When this 3 yr period was introduced, the sport was run on a uniform pattern. But when the race format is changing on a yearly basis, any CMA that is not current is out of date. What a pity the BSPA couldn't keep up with the rules when they were changing everything regularly .

i wonder what effect Niels latest tweet about the non-payment from Indianerna will have on his decision of where he rides this year.?? We might be in with a chance after all....
-
If you wish to be that accurate, it was one and a half seasons to be more precise, either way, still not a current CMA

Supporters Meeting at the AFA Friday 16th Dec 2016, when final team announcements will be made..... First rider to be announced this week... Like hairs has said, my guess too would be Porsing.......

Discounting last year, our off season program goes along these lines.. October :Trying to forget to terrible season we had just finished.....and trying to be positive about the next. Discussing the forthcoming AGM and what are the expectations. November: Suggestion and discussion of team formation taking into account the new rules. Listening to other teams announcement Hoping our will be as good. December: The much awaited Supporters meeting when the new team is introduced. Banter with other teams who has the best opportunity to be successful January: New Year, New start, Waiting for formal announcement of fixtures and formats... Getting excited for the seasons prospects February: Anticipation is growing by the day. final plans put in place. Planning practice days to visit... March : The season is ready for the off. Banter now starts in earnest, everyone is in with a chance . April: Amazing how slow those winter mouths go. But the first fixtures are run.... Its good to be bad.... Looking that the timetable we are on track. I get plenty of enjoyment in the off-season just from reading the thoughts from fellow posters. Some are brilliant, some are not so, but most are good reading....

Kenneth Bjerre is a seasoned professional who has been unlucky with a lot of his injuries.. Yes!, he may be suspect in close racing, especially racing riders he don't trust. But KB has 3 attributes, worthy to get into many teams, He's an exceptional Gater, has real fast machinery, and when in front he's smooth and goes very quick. Any promoter would welcome him on his average, and that includes Matt Ford.....
-
The average that Holder is on will obviously drop. It would drop wherever he rode even at Poole. I'm a great believer in living today first and let address the future tomorrow.. We may not have a league next year, least of all one that includes riders like Holder. Lets grab this opportunity now, waiting for guaranteed success never works... I agree Huckenbeck would be tremendous as a reserve rider, he is more than capable of improving to a 2nd String, but we don't need two strong reserves. They only need to have 3 rides, whereas a strong No1 can score double figures most weeks.
-
Having watch both riders for a few years, to me there's no comparison. Whilst both have exceptional talent and indeed quality riders, KK is very much a confidence rider whose mood is not always as it should. He scored well when racing here last year, but how many times has he let Coventry down. yes he may have a lesser average than Holder but ask yourself why!! Holder is one of the best, in the top 5 of the world, a true professional who gives his all every time he rides. He suffered badly from 2 tragic accidents plus the effect of Darcy's accident, but he proved last year to be back to his best. When comparing all the factors of the two men KK doesn't even come close. Holder is in a different league..... He is one of the few men who could actually replace NKI.....
-
I can see the logic of why Holder would want to ride for Somerset. He needs to consider his family and their roots having been based in Dorset for so long. But if he wanted a challenge, to race on a smooth track every week, be hero worshiped as if he was god by success starved fan , he need look no further than Saddlebow Road. Situated in the outback's of East Anglia, close to the airports, it maybe an aRSe to get to... but if he was thinking of his water sports enjoyment with little Max then Hunstanton is only a few miles away. I'm sure he would be made most welcome.....

When reading reports of the Coventry signings of King and Bjerre, I was quietly disappointed.. I had a feeling King would be at Brandon, was never took in by all the rumors of him at Lynn, mostly because of the possibility of clashes with Ipswich matches. I feel King is capable of better things in 17, but on his high average he needs to be consistent. To me KB has always been a capable rider. He may never be a Holder, a Doyle or a NKI. but an electric gater on fast bikes, who can win any race, even when the chips are down. Ridiculously smooth when in front and a joy to watch. Yes he may have a problem with close contact with certain riders, but who can blame him, given the number of times he's been taken out resulting in bad injuries... No, if giving a injury free period, and his confidence high, KB can easily be a match winner... I was disappointed in that, I thought he would have been high on Busters list of possibles..... If I had to choose between Batch or Bjerre it would be Kenneth everytime. Our loss is the Bee's gain.

You're missing the point here !! British Speedway is all about survival. its not about riders who want to ride, its about clubs being able to afford them. We cant have a rule where Club A and afford the best riders competing against Club B who have little finance. We want to have equal teams all with a chance of winning...... It is wrong that our sport is blackmailed, having a few top riders wanting to race when most of them don't give a damn....
-
I feel similar in that our league cannot afford the top riders, and as been said we are at the bottom of the pecting order. It is my belief capturing a top rider at No1 is a massive advantage to those who wish to go with a more uniform side. It is because of this I think the BSPA should have induce a rule that forbid teams to field SGP riders. That would have kept all teams on a level footing and that what is most important. teams being level.... Because we are reverting back to Pre 2013 race format, the Reserves don't have protected heat anymore, and the Heat Leaders have an easier job with races against lesser riders. For these reasons it will be more important to have a Doyle in your side capable of scoring 15 pts every week whereas lesser riders are 10 a penny and will take points off each other. You will find the reserves will be the far weakest in the team and their quality will be far less that the 2nd strings I just wished the BSPA had taken that decision about the top riders and not left it upto individual clubs.. We would probably have lost 5 or 6 riders tops, but the product would have been far more even when everyone would be in with a chance of winning....
-
I can imagine it will be hard for apposing teams to go to Rye House and win. They have gone for experience and riders who know how to win. I am in no doubt they will put up a decent showing in the Premier League. Its difficult to say how good they can do, until we see more team announcements.... but on their signings I can see plenty to get excited about.....
-
If the truth be known, riders' wages are the biggest problem to all the teams and promotions......Our sport is so short of supporters, meaning the input from gate receipts go nowhere near enough to cover expenses, the difference has to be balanced by sponsorship deals.. One day, the riders will realise this sport is not a bottomless pit. .. but probably, by then it will be too late...

g13webb replied to BurntFaceMan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Quite amusing this thread. to compare speedway promotions to a baker is quite absurd. Wouldn't it be easy if it was that simple. I m in no doubt that every imaginable way has been tried to savage our sport from complete disaster. Comparing Speedway now to the way is was back in 70's, are oceans apart, and whatever way you look at it, them days will never come back. The product has become to expensive for the interest it creates. Some fans seem to think if we employed top riders the gates would be full, but you'd only kidding yourself. Bearing in mind the numbers that are interested enough to go and watch, coupled to the amount they can afford to pay, I say £10 would be too much. For the sport to have any chance of survival we need to cut the cost of the machinery to a point that the meeting and promoters can afford to pay..... For crowds of 1000, paying £18 a head to watch 14 riders racing on bikes costing £7000 apiece is suicidal, senseless to a point it won't survive. Now if we had 1000 punters paying £10 a head to watch 12 riders racing on bikes costing £250, wouldn't that be far more sensible. More promoters would get involved, More crowds could afford to go, and more rider would be able to afford the cost to compete............ A win win situation.... I think this was from Director No 9....... -
I don't have no gripe with anyone, am just disappointed with the consideration given to the fans. Probably, me being old school expected more, like we use to get. Before there was anything like social media we were always kept in the picture on what was happening through articles in the local press and magazines. Up until recent years, we always had a Supporters meeting so it would have been expected to be normal time, normal place. but after the laid back approach of last year, was I wrong to ask the question...... No mate I have no gripe, just wishing the fans were kept more in the picture... No doubt they will expect us to fork out the £18's every week......
-
Wow.... didn't they do well......... I saw a few tweets saying they are on the job trying to signing riders. But I have never seen anything about a Supporters Meeting or making an announcement of the team. If it wasn't for DWP we would be non the wiser....... How can you defend attitude like that???.................
-
Yeah , and maybe Pigs will fly. In this day and age it only takes 2mins to post a tweet, or put a News Flash on the Website. Saying it : It is hoped we will be in a position to have a Supporters Meeting at the club, sometime in early December to announce the Stars team for 2017..... So bloody simple. and that took 1min 42sec.
-
Thanks for the information. Appreciated.... Well that one good rider, now trying to guess some more......
-
Nobody knocking him !! we are his biggest fans.. We all hope he signs for the Stars this year and hereafter...... But we are still entitled to an opinion. If we don't criticise, when we praise him it would means nothing, You have to have comparisons.... Blowing sunshine up ones A-SE all the time means nothing.... .

I see this as a guarenteed paycheck rather than a stepping stone. The Pols are a lot of things but stupid they are not. They no doubt, are aware that Lambert cant gate and until such time they think he's not good enough to compete the top leagues. I must be honest and say this gating thing really worries me. He should be far better at this than he is at present. Its all very exciting watching him come from the back but to be considered as world class he needs to get out of that gate. The gating technique is 70% of the game. If you can't do that then you'll only ever be an also ran. Looking back as his short career, how many meetings already, has he lost out at the final hurdle. Maxed out in the heats only to lose when it mattered. Its that important, I would have thought he would have employed a meteor, (I missed the N out and the computer replaced the intended word.. Sorry!!) because after competing for a few years he don't appear any better than he was when he started out. The higher the class of rider the more difficult it is to come from the back....... Rather than waste his time in the Polish 3rd Div. I would thought his time would be better learning how to trap. Think of all the top Polish riders at their young age, would they bother riding in the 3rd Div?? ........

The fact that no team announcements have been made, accept a few 'Tweets' saying they're working hard on putting a team together, am I right in thinking there may be a supporter meeting to make them announcement or am I still living in cuckoo land ????? Probably Buster been looking at a few of the suggestions on here and thinking 'that's a good idea', or probably 'Can't afford that!!' . Does anybody know what he's thinking ????...

Appreciate what you're trying to do and yes it represent a solid 1-7 team. My only issue is we leave our selves open for when the opposition has a strong No1 To be successful we need to win all matches at home and also some away. I feel the team you suggested would struggle to impose themselves against top class riders.. Because the league is everting back to the old heat format, it would be more important to have strong leaders and less in the reserve places.... I would rather go for something like, NKI (or Holder); Porsing; K. Bjerre (or Batch); Rose, Lambert; Huckenbeck and Bailey.. .. . I didn't think anybody was talking about one season wonders, but yes KB did have an impressive year. But my lasting memory of 2011 was having travelled to Dorset for the playoff Bjerre was a massive let down..... That was the only season when he was better than Niels....
-
It wasn't my intention to turn this thread into a 'Whose the best No1 Lynn has ever had'. I voiced an opinion, when replying to another post' of how important NKI has been for the Stars, and I stand by that comment when saying he is as good as any we have had, and that includes all those that has since been mentioned. No, I do not have a short memory, nor selective problems with certain riders. but it seem others suffer from them tainted memories. We should remember that the recent racing format gives riders like Niels a far stiffest challenge than anything before, he is racing against heat leaders in every race. Even so, for 6 years he has reign supreme at the top of the scores, always keeping Lynn in-with a chance of winning. He was forever present, being the ultimate example of a professional. In every race he gives his all, and is a perfect gentleman to suite. To compare any rider with the attributes and attitude of NKI is indeed a complement in itself..... Yes, we have had some special riders over the years, Terry Betts was the first. riding for 13 years he was a terrific talisman. he more than most put Kings Lynn on the map. Not of the World class others could be compared with , but a fantastic club man. Others like Rickardsson, Crump, Adams, Pedersen , and others who didn't stay long enough to be considered as worthy contestants to Niels claimed spot. Henka, Jessup, Loram and Topinka were all top riders and class opponents, but none reaching the height of Niels scores in regular competition. Michael Lee, I left till last. In all my years of following Lynn he was the most awesome riders I've ever seen. He could do things on a bike others could only dream of. He was capable of making the very best look like fools. When it came to talent, he was without equal. Unfortunately, once he had won that 1st world title it went pear shape. From that point he proceeded to undo all the wonderful things he had done and in the end he disappeared from everyone's lists.... So when looking back I am more than happy to class Niels as GOOD as any No1, Lynn has probably ever had....

Weak in 2 heats only, Reverting back to the old race format the reserves are not so important as the Fast tracks.... but just imagine how good the top end would be. Also once the team get their new averages come May , With the re-adjustment of the high rollers we could use them point to have better reserves. Hey- Presto!!
