  1. This will be a big test for our new team. Poole always goes well here and I cant see this being any different. Most of their riders relish the opportunity on this track, so we need to be all guns blazing . I feel we are capable of winning this , but it will be tight.. I think we will have to rely on wining heats 13 and 15 to sneak all the points....
  2. Such a precise track that gives the home side a massive advantage. Although most teams are fairly equal in strengths, some will always find Monmore track difficult to master. Poole have never performed well here, but have the personnel to put up a strong showing. I don't rate Wolves as strong as some others do, and feel riding at home covers up their weaknesses. Thorsell, Masters an Schlein are good heat leaders at home, but all are beatable away. Howarth is the jewel in the crown who is capable of beating most when it maters. I'm going for a home win, but wont be surprised if Poole sneak a point......
  3. I have always been a fan of KB. and feel Leicester have acquired a more than adequate replacement for Vaculik. Immaculately turned out, with exceptional machinery, he is a ideal example of a true professional. An exceptional gater who wins more races than most, will add to Leicester's team strength. Grouping KB with King and Andersen makes the Lions formidable. I think Swindon have started well and have performed above expectations. I cant imagine anybody expected them to thrash Poole last week, so for that reason one has to assume they will push Leicester to the limit. It will be interesting to see how their reserves perform on a precise track. I also think this will be a close call, with Swindon getting at least a point. NB: I seem to remember last year Batchelor guested for Swindon and scored 12, 2 days later he rode there again for Lynn and scored 2. Same venue, same opposition, different mindset. ........... I wonder which one will turn up on Monday !!!
  4. Looking forward to this one, It should be a close call. The fact that Killer is riding surely makes Poole a stronger unit and any success would taste even sweeter. Its pleasing Holder wont be riding, the last thing we want to hear about is all the bad feelings he created last year. Lets move on and concentrate on our new team and a new season. The damage Holder done last season will never be forgotten, but it would be wrong if this remained the governing factor between both these teams.....
  5. I am in no doubt Batchelor would have given his all to beat them horrible people from East Anglia in heat 15. . It would have made little difference on what he was being paid, or that the points had already been decided, cause he hates Kings Lynn with a vengeance, - and that is what makes the result even sweeter. Only a fool would dismiss the Robins at home, so to push them pretty close I thought we performed impressively. Looking at the scores of last night, we have to be confident of contesting well with all the teams we have to meet on our travels.... That for the predicted Wooden Spoonist, is bound to put egg on quite a few faces....
  6. There's only one thing wrong being at the top of the league, the only movement you can make is:.. .......... Downwards....
  7. I cant believe these comments on here questioning the performance of NKI. He was sidelined last year with a bad injury. he's been out of action for nearly 9months and you expect him to jump back on a bike and immediately recapture his old self. What are you people like. Give him a month or so and then judge him. I witnessed enough from him on Wednesday to see he is someway off the form we know he can produce, but he still did more than enough to silence his doubters.... Last night, in Ht15, with our backs against the wall. he was one of those nominated to rescue something from the meeting and dutifully came up with the goods. No, I have no worries about NKI returning to his former self..... I thought we performed really well to come away from Swindon with a point. Hadn't it been for Roberts engine troubles, and Rose's accident, the result could have been even closer...... After waiting what seemed like an eternity, we have had a good couple of days to kickstart our season. Cant wait for the next instalment...
  8. A big well done to the Stars on a impressive showing. There wont be many teams who get a point at Swindon, and we did that with a few hiccups along the way... We can improve on that . Roll on next week.
  9. You're not serious. surely ???. Just to get this straight, if you haven't ridden here for some time, then you keep your old average. but if you rode here last year, after you have to ridden in 4H/4A and you get a new one. What was all that about transparent rules set in stone
  10. Really !! I thought this years scores were added on to their existing to update their CMA each month. So if as you say, that is the case am I to believe all riders have to do likewise and all of them receive a new average after they have rode in 4H & 4A. NB: Always a difficult place to go and be successful. i would like to think we are good enough to get a point, but a safe meeting with no reoccurrence of last weeks accidents will do...
  11. Losing Kerr from reserve could happen at the end of the month anyway??
  12. Using the long term R/R is riddled with scenarios. and should be avoided at all times. R/R is OK for a one off meeting but anything longer than that is asking for trouble. Scaphoid breaks can be a pain with no set time for recovery. Sometimes it's short and others take forever. The only sensible way to go, would be to replace Rose with a 28 days temporary rider permit... Have to feel sorry for Rose and the endless stream of injuries he suffers. He probably needs to tame that aggression a bit.....
  13. I understand what you say, but as soon as the accident happened the ref put on the red lights immediately. Yes Friske was impeded but carried on. Rose fell, remounted and rode off. I didn't think it was necessary to stop the race at that time, and any disqualification could have been done at the end of the race. The Ref in affect, gave Friske another opportunity to win a race that he was at that time losing.... Merely an opinion of how I saw it. Apart from that I thought the Ref did will....
  14. Sure did enjoy that first meeting, A big crowd, good weather, happy atmosphere, exciting racing and a brilliant result. All the things that will entice supporters to come and watch.. I was expecting a good performance, especially after all the fitness and team work that's gone on preseason , so was not surprised by their attitude. Belle Vue, it anything disappointed me. After a bright start they seems to drift away from the competition and excepted defeat too easily. I expected more from Friske and Cookie, and some of the others. I appreciate they were a couple of riders short but I expected more than they showed... Their brightest star was young Bewley. What a talent, he stood out like a shinning beacon. Smooth, fast competitive, this boy has it all. Last night BV's total would have looked poor had it not been for the points he scored. Being nominated for h15 was just reward for the performance he put in. In the past I have been one of the first when moaning about Lambert , so let me say how pleased I was to see such an epic performance from our new Captain. He was everything a top rider should be. I was amazed his gating has at last come good, allowing him to get out with the others. He was majestic, either from the gate or from the back he was in a class of his own. Hopefully this is going to be the year he arrives on the big stage and be excepted as a world class star.. Tonight, he was supreme..... Probably it was wrong to pick out Robert as our starman because the whole team performed well. both individually and as a unit. Proctor showed what a 3rd heatleader he is can be, Kerr will always be scoring good points, and TJ was what we have come to expect. NKI had a funny night , sometime scoring well and other times he struggled, but he will come good. Both Rose and Andersen had their moments, but all in all a encouraging first meeting. No doubt there will be harder meetings than this one... On the whole there were more positives than I expected. The track was pretty good, but that third bend needs looking at, Looking down from our high vantage point a lot of riders were nervous and easing off going into the bend. Experienced riders like Niels and Cookie were having issues, on some racing lines. I thought the Ref did a good job, excepting the Red light coming on in Ht6 too quick. There was no need to stop the race when the track was clear. It gave BV another chance to win the race that they had already lost. Thankfully Niels won the rerun... It had been a long wait, but it felt good to be back at Saddlebow Road. Back in January when the teams were announced, I thought we would struggle, but after watching last night I now believe we are good enough to compete, and that has to be good, not only for the Stars supporters but for the Sport as well....
  15. Cant imagine BV going home empty handed. Its bound to be a close match with the outcome decided by the results of heats 13 and 15... Either way i shall be happy, regardless of the score.... It seems like an eternity since we last went to a Speedway meeting....
  16. Funny what years do to you. When I was younger, I could never get enough sleep, Now, I don't go to bed early and cant wait to be up . Cant remember sleeping 4 more than 5 hrs....
  17. That is, when you have to get up and go to school the next day. Appreciate you coming from Boston at a bad time of the day, but surely, you leaving 15 min earlier is not a big deal either.... My feelings are. Speedway needs to appeal to the families and to do that we have to promote a slick program eliminating hold ups and be finished early. The families then can go home to get their youngster to bed. Having additional junior races after the interval will always go down well......
  18. When looking at the team the Rebels have got, they are totally reliant on Doyle. He has to score big for them to be competitive. Last night Leicester were firing on all cylinders and were way too strong. Leicester will have harder nights than this, but well done on a thumping win....
  19. How many 'Heat Leaders' do you want ??? you have 4 already...
  20. This appears the only match on to-night, the other two, Wolves/Rye House and Leicester/ Somerset are both walkovers. All over bar the shouting by the halfway stage...... That won't bring many new fans in ......
  21. Was impressed watching Noddy and Fricke on Polish television yesterday. Both had good sped and scored good points. Think this is a good time to race against BV, so imagine Poole will win quite comfortable. But given time for their riders to get dialled in and a adequate replacement for the unfortunate Worrall , BV will be a tougher nut to crack....
  22. Remembering when Rory had a testimonial , there was a fastest lap competition for the top riders. If something like that could be initiated, it would add additional interest to the proceeding.. at very little expense It could be run over the whole season with a reward for the quickest.... NB Wed match vs BV : after Mondays performance against Poole, BV will be confident coming here. This will not be easy and could go either way. Both our top guns need to be firing big scores for us to stand a chance. Its been a long wait since last August to go to a meeting. Cant Wait.....
  23. All speedway in this country suffers from the VFM tag that it has always being labelled with. Having additional laps, or better still, a couple of planned practice races would be a big hit with all clubs. Anything extra would be an added bonus to the standard 15 heats format...
  24. Sad news to hear the passing of Ivan Mauger. A true gentleman who became a legend. I have always regarded him as the most complete rider I ever saw. He took professionalism to a different level. and showed lesser riders the way to win. His degree of detail was beyond limits. He more than any other paved the way for the sport as it is today. A truly tragic lost..... RIP Ivan...
