  1. Surprise !!! TJ announced as the sixth rider...….
  2. Apologies if I was wrong, but that how your post came across....
  3. That sarcastic comment was neither necessary or funny. Sidney is a regular poster on the Stars thread and voices many honest opinions. Pity there weren't more like him....
  4. As a seventy year old, I am so disillusioned by the delaying antics portrayed by the Kings Lynn promotions. These sort of games use to be used in the playground at school, not by professional people trying to improvise added advertising. This warp idea does nothing to generate ADDED interest, and of the people I have spoken with they all say they are totally fed up being treated like kids. The only people who can remember the names announced so far are die hard fans who could have guessed them from the start. So you ask the question 'What's the point of it all ?? '.
  5. Appreciate the information..... I stand corrected. 50 odd years it has been the speedway car park. Never realised that it was anything else but.
  6. That has surprised me, to my knowledge it was part and parcel of the Lynn premises, so for it to now belong to the council, I wonder when it was changed over ??. If you look closely, it is fenced and locked at all times, Buster uses it as a permanent place to store his machinery, the extra equipment and also the surplus shale . Since year dot it has always been the car park for the speedway... On stockcar race days it is used as a paddock so it becomes a necessity to Busters operation. I couldn't imagine Buster would gamble that the land would always be available for his plans without some form of guarantee, so I have question the comment above. To charge £1 for car parking is not out of place, and indeed some places charge far more.... But the difference comes into play when you look at the precarious situation of fans attending on race days, it is just another increase forced on them when the costs are already too high. To me this is just an underhanded way of charging the fans more. The fact that the land is of more benefit to the promotions than the fans I believe this is just another way of milking a situation. If that land wasn't there it would near on kill the sport at Kings Lynn, so to be charged to use it, to me is wrong....
  7. I'm not into all these mind games. Like you I'm surprised too, preferring to name a lesser rider recovering from injury, they probably wants the fans to think Riss wont be joining the team and then at the last moment say finally our last rider will be …………… Never imagined the sport could extinguished the fires that burnt inside some die hard fans, but Lynn promotions are sure doing an outstanding job....
  8. Wow !! what a surprise...….. I'm of the impression that this idea of keeping the team a secret, is losing far more interest from the fans than it is generating ..
  9. Back in '65 I had just started my working life as a trainee engineer at the Sugar factory. One dinner time, I cold hear this noise of bikes racing nearby. We followed the train lines to investigate the appealing sound. At the back of the old greyhound site, we squeezed through a small opening in the derelict tin fence to witness 2 small men dressed in black leathers racing around a black cinder track. The smell was so amazing, it was so intoxicating, it rekindled my love for speedway that had been lost since the 'Firs had closed some years back... One of those men was Cyril Crane, time disappeared as we talked of his idea to bring the sport alive in Kings Lynn. He gave me an open invitation to the site whenever I wanted to come. (Very nice man) This was the start of love affair with the Stars that had lasted over 50 years... By the time I got back to work it was gone 3. I got a right ole boll.…ing but they put it down to youth and ignorance of time. Fortunately, I got away with a warning...
  10. Probably the best team I can remember the Stars ever having was back in '72 when our team was Betts; Simmo; Howard Cole as heat leaders Phil Crump and Ian Turner as 2nd strings, with Bob Humphries and Barry Crowson as reserves. A strong team by any standards, but we still weren't good enough to win...
  11. You must be a bit older than me then. I remember as a 13 yr. old on a Saturday night, catching the bus to the town, then going to the picture house and buying a bag of sweets, Ice cream in the interval, before going to Ruston's fish shop for supper, usually then having to run to catch the last bus home ..... and still had change out of the 10 shillings pocket money...... Wonderful times…...
  12. Having watched Niels in seven of the eight years, I believe he has been more instrumental to everything Lynn have produced than anyone. There are many reasons why I'd like to see Niels in the team, his excellence, his determination, his quality , his reliability, the list goes on... him having a low CMA would have been easier to fit him in than he would be normally.... With the exception of Lambert, all the rest of the proposed team are young, willing and able, but not any can be relied upon when the chips are down... without that second accomplished heat leader we will struggle ….
  13. I admire your optimism, but I feel a little bit more realistic. Probably they didn't always see eye to eye, but they sure as hell respected each other. As been implied, because of injuries Niels wasn't firing on all cylinders last year, but he was always an able partner in heats 13 and 15... You'll be amazed on how many 5-1's we benefitted from that pairing when the matches were coming to that crucial stage... Like the majority of posters, I believe the remaining riders are as expected.. ( Kerr, Riss and AJ) but inside I hope we have instead, a reliable 2nd heat leader, one that is comparable to the other teams Failing that, we will have a one man team, and be totally reliant on Lambert. That cant be good thinking ......
  14. Halleluiah !!! at least other people can see the truth of what is going on.... not like those blinded by them Buster coloured shades.... I am in no doubt, you will not find a speedway supporter from another club, who would agree with the way us Star fans are treated…..
  15. I think it is you who should read your post a bit better ... You never mentioned anything about a competitive team, all you said, apart from calling most of us 'Doom Mongers' was 'We know there will be 7 riders come April that's all that matters really imo.'
  16. Well first, let me say, I must be a Doom Monger' because unlike you I am concerned who the riders are. I have witnessed many poor teams, in my life of supporting the Stars, and quite frankly, if the promotions doesn't think it necessary to inform the fans of that team then why should we bother to attend. I admire your nonchalant approach of not giving a hoot who the riders are, or how good they might be. You and the rest who are not bothered, merely illustrates how unimportant the whole sport has become.... I wonder if your attitude would change when the team is being beaten every week, languishing at the foot of the table getting hammered each meeting. I wonder then if the names of the riders will be important, after all you say, as long as there are 7 riders that's all that matters.... Once upon a time, winning the match wasn't important, there were many things going on that made a speedway match an enjoyable night out. But that has changed, all that is left now is the excitement of seeing 4 men racing on bikes with no brakes . but the novelty of that eventually wears off when the racing become processional and predetermined... Its little wonder the fans stay away now. If the truth be known, of all the sports, Speedway must more supporters who don't go any more, compared to the ones that do, and that should speak volumes So yes I am bothered who the riders are......
  17. The whole package was about how the Lynn set up has helped him through a bad time...., He also says how they has worked harder on his fitness and the benefit he has gained by the 'great people behind US has been awesome'. In conclusion, it says 'Jorgensen is yet to be named in the 2019 side, but it would be a major surprise if he isn't in their plans'... So it was not fake news, and I trust in future you keep your tainted comments to yourself....
  18. In todays S/S, It appears TJ has also signed for the club. No doubt we will hear that officially when the promotions think the fans ought to know... It was said it was sorted a long time back.....
  19. Sorry mate but I cant share your optimism, It would serve no purpose to keep such an important talisman to British Speedway, a secret. I'm of the belief that, this is one of the reason why the Stars have been reluctant to show their hand. Rest assured had Niels been riding this season it would have been shouted from the rooftops, loud and clear....
  20. Whatever would that result say about Buster? Owning 3 teams out of 7 and not one in the top 4. I think the Panthers will be his saviour, finishing in the top 4 , but who win the PO is a sheer lottery.....
  21. Amazing.! that there are always those who want to create situations. If you are referring to me then say so... Although I've never been in favour of drip feeding the team, I liked Speedball's post because it keeps the fans in the picture, informing them of EVERYTHING that is going on. If a team was to adapt his idea we would be up to pace on everything that was evolving and also, of when, if , any announcement would be made. The biggest problem I have at the moment , is that any announcement made are based on the benefits of the club, not primarily for the interest of the fans. We go weeks sometimes months and don't hear a thing, then we get two in a day. That cant be right........ If they want to drip feed information, then show a program of the event set out, so every one is aware of when these announcement will be made. Years ago, when Crane and Littlechild was at the helm, the fans were always up to scratch with every facet of the sport, and all we had then was the local rag, Now, even with all the modern technology we are told nothing... I don't apologise how I feel or what my opinions are, but Speedball's suggestion would be brilliant....
  22. Agree top post, but have to disagree with the second part, someone with so many positive thoughts would not fit in promoting Speedway...
  23. It appears, all us posters on ere' get more exposure than the Speedway Club we support. Another shambolic exercise in exposing another rider, one we all believed was rubber stamped from the start... Last year he was our 'Ace up the sleeve' as reserve rider, Looking at the squad assembled, he will probably a heat leader this year...…..
