  1. What I mean by a quality No.7 is someone who is keen and talented. and wants to learn from riding with experience riders... something like Dan Bewley or Jack Smith... I'm' not expecting an established rider but someone who is destined for the top league. His No1 priority is he has to be able to gate. Josh Bailey was always up against it when last out of the gate. I thought Jake Knight equipped himself quite well against Wolves and is worth persevering with..... Rather do that then bring it guests of other teams....
  2. Personally I don't like the Team Managers take on meetings where he glorifies the positives. I would much prefer the 'Say it like it was approach' Yesterday he went on how wonderful the team effort was to claw back into contention when we were so far adrift, . but the fact was, we had been truly hammered. Our positives from this meeting were few, and accounted for 2 brilliant 5-1 heats. But listening to Dale, you would think we did really well. The only reason we were in contention at the end was for stupid double points rule. Probably if the riders were listening to this assessment, they probably thought they did well...... I still believe there is not much wrong with the Lynn team. They need to perform better, as individuals and as a team. With the exception of Lambert, all the riders could be classed as decent gaters. We shouldn't fear anyone especially on home soil. We desperately need a 'Schlein' as captain or manager, someone to encourage, advise and motivate the team. We don't seem to have that enthusiasm any more and simply going through the motion.. The view from the terraces is that the team don't wake up until the chips are down, so surely this can be seen in the pits..... I'll go along with that. I'd had seen Jorgensen before and had been impressed. Against BV he was thrown in the deep end, but didn't disgrace himself. I thought he was unlucky to be excluded from his second ride, but it was his forceful attitude that got him into contention. I'm in no doubt he will be a tremendous asset to the Stars team. Give him a few meetings to get accustomed and he will be a solid second string with Huckenbeck, with Rose relegated to the top reserve. All we need is a quality No.7 and a 'Kick up the Arse' for the rest... To supply only 4 race winners was criminal.......
  3. I have probably stuck up for Buster more than most and always gave him the benefit of any doubt. He has made no secret that him acquiring the Chairmanship of the BSPA has diminished his priority for Kings Lynn and now he is there through necessity rather than love. I appreciated it is his business and needs to be run on solid footing, but nobody is asking him to be foolishly spending good money after bad is not the way to go. However, in this business, the promoter has to speculate to accumulate if he is to succeed. Is it coincidental that the top teams of Wolves, Belle Vue and Poole have all made big changes in their quest to win, knowing a winning side is supported more than a losing one. In these recent times we were in desperate need of changes. There were rider available but the Stars bosses thought differently. They would rather continue as they are, hoping the fans aren't that concerned. At least we now know we will not be challenging for honours, and whether we reach the play-off is irrelevant. No doubt the fans will continue to drift away, they have had enough of these penny pinching ideas, but more than that, they are fed up being taken for a ride. Such a sad story.........
  4. After our Belle Vue performance It really does highlight our inadequacies. I thought as a team, we would be better by now and the riders would performing at a level we all expected from them, but unfortunately that is not the case. As we have seen recently we don't cut the mustard when against the top teams. Here is my opinion of the season so far, and how our team has been performing.. Chris Holder: I was well chuffed when it was announced he would be replacing Niels this season. Thinking along the lines he was one of the few who was capable of replacing our star turn.. But things haven't turned out that way. I have great respect for Holder, who has been up against it from the start. He really tries and battles hard, but the results haven't been as he would hoped. He has had his personal problems, plus the settling in issues and his machinery not as it was, it all adds more pressure on Chris to fulfil his obligation. He is far from the dominant No 1 we had hoped for . Things can only get better... B- Robert Lambert: I remember seeing him score 21 pt max riding for the Young Stars at 15 years of age, and thought what a talent. I was blown away by someone so young and thoughts were of another Michael Lee for sure. Now 3 yrs down the road he hasn't made the heights I imagined. Yes I know he has figured in some amazing tussles and has a large fan base. But to me its all about scoring points. He doesn't do enough when against better opposition. He has only won 1 of his last 9 races at home, and that's not good enough. I would much rather see a rider scoring 12pts from the gate than 6pts from the back. Robert has it all, except that gating ability. Unless he can master that, he will never reach the level everyone want him to.. Time to step up. B- Troy Batchelor: As expected a far better season than last. His form is something like we once knew. An accomplished gater who in front goes very quick, Sometimes struggle to pass when behind. Always manages to have one bad ride per meeting. As the season progresses so does his form.. B+ Lewis Rose: I thought he would do well to continue with his present form in a league where second strings are becoming stronger. A decent gater and good team man, Lewis has scored some important points. Not blessed with the skills of others, he make up for that with grit and determination...Doing OK. B Nick Porsing: I expected far more than Nick has delivered. Has so much potential but usually it doesn't show. If he could step up and do what we all know he's capable of, there would be no talk of replacing him... Disappointing so far.. C. Tai Huckenbeck: He more than anybody has been a godsend. has exceeded far more than anyone expected and has been our saviour many times. Without doubt top rider so far... A+ Dale Allitt: I find it difficult to understand how anyone can make financial decision without having control of the purse strings, therefore Dale must have a difficult jobs sourcing new riders . Whether he's the right man for the job has still to be seen. B Hope this assessment has not offended anyone and is of my opinion only....
  5. If I didn't know any different , I would believe Buster is doing alll he can to really P--z people off. We started late, we had a 18min grading break after ht 6, then another 16min Interval / Grading break after ht 10.. Don't he realise people want to go home, they don't want to watch him driving that bloody tractor all night. When Twitter said Poole and Leicester had finished, we still had 4 races to run. Now if the track had been good, then probably we could except the delays. but when we consistently have this gate and go fiasco I don't see why we need so many delays.... The racing was poor too. apart from 2 or 3 exceptions most races were strung out and processional.. I must say speedway is not like it use to be.... Our team is poor when comparing it with the likes of Belle Vue. They like Wolves are light years ahead of us... With the exception of Huckenbeck they were better in every position. Ever race they had winners, If their HL (heat leader) faltered they had SS ( Second String) to step up. To provide only 4 race winners illustrates how poor we were. The fact we were within 1 point with only 1 race to go was down to the implementation of that stupid double point rule. Belle Vue were streets ahead and thoroughly deserved their success. It makes little sense challenging for them Play-off places when we perform like this. What is the point of competing a semi-final when we cant beat these teams on home soil.
  6. Up until mid 90's, when the Sugar Corporation owned most of the land. There where many Pine and Fern trees around the Railway lines, and circled their playing field. That helped to protect the Stadium from the rays from the sun. and as been said the sun was only a problem when it was real low.. Now the land has been sold off to various ideas and ventures, the trees have since gone and replaced with businesses Coupled to that, the speedway bikes of today are a different animal to what they used to be. Where once throttle control was everything, easing off never had the consequences it does today. The bikes are so much faster, and the competition far more equal , all elements that have to be a consideration. I don't suppose the dark colour of the shale offers any help either... Why not plan to start meetings at 7.45 prompt, with introductions and practises, with the first race at 8pm. That would eliminate most of the hold -ups... A good meeting director and referee , could easily catch that delay up, Last week against Wolves we had a track grade after heat 4, we had another after heat 8 (this went on for some 10 mins), We then had an interval after heat 10, A young boy sitting in front of us with his smart phone was keeping tabs on the meeting. He said Dad, that tractor has been going round for 26mins, If that was correct, that was longer than the racing took... What I'm trying to say if we need to delay the start because of the sun lets do it right and plan it, Set the meeting to a timetable, Grade track after ht4, take the interval after ht8 and plan to finish at the same time.... Don't have a track grade then 2 races later have an interval. If there is a hold-up let it incorporate the interval as well. Lets put more importance into the appreciation of the supporters... and not have them hanging around as of present....
  7. Not knowing the full story, but from the pictures on the television I was of the impression, Barker and Co were trying to pull a fast one (cheat) by using a Chris Harris tyre for the final. This would have been illegal. Surely, rather then give Barker time to change the tyre back, the Ref should have disqualified him......
  8. Not usually afriad to predict an outcome, but this is more difficult. I believe Belle Vue are stronger or at least as good as Wolves. They have shown already their liking for our track. Most of the riders are decent gaters, so any result is going to be hard fought. Last week I was there and couldn't believe the lack lustred display we were afforded. I know our team was decimated, but we didn't show any appetite until the match was lost. Only then did we show any fight... I would like to think that was a one off and tomorrow we will be there from the start with all guns blazing.. . If we perform as we know we can, this will be tight. So I'm hedging my bets and going for a 'Squeaky Bum' draw......
  9. He's was always capable of that. The problem with Barker is he is so inconsistent. If he would ride every week like he did last night, every club in the country would be queueing up for him.... But they are not. That answers all the questions....
  10. I hear he's lined up to replace Rambo Lambert. He will do all the remaining home matches and 3 away meetings before going back to Poland., After all we don't want him to mess up the new CMA scheme with them assessed averages .
  11. So please with the result last night, Cookie was the deserving winner of the everning and not just the winner of a single race that determines the British Champion... I'm sure he will ruffle a few feathers in Cardiff. The number of times we have been told its not possible to have a decent track when the weather is hot, was truely put to bed last night. The NSS track was tremendous and shown how track should perform....
  12. He is something of an enigma Sometimes he's brilliant, other times anything but.. If he could perform consistently, like he did last night, there would be clubs queueing up for his signature. It must be frustrating for Team Managers and fans not knowing which Barker was going to turn up... Last night was the perfect window of opportunity, lets hope he can consolidate his obvious talent ...
  13. Never slow to bemoan my feelings of the management when they are slow to make a change, Let me say a big WELL DONE to signing of Thomas Jorgensen as a replacement for Porsing.. The 2, if not 3 times I have seen him ride he has always impressed me by his forceful style. I'm sure he will be a positive addition to the Lynn team.... Dale Allitt : Well done That man.....
  14. Are there 32 British riders good enough to be considered to be British Champion. That's how many riders you need to have 2 semi-finals and a Final. Bearing in mind the number of meetings these riders have to race wouldn't it be better to give the top eight riders a free pass to the final and the field made up of one semi-final of 16 riders when the first 8 goes into the final. Then the final will be assured of all the top riders, It will be a bigger draw to the fans and television.
  15. I always thought KB form would return, Everyone could see his issues of nervousness. Once his confidence returned he was always going to win races with his smooth style....Never a doubt he would return to heat leader status. Rory was different, his injuries were life threatening, Not only was it his inability to ride but also the mental strength to overcome such tragic accident. Even though Rory maintained he was always going to return I thought he would be ideal to become our Team Manager... But true to his word Rory has returned and for which I take my hat off to him. Seeing him last week at the Wolves match was rewarding for all the hard work he has had to do...He has lost none of his gating prowess.. I don't think he would ever return to Kings Lynn because of the public argument he had with Buster one day, over the track and safety issues, There were a lot of out-spoken words that shouldn't have been said, especially in public.... Can't see that ever being forgotten, from either man.......
  16. Facts, that the British Final is being run without 2 of the strongest riders needs to be sorted. Too late this year, but it wouldn't be too difficult to seed the top 8 riders straight to the final. After all its not as if we are overrun with class riders..... Personally I would like to see Craig Cook win tomorrow. Been riding now for some time and has more than proved his talent. Probably he stayed too long in the easier league, but if he has any ideas of making It to the top and ultimately into SGP, in need to be winning championships like this. Bomber and Nichol are experience campaigners but their time has gone. We need someone new to kick on to better things and Cookie would be ideal person to be British Champion.......
  17. Would that be a bad thing ?..... Porsing has disappointed so much... Loads of potential but little or no improvement. . His scores are no better now than they were 4 yrs ago. Of all Lynn riders, he is the one who's average has dropped the most. Probably a change will do him good. If he can't score good points on the Lynn track its time for him to go.
  18. After all these years, one get fed-up being the bridesmaid every time... Every year when the teams are announced us fans have high hopes, that this could be that. year. 2017 is no different . The signing of Holder showed the promotions were serious. We wanted this to be that year.... I voiced my opinion, believing that Dale Allitt was the wrong man to lead us. Thinking along the lines of inspiration I have yet to be convinced he is that man... I spoke my piece and that was that, I haven't mentioned it again, although I am yet to see anything to change my mind.. This season was a new beginning for the sport. The format has changed, the emphasis is more on teams rather than individuals. Never has the time been better to grasp that initiative. But we are falling into the same old trap of not being proactive and excepting our mis-fortunes when these accidents happen... Nobody will convince me it was right to run the meeting last Wednesday night. Our team was depleted through injury and the strength of R/R was null nevoid because Huckenbeck was missing as well. The result was determined before the day and the match only served the purpose of ripping off the fans... It would have better for all concerned to have gave them the tie, instead of running a meeting that would give them added confidence when we meet again in the league. Wolves aren't at the top of the league by chance, they recognised their weaknesses early on sign replacements in Rory Schlein and Mark Riss and since have gone from strength to strength. We could have done the same, Imagine our team now had we changed Rory instead of Porsing. But that is not the way Lynn works.... We need 2 new riders now. We cant wait to find out the state of those injured. We have big meetings coming up and need that strength of a full team. Guests and RR don't do anybody any favours only puts pressure on the other riders. What is a real shame is that we are a fraction off being that top team, Waiting will only jeopardise the good work that has been done already.... If I have offended anybody with my views,.... I apologise; If I am wrong to have an opinion, I will also apologise. But if you believe I have to agree with what others then you'll be disappointed
  19. Wouldn't it when proper if the BSPA had made a statement informing everybody what was going to happen regarding the change over. Dates of implementing and the effect this would have. Or is that asking too much.........
  20. Probably I was one of those you were referring too as disgruntled fans, and I take nothing back of what I posted... Yes, the Stars done really well last night to win 4 pts away, but if we had contemplated going there without Huckenbeck then the result would have been the same as the Wolves match... It wasn't the fact we lost last Wednesday, but it was the way we lost. It was unfortunate 2 riders had bad injuries, but it was the lost of Huckenbeck that tipped the scaled. I still believe teams made up of 3 guests or R/R is of a contempt to the fans...and shouldn't be allowed. Matches like that should be re-arranged.... I still wait with baited breath, what the management are going to do covering our weaknesses. Any team with ideas of success should have riders lined up to cover these absenteeism of form and injury. Last night we got out of jail with Huckenbeck riding at reserve. We won't have them luxuries when these long awaited new figures come out.... Yes last night we did well. Holder, Batch, Lambert and Huckenbeck all came to the party and showed what we are capable of. But we will need more than FEW GOOD MEN to beat Belle Vue next week..... ...............( You can't handle the truth: Brilliant film)
  21. Nothing was more ridiculous then having to use PL averages in a EL league. Added to that the riders who hadn't got a PL average had to multiply their EL with a 1.4 evaluation to form some sort of levelling factor. When questioned it was said these figures are for team construction only and new proper figures to be used when attained from matches this year. There has been no announcement made from that point. We then hear riders will now need to have 4 H and 4 A before they will be changed, That I don't understand. Any figure attained, be from 1 , 3, 5 meetings has to be more realistic and accurate than the rubbish we are using at present.. Then it was announced no changes would be implemented until all Clubs had completed 4H and 4A in the view of fairness. God knows what fairness has to do with it.. Some teams will have played far more than others using this higher scores.. We will be almost to July, and teams and riders are still using fictitious figures, fabricated back in February.... The delay has made the whole idea laughable... One has to ask if we can compete using this stupid PL method for half a season, why do we need averages at all. Let clubs pick the riders they want.... Simple, anything has to be better than we have at present....
  22. Huckenbeck is going to have a busy night by the looks of it. He will have his 4 rides, plus 2 of Porsing's, and also one of Carr's rides. If he has an E/F we could be in S---te street. And this has all been created by these stupid average delay.....
  23. Bit of a sweeping statement that. During my time with this sport I have been to many tracks, including quite a few that have since closed. but to say 'fitted around a Greyhound/stock car/ football/rugby pitch etc. is probably more right than wrong, but not all these tracks are poor. The biggest problem is that the sport has changed and bike are now totally different to what was once used... These High revving machines need more space to perform. Some tracks are destined to be poor each week, others can be good and bad. Some are amazing and serve up top notch racing each week. Of the ones that remain, Belle Vue must be the top choice. but bearing in mind the Planning, and financing if it wasn't, then serious questions would be asked.. The problem we have at Lynn is more to do with the shale than the shape or the Stock Car usage. I am in no doubts if we had the proper stuff, prepared as it should, the racing would be far better. To me the quality of racing is more important than the result.....
