Probably Jon Cook didn't like that either......

No not at all, But had the scores been such, I have a feeling Freddie would have been riding had it mattered... Injured or not.....

Well done to Swindon on an unexpected point. But can't help thinking they were let off the hook. !4 pt ups with 3 races to go, the meeting was over. However 2 x 5-1's made this match look quite close but somethings tells me it wasn't . Doyle and Morris continue to impress.......

Kings Lynn V Rye House 24/5/17
g13webb replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When you see what happened in Manchester last night, It knocks you for six . All those people that got killed, really puts the important of these matches into prospective. I will still go to watch, but forgive me for being less excitable . What is this world coming too ? and don't give me that crap that's its about religion ........ -
When comparing Greaves with our reserve Josh Bailey, he is a seasoned rider of some repute. No doubt we would agree to a swap if your dislike is that much.....

With Wolves riding on the crest of a wave at the moment, coupled with their massive home advantage, the Robins have a tremendous job to get anything out of their trip tonight. Of all their recent matches this without doubt is their hardest. No team would look forward going to Monmore at the moment. and can only see one outcome.....,, Unfortunately

Kings Lynn V Rye House 24/5/17
g13webb replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Rye House could be very dangerous. They have riders in Kennett, Nichol and Harris who can all ride AFA really well. We will need to be focused and dialled in to deter them from the outset. Once Kennett gets his eye in he goes from strength to strength. Our confidence should be really high after a brilliant win at the Abbey, but nothing in this game can to taken for granted... We will face much tougher opposition than this so need to win comfortably. Prediction: Lynn by 10.... -
Belle Vue V Swindon Friday 19th May
g13webb replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don't think KB would ride for Lynn again given all the adverse comments he received from his last stint. I'm pleased I wasn't one of those who questioned his obvious ability. He has proved me right when I said going to Belle Vue would be a dream move... and Yes, we having KB in place of Porsing would have been an excellent choice...... Hind sight is a wonderful thing...... -
I think you're being a bit unfair on Bailey. Of cause he is out of his depth and is merely making the numbers up. That was always going to happen. But tell me another rider who would agree with having to wait 10 heats between his 2nd and 4th ride. The track would have changed considerable during that time... No other rider would do that... Looking at the list of reserve riders and their averages, it appears Lynn has the best in Huckenbeck and the worse in Bailey. Looking at that fact, probably its better to be that way, knowing Huckenbeck can usually win races and able to take extra rides when the need be. Something 2 mediocre riders wouldn't achieve..... So going back to sarcasm about a 6man team, sometimes the make-up of a 6man team can be more beneficial than a 7man one....

I feel for Josh Bailey big time. He's on a hiding to nothing and is completely out of his depth. Its all very well making these rules to bring on these youngsters and giving them a stupid points it has to be done en-bloc where all other teams are built along similar lines. Allowing teams to chop and change like they have, was always going to hamper riders like Baileys progress and they well be dropped like a hot brick. When the BSPA make these rules they should have more understanding of the riders situation. Bailey has always been on a hiding to nothing... Only when these fabricated averages are eventually swapped over, will his nightmare cease...

I did think about some of Swindon riders not turning up, but I never thought we would be strong enough to win. Special mention to Doyle's maximum but the rest of the Robins have to ask themselves about their input...... Without Jason this could have been over much earlier.... A good win for the Stars on the road, but feel being 14 points up, we ought to have got all 4 on offer.... Don't see the logic of Bailey having to wait 10 heats to ride in Heat 14. If the chips had been down we would have been in s-it street. Surely, once Bailey's 3rd ride was changed, then to put him back in heat 9 would have been the obvious choice leaving Huck to ride in heat 14, when we could have needed him more...... It didn't matter tonight, but next time it might.........

After having 2 meeting in 4 days, its now over a month since Swindon's last home match. This crazy planning schedule might be to the Stars advantage in that the Robins riders have forgotten where the track is Prediction: Stars to lose 48 - 42 ( HL=30pts; SS=8; RR= 4). ....... To get a point here tonight would be a massive plus....

As I expected, this was an easy Wolves win, but I never imagined it to be so one sided. To win only 2 heats at home is a disgraceful effort on behave of Leicester, but one has to appreciate just how strong is this Wolves side ?? To win away by that margin does the sport no favours. Lions supporters will feel uneasy the way their team folded against such onslaught, and no doubt will question their desire to go when results go that bad... They shouldn't feel too bad though , as I can see other teams falling to the all-round strength of Wolves. When it appears most clubs are struggling to assemble a decent side within the restraint of the rules and riders, This Wolves side has risen to the challenge to dominate. I can see this sport being a dreadful one sided affair.... and that's the last thing we want.....

Once upon atime I'd be ready to drive to Swindon and think nothing of it. But them days are long gone. Where once you would have a fair idea on how to would turn out, nowadays we haven't a clue.... We could perform well and make a match of it, but on the other hand we could get hammered.... Depends which team turns up to ride.... And that's the big shame..... All us fans want is conviction for the cause, then we might start to believe again.......

Fast Freddie And The Gtr
g13webb replied to tyler42's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't think you can apportion the reason of struggling riders down to machinery it is far more complex than that. Riders like Hancock and Pedersen have been around a long time and their bike have always been fast or faster than most. But each year they get older, their desire has to be questioned and the competition is getting stronger, and Younger...... These first two meetings has highlighted this years strength in the competition, There some terrific races at the weekend, some very tough and hard fought. Somehow I couldn't see Hancock involved with these sort of races..... Just probably, this is the year when the likes of Hancock and Nicki will consider its time to call it a day.... But please don't apportion their problems to only the bikes they're riding...... -
Warsaw Gp 13th May 2017
g13webb replied to james1234's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think this years standard of riders in the SGP is the best ever. Most riders are capable of winning, Every race could be a final. There are no easy races and fortunes will fluctuate. To go into the meeting with any hope of success, a rider need of a fast bike is essential. It appears the GTR has all the power needed to be considered equal to any other available.. To proportion Freddie's success between rider and bike is difficult. Freddie has always been a quality rider, sometimes not scoring the points he deserved. It appears the GTR has given him a new lease of life where he is now one of the top runners.. It pleases me no end that Freddie is achieving this success, because he has always supported the British league, and I would much rather he come out on top than someone who turns their back on our Speedway...... Only my opinion: To answer your question, I think Freddie and GTR goes hand in hand...... 50/50 -
Kings Lynn V Rye House 24/5/17
g13webb replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If you cant finish in the top 4 of our league, you don't deserve to get a back door entry. I think having 4 English clubs in the competition to too many anyway... As for the speedway, it will depend which team turns up. If its the team from the first half of the Leicester match then we'll get turned over, whereas if its the second half team we'll win with points to spare..... Pleased to see Holder got on the pace at the SGP weekend. His first 2 rides were poor, but he sorted it out later with 2 good rides... Unfortunately it wasn't enough to reach the semi's . -
Surely to talk about a replacement for anybody now has to be rediculous. Why would anybody, Manager/Promoter or supporter predict any changes until we know what points we have to play with, only then would we be able to decide who could and who wouldn't fit.. Because of the history of these things, I don't have the confidence that the people in charge will bring in the right man needed to make us into championship contenders,, Mores the pity.. But, more likely or not, purse strings will be more important than the quality of the rider plus sometimes, certain personalities have previously clashed, so all these things don't go hand in hand when trying to choose the right rider....
-
It was always going to be difficult for Bailey competing in the top league. I believe he has done relatively well and has shown a fare turn of speed. If he could sort out his gating he would be in the mix against most reserves. Once the races have started Josh has not problem keeping up the pace, but you cant compete on level terms when you are constantly slow from the gate......

Kings Lynn Stars Vs Leicester 10/05/17
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
With hind sight, it is possible to see some wonderful and unbelievable scenarios. At the interval, I sat talking with a Lions supporter and said that they were sitting pretty. Knowing we had Lambert and Holder in most races, I wasn't confident of the other riders doing their part..... But that heat 11 was of paramount importance, Remembering Huckenbeck hadn't scored a point at this stage, so had he lost that ht 11 the Lions would surely have won. At the interval we were 8 points adrift of a Lions side that had ridden well. Their whole side had contributed to their useful lead. Probably had Nilsen performed as expected the match may have been over by that time. Their 2 consecutive 5-1's before the interval warranted applause. At that point we were up against it. In that first half we were woeful and only Lambert and Holder come out of it with any credit. Thankfully, Huckenbeck came to the party with 3 immaculate rides. and we were able to rescue a dire situation. I won't accept it was foreseeable with the way our team had ridden. Yes I accept gate 4 was a favourable start, but they still have do the business, and after watching that first half display I had my doubts.... I think Danny King deserves a mention. The Lions Captain led by example. Battled with Lambert every step of the way, was the only rider to beat Holder and his team riding in heat 9 was sublime.... -
Kings Lynn Stars Vs Leicester 10/05/17
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sure was a strange meeting that turned out alright in the end. Was well pleased to see Chris Holder dialled in show the pedigree he processes. Robert Lambert was immense, but each of the others blew both hot and cold and I along with many others thought at the interval are chances of victory were slim . But, the obvious kick up the arse worked wonders. Huckenbeck then came to the party with 8+1 from his 3 rides, which turned the table in the Stars favour...... The lack of consistency was a big factor why the stars trailed by 8 at the interval. We provided 8 last places in the first 10 heats. That can't be good for team morale... I still feel we are some way short of a team with enough potential to challenge for honours. To do that we need riders who can be relied upon to deliver on a regular basic and not when the mood takes them. Whatever involvement Dale had in the motivation of the second half recovery I say Well Done to him.... But I don't , at this stage, feel confident of the connection between him and the motivation of the riders. No doubt time will tell whether he succeeds or not.... There were some pluses last night, the referee done well with his hurried use of the 2min buzzer, that was appreciated, although he missed Gomolski riding on the centre green later on.., The track was better than usual, Lambert proved it could be raced on if you put the effort in. Gate 4 was a massive advantage, and provided most of the winners.... After a sunny day it was nice to get a decent meeting in after a 3 week break..... -
I have loads of ideas , but they have been voiced so many time before. What we desperate need are transparent rules set in stone; Clubs to take advantage of the social media and promote the club and the sport, so fans and people are aware of what is going on. Promote the club to the people, and make them feel involved...... Assure us of good racing where VFM is the No 1 priority. What is so annoying, at Kings Lynn we have the makings of a brilliant set up.. We have no competition of big sport in the facinity. We have fans who would die for the club, and are desperate for success, 52 years, we have waited to win the Premier league, we are no closer now than we were all them years ago..... Surely we have learnt something from that time.....

A proper No1 performance would make the job far easier. If our 1 to 6 are all firing there shouldn't be any problems. ... -
I cannot believe the Warnes family have been dropped like a hot brick.. For what they have done for the club, I would have thought they'd had free admission for life. Like you I have always thought there were far too many hanger's on (stewards) walking about with their blue vests on doing nothing. I could name 4 people that I know, that go every week for free and do next to nothing. They even have a program board to fill I the results... Surely the Warnes are a more deserving cause than some of them.....

Surely Not !!!!! Whether he can afford it , is not the issue. It should be in recognition of all the sponsorship he has supplied... over the years.....
