King's Lynn V Leicester 01/09/15
g13webb replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In a year, when it was hoped to celebrate the Club’s 50th Anniversary in the sport with some success, it has ending up as nothing more than a Damp Squid. Disappointing, Lack Lustred, Uninspiring, there are many words to describe the way this team has performed of late and last night was only the final nail in the inevitable coffin. Call it what you will, Fate, Fortune, Luck, all conspired to diminish the Stars efforts as ‘Also-Rans’. I wrote at the time the loss of Rory was massive. Not only our 2nd heat leader and Captain, but also the inspiration of the whole team. He was the motivator, Mr Team Spirit himself, and because he was never replaced, the team has descended from that point. Fortune again played its part with the loss of Lewis Kerr. Because of some pathetic ruling he couldn’t be replace. For any team to lose two of their top riders they would have struggle, and that’s the way it’s turned out. Last night’s result was not important. We are far too weak to compete in the playoffs, and this result merely stops us from embarrassing ourselves against the stronger teams. Winning to me is not the be-all of everything, but I do demand effort. If rider’s, can’t be bothered than why should we. Last night’s meeting as a spectacle, excitement, competition, was poor. The track was even worse than the first meeting when the Referee deemed it was dangerous. Had the Ref had balls he would have seen through the antics of Doyle, and let the three riders at the tapes race to a conclusion. All he did was provide another twist of fate against this depleted side. I congratulate the Lions on their win, but in all honesty, any team, would have beaten us. We were that poor. With the exception of Niels, the rest of the team wasn’t interested. Porsing always rides hot and cold, Lambert rode as though he had too, rather than wanting too, Morris was embarrassingly last every race, and Kenneth’s fall from grace is as spectacular as it is sad. Once a top rider, but now, only a shadow of his former self. That, coupled with some strange Referee decisions and a missed opportunity for Double Points, all of which conspired to this home defeat. If it wasn’t for the effort from our two guests the margin would have been much greater. Fortunately, it was over in quick time. At the end, the atmosphere resembled a wake. The quietness was deafening. The supporters moved quietly to the Car Park in an orderly fashion. It was as though all had finally accepted our faint hopes of success had ended. Tonight result against Poole will only cement the inevitable. It is sad, the way this season has ended, but in reality, our hopes of success ended the day Rory was injured. -
Well of course you know everything and everybody who rode in the pre 4 valve era. You would need to, to make a 'full-on' statement like that. Two things here, 1, I wasn't referring to the pre 4 valve era and , 2, I wasn't making things up. Whether you want to believe what these riders thought is entirely up to you. Either way I'm not practically bothered. But for the accusation of making things up, probably highlights your integrity, rather than mind..... I made a mention this morning, about not liking the number of bad accidents we seem to be getting these days and how it turns people away, and I stand by that. I have never said top riders didn't crash, merely mentioned about the percentage of top riders having accidents. and, Your comment, doesn't even warrant a reply. Go away and do something useful !!!!

I, like many, believe the bikes now, are way too fast, and for this reason alone, is why the accidents come thick and fast. The introduction of 'Air Fences' have been a godsend, and has reduced the number injuries from the many accidents we see.. One would imagine most of the accident at speedway, happens on the corners. Not wanting to generate any arguments in regards to safety records, but these fences have made a big input on the recorded numbers of injuries. Although the machinery have become technically advance, and generates speeds never witnessed before, some want to forget this important fact, with the pretence that it is now safer than its ever been. On this subject, I have spoken with some aged riders, some were of world standing. But not one relished an opportunity of competing now, acknowledging that racing these bikes is far more difficult now than was in their days. To me, that speaks volumes.
-
I wasn't aware the list was solely fatalities, so apologies for that. Although I have no facts to prove the point, I believe the accidents of today, involve a bigger percentage of top riders where in the past that wasn't always the case, thus proving, even the riders at the top of their trade, are finding racing these bikes is difficult as well as dangerous....

WOW !!!! -
I don't see that at all. You mentioned above a period of twenty years and twenty riders getting seriously injured. In numbers alone, that pales significantly to the numbers hurt today. The machines of today are far more technical with much more speed than yesterday's, that have also become harder to control. Coupled to that the poorly prepared tracks, and limitation of tyres, you have all the ingredients you need for tragic accidents...... All the i

You and me both mate. Its all very well to say we told you so, but I have never heard anyone acclaim Milik was anything but a Poole rider. His recent behaviour has only highlighted them thoughts. A really bad signing, especially when we needed someone special to cover for Rory and to motivate the team. Even hind sight would have told you that. As for getting in replacements like Dudek, I'm sure, had the dangled carrot, been juicy enough, the riders would give it a go. After all we're only talking about another half a dozens meetings till the end of the season. I sure had the boot been on the other foot, Matt Ford would have found the resources. We obviously don't want to win the League...... Plus ...... I have a big problem with injuries... The list of riders getting badly injured grows by the week, and that just drives me away from the sport I love. Where once, injuries were few and were usually restricted to broken arms and legs, now its far more serious when head and backs are damaged. I feel the sport has reached a point where something has to be done. Slower bikes? Better tyres, Better Tracks, something that will make these injuries seldom again, like they once were.

Leicester Lions Vs Kings Lynn Stars - 15 August
g13webb replied to scottrocks's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For various reasons I decided not go, but have to say, a commendable performance tonight from all concerned to achieve an unbelievable win. Just goes to show, you should never give up , even when everything seems against you. An amazing Victory.......Considering our problems -
In all my 50 odd yrs. following this sport, I cant remember another time when I felt this low and barely interested. Such is the state of the game it has turned the league racing into a lottery. Guest, RR Injuries and TR all but destroyed the very existence of the sport. Who wins is not important anymore. it means nothing. The only matches of any meaning is the four team tournament at the end of the season. Up to that point, its the deception that is always uppermost in peoples thoughts. We have far too many meetings and not enough riders. We have the same riders, riding for different teams. the whole sport has been turned into a circus governed on the principle of them and us. Instead of working together, the BSPA sees us as obstacles who know nothing. I wonder how much more of this rubbish can one man take..........

Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
g13webb replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As much as I agree in principle with what BV have said, I think this whole scenario should be sussed out at the AGM table. It is wrong that one team stand alone in their decision to withhold their riders from guest appearances, when we all know, in its current program, the league cannot survive without guest!!! I am still remembering last year, when Rory guested for BV frequently, and also later, when the Stars were decimated with injuries, we relied totally on guests to assemble a team of any strength, even in the PO semi-finals. Until the BSPA have any resemblance of sensibility, and arrange our 2 leagues to run on separate nights, there can be no change in the laws regarding guests. Belle Vue, along with all the other clubs will always rely on guests to cover absent riders. This needs sorting...... -

g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Probably so. But (a) this important fixture should have been sorted before he signed, and ( if it wasn't it ought to have been. Winning at Leicester is imperative if we are to reach the playoff, with a lucrative Semi-final at stake.... If we cant win this we stand no chance of getting a result against Coventry, Swindon or Poole, especially with riders missing...... -

I never understood the logic of signing Milik in the first place, and the fact he chooses to ride in the SEC, rather then for his club, when results are of paramount importance clearly verifies my thinking. If riding this weekend was of relevance it would be different, but we all know he is only an 'also ran', there, to make up the numbers... Give me someone who is committed to the Club everytime. Looking at this replacement is really tragic, cos Rory was always committed. 200% -

If what I hear is true, I believe Robert is getting too big for his boots. ( or being wrongly advised) As the rumour goes, now he is regarded as a heat leader, he wants his contract adjusted....! ( That's a bit naughty) If true, The I suggest Robert wants to think back of how the Club and Buster has helped him along the way and given him all the opportunities you could wish for. Probably, you are regarded as an heatleader here, but only because others haven't ridden as well as was hoped, not because the points you have scored. When you go out and win most of your races and have an average around 8 or 9 then you can think you're special. Until then, I suggest you pipe down and get on with what you are paid to do. Let your riding do the talking...... Edit: Comment based purely on rumours heard last night from reliable sources. Don't normally listen to them, but, there no smoke without fire Will be interesting to see what happens this week...... -
Kings Lynn V Leicester Thurs 13 Aug
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What was so impressive about the meeting was the slick presentation of getting the heats flowing nicely. With the threat of rain, forecasted at 9pm, a rush meeting was the only way to get the job done. Apart from an extended track grade after the watershed heat 10, there were no stoppages at all. We didn't have one rerun. What a difference it made. Meeting done and dusted before 9pm, in the Car and on the road, when right on time the heavens opened..... Just goes to show what can be done when you put your mind to it...... The meeting was as predicted. The Stars done an efficient job to secure the points without needing to do to much. The guests all rode well enough, but I'd like to think the riders they replace would have done better. The track in view of the weather was bare and offered little racing. Gates was so important, Once the rider was passed the 2nd bend, positional changes were limited to mistakes. Not the best meeting I've been too.................... But pleased I went...... -
Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
g13webb replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Its all very well calling off meeting early, to save all parties inconvenience, but now the season running out fast, with only a few weeks to go before the 'Cut-off' date, some clubs may struggle to fulfil all their fixtures. Could we see a problem where the play-off qualification is dictated by the number of matches played rather than the results of them.....?????? Having reduced the importance of our speedway league season to a 4 team conclusion, the mind boggles on the next trick the BSPA will pull from the hat....... -

Having looked at various weather forecast, this meeting looks doubtful. Obviously with time running out Buster will want this to run, but the weather seem to be coming on the wrong Day. We've had a brilliant weather week with door to door sunshine, but come speedway day, it all changes. Some weather programs say rain till 11am then clear till 4, then heavy rain all night..... another says: rain will come at 10 am till 2pm then back again tonight, another say: clear morning with rain this afternoon, another say: a clear day but rain tonight. So it doesn't look too promising. The one thing they all have in common is that it will be raining tonight..... Hope they are all wrong, and the sunshine at present, shines all day.......... -
Keep this up mate and you'll be ready for the Play-offs That's providing we reach 'em. ..................... Seriously mate, brilliant news, Don't go over doing it . You know what I mean Harry ..

Kings Lynn V Leicester Thurs 13 Aug
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well as per usual, I shall be there come, rain blow or shine. Like I say lady Luck has all but deserted us. Its little wonder all these accidents, considering the Riders busy race schedule. Its all very well punters saying who we should or shouldn't get to guest, but usually there's little choice. Such is the state of the sport and the amount of fixtures, we have to have who we can get....... How they perform then is a lottery..... I still honestly believe, had our original team stayed fit and strong, even including the improving Morris, we were more than capable of winning this year. But we well never know... Obviously want the team to win tonight, but not expecting any great developments.. This is the easiest of our remaining fixture we have left, so if we can't do this, god help us when we play the others..... -
He probably did ........ But he only scored 15 points in his first 15 races. With that sort of average he hasn't set the place alight yet... Just for comparison Rory, always went pretty well at Brandon....
-
Have always been very sceptical with anything involving Matt Ford. I had never rated Milik as an heatleader, and feel had he been good enough then he would have been riding for Poole. Cant help thinking about position of 'Agent Milik' and how conveniently his pull cord come adrift when racing against Poole. If the push ever became necessary which side would he help???? As a replacement for Rory, he is totally inadequate, which leads me to wonder why he was signed in the first place!!! If that signing was done to highlight the clubs intentions, then the bar is not set very high. Swindon have taken the Bull by the horns and made everybody take notice....... Feel somewhere, we have got lost along the way............... ALSO RANS......
-
That's the one. Sure would be a wonderful acquisition, but the downside would be 'Morrissey Fan' ( a diehard MJJ fan) would become a Stars supporter over night.. Don't think I could handle that.....

Updated Website: http://www.kingslynnstars.co/guests-called-in-for-lions-clash/ It appears we have more troubles than could be imagined. Not only are we missing Kerr and Lambert, but also Milik and Porsing as well. We are now down to the bear minimum and will rely on Niels, KB and Morris, amply aided and assisted by guests:; D. North, K.Wolbert and C. Wilkinson. Cant ever say supporting the Stars is boring, and this selection will generate a keen match with Leicester. Just hope it will be enough.
