thing that was so evident was Coventry's winning mentality.... It will take a good side to beat them......
  21. Prediction Time: Lakeside at home are far stronger than their record shows. Apart from month blip, early in the season, have performed a lot better of late, so not the foregone conclusion some are suggesting. Should be a close match and expect the Bees to push them close. Could be good television...... AJ is the obvious trump card, but Lawson and Kennett go well on the tight track. The result to hinge on heats 13 and 15 where AJ will probably rule. Tight home win, with Bees getting a consultation point.....
  22. Prediction time: Easy home win against an injury savaged side. Sam Masters, Josh Auty and Simon Lambert all go will at Lynn and will be sadly missed. Any team who has Doyle riding for them will always win races but one man cant win a meeting on his own. Home win by 25 pts...... with KB getting double figures...
  23. Prediction Time: Darcy to score loads, including a T/R, but Wolves to win by 4
