  1. Probably best to call it off early : Especially them coming from afar.... https://twitter.com/WolvesSpeedway/status/871647105932304384
  2. I've given up trying to understand the logic of BSPA decisions, they apply to make a pigs ear of everything they try and do. Why does everything be so complicated and secretive. Probably the secrecy is only there to save the blushes when the rules are actually known.... Because to the protected heat format of previous years had destroyed the value of the CMA, It was deemed necessary to have a new start. It was agreed to have these fabricated calculations for Elite League riders coupled with Premier league CMA solely to assemble teams to a required level. Once the league has started new figures would be used from the new league matches played so far.. Yeah brilliant idea..... Now all we waited for was the change over date. May 1st would have been ideal, whence all the riders could have been issued with a new and more accurate CMA and been implemented say 7th of the month... It would have made little difference of how many matches clubs had been played, nor who had raced the most times. The new figure would have been far most accurate than those fabricated at the start, and the sooner they were implemented the better..... This 4H and 4A was a rule that was used when assessing new riders and new averages when the league was being run normally... This condition of 4H/4A was not mentioned when these ideas were first aired . It puts a whole new emphasis on the original idea. We are now into June, and by the time these plans are implemented it could well be July. Nearly half the season will be over and we are still working on fabricated averages from a different league...... You couldn't make this up......
  3. Looking at the weather forecast for Monday, there's not going to be much speedway races anywhere. The whole of the country covered by rain. Not just a band sweeping across an area, but wide spread across the whole width of the country.. Expect an early Call-off.. Such a pity.....
  4. Not wanted to comment on his SGP form, mainly because I think this year's field is far stronger than ever before, So concentrating purely on the SPL form I think his engines are on par with other riders.... I watch most races and try and evaluate all that's on show. The attitude of a rider to me is a better indication of how he is performing than just his bike speed.. Holder had started the season somewhat less than most expected. Looking at his mannerism he sometimes seemed too relaxed and just going through the motions, but of late he seems very dialled in and totally focused. He has openly said the AFA has caused him problems in the past and feels he will get better as time goes by. But the Lynn track is never consistent. The last meeting against Swindon , Holder battled well. He pushed Doyle all the way in his first , was the only person to beat Morris in his second after a massive tussle going into the first corner..., then team rode Rose to a 5-1 in his third. In his 4th ride was taken out unmercifully by Doyle into the first corner and left for dead, to trail in last. But all in all he performed well and his bikes were as quick as others..... A point worth noting, Morris's bike seemed exceptionally fast al night. Three times he powered past going down the back straight into the lead after missing the gate, Yet Holder was as quick as Morris in that first race, and although Morris tried, he made little inroads to Holders lead... If I have answered your question then great, I think Chris has had a few problems this years to deal with, New Location, New Club, New Team Mates, all of which takes time to adjust. Give him time and he'll be as good as he ever was... His bikes no worries....
  5. One would have thought so, ...... but in that first meeting Freddie maxed out and Rory only dropped one point in 5 rides .... I cant imagine a Guest and RR will be as strong .... When you are top rider in the league, any replacement for Freddie will come up short. Rory was a tremendous rider for the Wolves track. he usually gates well and when in front don't make many mistakes. He's tailor made for Monmore. Although, Thorsell, Masters, Howarth and Clegg will score extra I cant believe their point haul will be as good. Probably this is a good opportunity for Lynn to take on the strong Wolves outfit ...
  6. After the drubbing we got last time we should be far better this time round. I thought the 59-30 was a bit excessive and missing Huckenbeck really emphasised our weakness in the reserve positions. Now with our latest acquisition in place and Huckenbeck riding so well, I believe the score will be much closer. I don't see us winning at Monmore, but if our reserves can score 5 pts between them, that would make a big difference in the final reckoning.
  7. Bellago and BWD hadn't rode Lynn this year, but both were able to beat Porsing last night.....I have always warmed to Porsing and always thought he had the makings of a decent heatleader, but time moves on. When looking at the bigger picture, I don't think he is any different to the rider we first watched 4 yrs ago. Then he had potential, but blew hot and cold, What changes ?. In his first two rides last night, he was languishing at the back like a newcomer who didn't know the track . his set up was wrong, his bikes appeared slow and although he tried , he made little impression of passing the riders in front. He always has a reason why it happens, but the truth be known it happens every week. Surely he realises the situation. it's OK being a nice guy, someone with the right image to promote the sport in schools, but if you can't do the business on the track then its time to move over..... I once saw him get an impressive maximum, but once a year is not enough.....
  8. Yet another funny meeting...... I always thought we would be too strong for Swindon, but they sure put up a good fight. To be honest I expected more race winners, but I put that down to the track. Whereas last week when all races where entertaining and competitive, tonight most races were over by the back straight. Holder and Lambert really pressed hard when chasing Doyle and Morris but got little or no reward for their troubles... A good gate was everything..... Most races were processional and drawn out. Shame really as there were a big crowd with the Car Parks full. I think Swindon were unlucky in that they came on a night when our new reserve was the most decisive factor on show. Take his points away and we could have lost. Holder battled well before being taken out in ht 13, Batch gated most races but lacked speed down that back straight. 3 times he was out paced. Can't remember the last meeting I went to and ® Lambert didn't win a race. Can't knock his effort, but he should be winning some of those races.... Rose and Huck were solid and reliable, while Porsing flatters to deceive. He ran 2 of Lynn's 3 last places. Then after being dropped from his 3rd ride he came out won heat 12 against an impressive Ellis, in a time as quick as Doyle or Morris... I don't doubt Porsing is capable, but there always seems a reason for doing bad scores.... With Simon, we now have a solid team that can only get better. For the first time this year I now believe we are good enough to make them Play-offs
  9. I see James Sarjeant will guest in place of Dany Gappmaier at reserve for Swindon. In my reckoning that makes them stronger,..... As long as he sits still at the gate I've seen Sarjeant score good points round Saddlebow Road...... Hoping for a good close affair when coming 4th in a heat will not be acceptable....
  10. Yeah the Stars have had a few bad injury years of late and each time it has cost us dearly....... Injuries effect different riders different ways . Both KB and Batch were bad smashes and their mental scares are sometimes worse than the physical ones.., I hate to think what effect some of these accidents have, to us mear watchers it bad enough..... Top riders achieve their status through hard work . and when they are sometimes off their standard everyone jumps on the bandwagon saying this and that without one thought of what the rider is going through. I try to work on the principal that form is temporary, whereas class is far more permanent. When these class riders suffer a set back, give them time and they will recover. I had no doubt that both KB and Batch would regain their prowess and no doubt Holder will do the same...
  11. I will say straight away Holder is as genuine as rider as I have seen. No-one will tell me he's not trying..The way he battled with Bomber last week was something to behold , neither giving an inch. The difference being world class, to being very good is of small margins, Chris although still very good is fractionally off his all conquering best, but it will come........ Just a pity posters cant get off his back and leave him to get it right. At least he is one of the few remaining stars, that are bothered to compete on these shores.....
  12. I think Lambert is a wonderful acquisition and will fill a gaping hole we have at present. If he was able to score a few points he will more than justify his inclusion. In heats 2 and 4 when races against his opposite number he needs to take points from him...... All the other races are covered by other riders..... Our 3 heatleaders are all capable of winning races. (Holder, not firing on all cylinders yet; Batchelor getting better with each meeting; and Lambert wanting to excite) cover 12 races between them and equate to 14 races where it is possible to score a collective 40 points; Our 2 second strings and top reserve are all capable of backing their partner also scoring big points, The advantage of having Rose, Porsing and Huckenbeck as the second group of riders means one of those has to be place in the reserve berth, giving him the opportunity of extra rides.., This alone could be of tremendous advantage, not only for the club , but also the rider. Huckenbeck has been on fire of late and will be promoter to the team proper, swapping places with Porsing. He, although has tried hard, has found points harder to come by . A spell at reserve could be the proverbial he needs to recapture his proven ability. He is way too good to stay as a reserve and will be able to score points for fun.... So you see, the Lambert replacement is not expected to be a top scoring match winner, all he has to do is out score is opposite number in 2 races.....That alone could prove decisive in tight matches......
  13. THis will be close, My perception of Swindon is that of a 2 man side at best but two top riders that have to be controlled. We need to perform as a whole team, excepting Doyle and Morris will win most of their races. We need enough points not having to rely on winning heats 13 and 15. when Swindon come on strong... I cant see Swindon having enough riders to trouble the majority of the heats and hope we have enough leeway to keep the jitters at bay.... Prediction: Lynn by 6, (with Doyle getting 13 and Morris 11). Sorry Sidney !!!!
  14. Cant believe your philosophy about a No 7. He is a rider destined by the worse average. and would not be expected to beat heat leaders. But he is more than capable of scoring points in reserve races and that something we have been missing with Bailey. All riders points scoring ability is of equal importance. Every point our rider scores then that equates to double because the opponent rider cannot secure the same point. If a reserve scores nil her is of little use, but if he scores 4 pts that actually equate to 8 , because that 4 pts the opposition cant score...... So the few points Lambert scores will be worth far more than we do at present.....
  15. The amount of times Cradley has won the NL, it should have been compulsary for them to move up. The reason we are in this position is because the same old reason in that individual clubs are more important than the sport it self.,,, There is no credit in always being a big fish in a little ponds. We proved that at Lynn dropping down a league. Yeah we won a lot, but we always knew it wasn't that important. Its the big one that really matters,... For you to receive the credits a winning team deserves, than you should reach for the top..... Bit like watching West Ham FC winning the fourth division...
  16. Simon Lambert would be the obvious answer. He has ridden for the Stars before with some success. My gut feeling is that Jake Knight is of similar strength as Bailey, although a better gater, he like Josh, would find the standard of racing was just too hard....
  17. The Managers at Lynn can be many things, but ruthless is not one of them. 'Striking while the iron is hot' is the attribute of an astute Manager. Teams like Wolves have shown that you need to be abreast with the rules to make them work for you. Waiting around and opportunities can be lost... Now that the season is in full swing, most of the riders are fulfilling their potential we all thought they would, with the exception of Porsing. Like you I have been disappointed with his scores and expected better. But saying that I don't feel it would be the right move to swap him... He has so much more to give and is a capable rider. Probably a spell in the reserve berth will relight his fire s and kick on to become the race winner he can be.... Going on your figures above, I think it would be very hard to replace Porsing with a rider whose average fits or one with the same potential . We have time on our side at the moment as the PO are not the be all at present.... I'm sure once Porsing gets dialled in he will be as productive as the other riders... The BSPA made the reserves positions a joke.. Riders like .Bailey never had a chance, he was only there to make the numbers up.. ( It annoys so much that riders are invited in then dropped to suit the men in charge...They were always going to be out of their depth).... Bailey will now be replaced by another who obviously has more experience to cope. with the pressures of riding in the Premiership. I think having one strong reserve and one weaker has advantages over 2 mediocre ones.
  18. I wasn't judging you mate and yes you're entitled to an opinion as much as I. Like you say you pay your money and have a view like the rest of us... But that first posting about Chris I thought was on the strong side.. He has been performing below his expected level, but as we have all seen in recent weeks he is gradually recapturing his old form.... Things are looking better....
  19. I try to remember, it's not my position to judge people. It would be so wrong to expect everyone is made the same way. It is obvious that Chris is experiencing problems, exactly what they are, is having an effect on his ability to be the rider he once was. As a former World Champion, nobody can question his natural talent. People like me, take in every race, looking for small margins in a quest to adjudge how well he's doing. I am in no doubt he will succumb these issues and return the world class rider he has always been.
  20. He doing OK... Not of the quality he is known for but still doing a reasonable job. Coming to a new club takes time to settle in and be part of. From all accounts he's enjoying his time at Kings Lynn and no doubt the form will improve as he becomes part of a new team... Made a poor start in his first ride and was taken out on the first corner. from then on he struggled to get back into contention. In rides 2,3and 4 he score well and was only beaten by the irrepressible Bomber Harris... Paid 8 from 3 rides is ok . He is now scoring decent points and is a valued member of the 2017 side.......
  21. Strange meeting that, Some brilliant races, fantastic team riding, close racing, fluctuating scores, this meeting had it all, but somehow the excitement was somewhat subdued.. Probably the effects of what had happened recently, but the crowd reaction didn't match what was happening on the track. Forgetting the first 4 races, the track from then on produced some magical racers not bettered for some time. People saying Lynn was a 'Gate and Go' track was last night made to eat their words. A Big well done to Buster..... .... Anybody watching speedway for the first time would have been enthralled with the exciting racing and will surely come again. Chris Harris deserves a special mention for an exceptional display. He showed his true ability, (and immense speed) to come from the back 3 times to record an impressive 15 pt Max. All the other on show, all managed to slip up at least once during the night. Holder, Batch, Lambert, Huckenbeck, Rose. Nicholls, Robson all contributed to the meeting with their forceful riding. I never felt the result was ever in doubt, regardless of the score, but Bomber sure made it interesting.... Felt sorry for Bailey who is completely out of his comfort zone... Even when he had the opportunity in Ht 2 to get a point, the Ref made a pigs ear of the rerun, allowing Bamford to get a massive roller from 15mtr catching Bailey before the first corner... What a Joke !!! Yeah, a win is a win, another 3pts to the cause, The matches to come will be harder than this, and can't help thinking the Stars will need to do better.
  22. Queue up at the ticket office, where they will replace it with a current one. Hope you enjoy your visit. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as Rye House will battle well. Kennet does go well here as does Scotty and Bomber..... Obviously hope you don't win, but want to see a decent match.....
  23. For the life of me, I don't understand the logic, behind the idea to wait until the day before the meeting, to post comments and thought for the coming match. With so much Social Media at ones finger-tips, surely it wouldn't be too hard to post these comments at the weekend prior to the event. Although Wednesday is suppose to be our race days, they are not programmed in regularly. sometimes we have a 2 week break, sometimes 3 wks, sometimes they come every week. The point being most punters want to plan their week in advance, not wait until Tuesday before hey are advised of a meeting.... With the opportunity a Website gives, there should be no excuse for promotors to behave as ours do. They could change, up-dates, include comments from riders and fans, even giving a rundown of the forth coming events. All it needs is a decent PR man, and the world is their oyster..... If this practise were to bring an extra 5 fans through the gate each week, imagine the receipts come the end of the year......
  24. Any team with two big hitters will always be in with a chance of winning, and yes they will be in with a shout come the play-offs. Lots can happen in the coming weeks. Rosco can strengthen his squad once the new figures become available so to dismiss any team at this early stage would be silly. Two months into the season and only Wolves have shone brightly leaving the other teams to up their game . There have been many strange results, ones that few saw beforehand. No doubt there will be some more in the pipe line...... Cant remember the forum being so quite about Poole chances, but come the PO they could be there as so with the others... Wolves appear to have the upper hand at the moment, But a few years back we were sitting pretty some 30pts clear at the top when everything came apart... So nothing over till the Fat Lady sings
  25. I don't know why you say you're totally the opposite, you are saying exactly as I posted. These terrorists will not stop me doing as I normally do, only that I find it very hard and insensitive to be celebrating and shouting my enjoyment, when there are those grieving for loved one they have lost... I agree, you don't know what's round the corner, but I think any celebrations this week would be badly timed....,
