King's Lynn vs Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg 16-05-2018
g13webb replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When you look at the Polish meetings on Sunday afternoons you understand the differences between their sharp presentation and that of ours . All their meetings are run like clock work. You get the first four races run to a tight schedule, While one race is being run the next is being got ready. The 2mins means 2 mins the riders don't do much gardening , like they do in the UK. After 4 races there is a mini interval where the track is graded and punters go to the stalls for food or drinks. Heat 5 and the cycle is repeated . Crisp presentation that keeps everybody happy. Why do we fine that so hard to do ???? -
Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018

From the racing I've seen from and at the NSS , riders performances don't always coincide with their form at that time, so it could be that the 3 guest riders will put up a decent effort and score sufficient points to make it interesting. No disputing Fricke and Cook's class, but they haven't been hitting those big numbers we know they are capable of, so probably, this might just be a special night when those guests contribute to a close competitive meeting when the result is in doubt until the end.... We can but hope... -
Fixed night farce-how much longer
g13webb replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The biggest problems we have with our sport is the BSPA is run by people who think only of themselves and their own clubs, Such a short sighted vision, that has controlled all that is wrong for more years than can by remembered. In no other sport would it be possible for the 'lower level' to control the top teams just because of their numbers. But in speedway its all to obvious, even a blind man can see it. Our sport is riddled with 'on the minute' rule changes , brought in on a whim, without being properly thought though. We all hope next year they will get it right , but inevitably it is the same shambolic existence... And that's the way out sport continues. The sport needs some stability, and to do that we need structure and vision for the future. Unfortunately, I don't see any of them virtues in the BSPA. Their motto appears to be live today and let tomorrow take care of itself. In an ideal world an ' Independent Governing Body' , would solve most of the ingrown problems. but we know that will never happen. So the alternative has to be a structure set in stone. Rules that would need 12months notice for any changes, and then needing a big percentage of votes before implementing.. Example: The league to consist of 3 divisions, Each year 1 team gets promoted and 1 relegated. The top league will race on Thursday & Friday , 2nd division will race on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday & Saturday ; 3rd Division Sundays (Days that can be recognised in Europe) Riders are to be free agents, to sign 12 mth contract only, and be allowed to sign for 2 UK leagues only. If there were fixture clashes then the top team would always take preference. Rolling CMA to the over 12 matches within the last 18 months. Team strength to be set at 45 pts.. Riders with no current CMA would be assessed by a representative committee .on an agreed structure... These are only an example of a structure laid down, but once these fundamentals were set in stone, the only issues to be sorted at the AGM is day to day running of the sport... Everyone would know all the rules, everyone would know the future, and each club would want to progress to the top league.... Hopefully this could end all the problems we experience at present. -
Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018

Surely, if Belle Vue cant field a team then Lynn would agree to a postponement . (Seem to remember Poole was given that facility when they were to race against Lakeside some years back). I cant believe meetings like this can ever benefit the sport and any success Lynn may achieve would only be a hollow victory.. anyway. Sure, I would love the Stars to win, but its need to be raced for, not given to them.... Ridiculous situation.... -

I'm not a lover of these fixtures, but they were always on the horizon when implementing the FRN idea. Yes, we may have eliminated the problems with D/U but when teams have their big hitters missing, inevitably there aren't anybody adequate to fill their places, because other teams will usually be racing the same night. Its not the ideal scenario of promoting the sport nor does it encourage fans to spend their hard earnt money... -
Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The way the Stars are riding at the moment , R/R would always be the preferred option . Auty likes the AFA and usually scores well. The difference between him and MPT is minimal . The biggest factor here was that Leicester were missing all their big hitters which helped Lynn's cause . My biggest argument was not the issue of riders missing but the club keeping everything a secret. Strange, come Wednesday afternoon, we had announcements and Tweets coming by the bucket load. All that was needed to be done was a notice on the website, saying we are without Niels and MPT next week, we are doing all that is possible to cover them. So easy and would have answered all the queries about who was missing and why... If they had thought of the fans in the correct way, that should have been the first thing they did, not the last one... -

Well I also went and enjoyed the racing. The night started off giving me a massive 'fix'. Them 16 bikes all starting off after the presentation give off a intoxicating smell. When I breathe that I'm on cloud 9. You gave a pretty good account of the races . If only they put more urgency into the evening instead of dragging it out it would appease far more fans... 15min track grading is enough to cheese most people off, even on a warm night -

What is it about the organisations that can get their planning so wrong. This weekend there are 3 qualifiers on Saturday 19th, and one on Monday 21st. Surely it wouldn't have be too difficult to have all those riders programme to race in a Monday league match to be given one of the Saturday qualifier rounds. Lynn have been spared this time round with both Niels and Lambert doing a Saturday qualifier, whereas Cook and Friske are doing the Monday one... Its difficult to prophesise the outcome until we hear about the replacements Belle Vue intend to use. With Leicester Vs Wolves and Swindon Vs Rye House on the same night, the choices are few and far between. One thing for sure, the Lynn Stars won't have better chance of picking up a point or two, on this fortunate opportunity. You could say all the cards stacked against Belle Vue. and Lynn are holding all the 'ACES' -
King's Lynn vs Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg 16-05-2018
g13webb replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not the meeting I had expected it to be . After 4 winners in the first 5 heats, Leicester were then totally overcome and never won another heat. Was that because the Stars were that good, or was it that Leicester wasn't up for a fight. It was hard to tell. Guests Schlein and Wells battled hard but the rest were disappointing. Robert Lambert is really benefitting from his new gating prowess. But for a wicked lift coming out of L4B2 he would have secured another maximum. It would be wrong to pick out individuals as all the Stars gave a creditable display that will only benefit them as a team. I am in no doubt Leicester suffered more than the Stars with top riders missing. and although on another day they would have been a tougher nut to crack, I still believe the Stars would have won with the determination they showed last night. It was my intention to go to the after show meet in the bar, but the meeting dragged on.. and on. The attendance was down from the start, but when its that cold we need to press on. After 4 heats we have long track grade. It felt like the tractor took as long as the racing. After ht 8 we have another track grade. Probably lasting another 10 /15 mins. After another 2 heats and we then have an interval. I looked at the watch, it was 9-15 and we have had only 10 races. The Royal Box was now half empty, same with the Car park. It was that cold people were leaving early to get warm... But the progress was that slow. By the time I got to the Car at the end it was 10 o clock. Some will say I'm always moaning, but do these meetings need to be so drawn out, Do we need a track grade after ht 8 and then an interval 2 races later. Why not have the track grade and interval together after heat 8. In the end the terrific performance by the riders was overshadowed by the long meeting and the freezing conditions. -

This date was fixed in the original fixture schedule, but it was down as a league meeting. When the original KO cup match was cancelled, this date/fixture was then changed enabling it to be the 2nd leg of the KO cup. The league fixture that was pencilled in for this date has yet to be announced . -

What a petty statement that is , Do you really think you have to pay admission before you are entitled to an opinion ?? How sad !! As much as I respect the work you do for the supporter club, sometimes you talk such utter rubbish. It takes less time to make an announcement than it took you to write this post. When there is unrest with the fans , someone in the know could put their minds at rest with one small message. We don't need to know every last detail, but we deserve to know the real situation, instead of the rumours that were flying around.. As for acting like the poles, this is a two way thing, Over there, they are appreciated, they are kept in the picture, and are not ripped off. Probably if we were treated similar then probably we would act the same way. Fans, Customers, Mugs, that's the feelings I have on the way us speedway supporters have been treated through the years. I haven't fallen out of love with the sport, my love for speedway racing is still as strong as its ever been. Going to Norwich as a youngster was encapsulating and felt like you belong to something special. When speedway started at Saddlebow Road that feeling was the same, It is only in recent years has that original perception has changed. I went through a period when I felt more like a customer than a fan because of the way the fans were being treated. Now I feel more like a Mug, being taken for a ride. Probably that's the reason so many have stop going nowadays... No, it is not the sport I've fallen out of love with , its the Kings Lynn Club that has lost my support, for the way they distance themselves from us, thinking we don't have an opinion nor the right to question the way we are being treated.... I go to Speedway now for my own enjoyment, to see close exciting racing. Win or lose, it doesn't bother me. It was the club, that has taken that membership away... -

g13webb replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Your one way vision doesn't surprise anyone. Had this been an ordinary meeting with a full team, the lineup would have been announced as usually on a Monday. But this was a different situation, with many Stars supporters not knowing the full extent of the rumours about missing riders . They deserved to know the extent of the compromise, who and how many were going to be missing. This is not a big job and could have been completed in only a few minutes by their Twitter account, the Web-site might have taken a few minutes longer. The truth being they couldn't be arsed. I cant imagine one person would agree with their attitude towards the fans . (except you that is) We are not asking for the world , merely to be kept informed. We have the basis of a solid team and the promotions should be promoting their brilliance, instead of wallowing about missing riders.. . We have 4 riders who are going terrifically well and they will provide the foundation of a good season. I still don't think this cup match is lost yet, I just wish the promoters would treat their fans with more respect.... -

That's the reason why there was no team announcement before 3pm a day before the event. I think the Stars Promoters and Marketing people have missed a massive trick here. By saying nothing they make the fans have bad feeling towards the club with the contempt of it all. Whereas if they had come out at the start and blamed the FRN and the unavailability of certain riders , They could have turned a negative situation into a positive one by showing people we have been hard done by and therefore having to race our weaken team against the odds. Although all effort is being made to find a replacement, because of the now FRN they are few an far between. We would have been the underdogs attempting to overcome a 6 pts 1st leg defeat. Facts that could have been used to promote the meeting, but instead you do nothing. I thought this new chap Brundle was better than this..... -

Just heard through the social media, each team has agree to co-op their Managers/ Promoter into the team to save on costs... Simon Stead will be riding at No1 for Leicester, and Buster has agreed to do likewise for the Stars. It was either this or NL 3 pointer.... -
Belle Vue v Swindon 14/5/18 BT Sport
g13webb replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As always , I thoroughly enjoyed the racing from the NSS. it served up a wonderful example of what speedway should be. Fast & furious, with lots of close exciting racing... One has to feel sorry for Belle Vue losing Worrall so early in the season, I am in no doubt he would make 8/10 pts most meetings, so to win by 10 against the reining champs was impressive. Although it was to be expected, one has to be disappointed with the crowd. Racing on a Monday, Live on the tele, and coinciding with the Man City celebration, was always going to be difficult to attract the fans. My only hope is that when people see recording of this thrilling meeting it will stir them to go along to the NSS and see the sport served up there. Young Bewley sure gave Rosco a headache . Should he be selected for GB in the forth coming World Pairs completion? Personally I think it is too early.. If the competition was only at NSS, then probably be OK , but with the final in Poland, I'd go with Woffy, Cook and Lambert.... -

From that comment , you are obviously in the 'Privilege few' that have been informed of the teams. It just illustrates the attitude of the club, that is infuriating the real fans by being kept in the dark. I am not particularly bothered who it is , but being kept informed is the important part Unless we are told of the team before the match , there is no way I will pay to watch speedway without knowing who I will be watching... I thought this Brundle chap was suppose to be take the club on a new direction, pointing out the Club and Fans being of one vision. This sure contradicts a of that statement .... -

Had the Promotors came out last week and announced the situation of the forth coming KO match with Leicester, I would have said , fair dues, No, I wouldn't have liked missing out on seeing the proper riders, but at least we would have known the situation the club was in. But here we are, 48 hrs to go and not a word. all they have said is there will be hot laps on Wednesday. If the truth be known , they are afraid to tell the fans the truth thinking some will not bother going, Even if they don't have all the information yet, we should be told what is going on..... The club said they had learnt from last years problems, I'm yet to see that.... -

g13webb replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The one thing that really annoys me more than anything else is being treated like mushrooms. Who gives a T---s about hot laps when we are not told the important information. We are still waiting to hear that our team has been compromised. People not on social media, are still of the impression we are competing with Leicester in the 2nd leg of the KO Cup and assuming both teams will be as per normal. If the club can't treat their customers with more respect, and keep them in the picture then they don't deserve any fans.... I don't blame the club for the situation of fixture clashes created by the FRN , but i do blame them for the secretive attitude they show towards their fans -

The BSPA has always been 'I'm alright Jack' society . 'For the good of the sport' has always been secondary. Governed by personal preferences, all votes are tailored to suit ones own agenda. This is just another illustration of the need for an independent governing body. I am in no doubt that it could easily be achieved and financed, but as always, the biggest problem would be getting the BSPA to agree to it... Its must be very difficult for the BSPA to get any decision right when they constantly bury their heads. -
King's Lynn vs Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg 16-05-2018
g13webb replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For all the adverse comments directed at Matt Ford, he is no mug and sees most situations before the majority of other Promoters do. I was not surprised that he only saw Kildemand as a short term replacement , and as since terminated that connection. Once the BSPA decided to run our FRN on a Wednesday, some Promoters would have realised the implication of that decision and not signed any Danish riders. (Thought ) Probably this answers the question why Matt Ford let Hans Andersen go. Looking at the teams now, you will find those managers with their finger on the pulse did not picked any Danish riders. Its seems Kings Lynn and Leicester didn't think along the same lines... -

To save on the costs of the hotel we once booked a hotel 3 miles out of town. What a joke that was, we then paid £45 to get a taxi into town. 4 trip @ £45 = £180 just on taxi fares, Sure was false economy. -
To me our top 3 riders are so obvious, Woffy, Cook and Lambert are way better than anyone else. The trouble UK have is they are light years behind some of the other countries...

I have still not seen any official news for this meeting yet. Surely all arrangements would be in place by now so hoping the Website is updated shortly -
Nobody likes to see this sort of thing, especially as the social media can be both judge and jury when it is called upon. Having met and spoken to both of these riders, I was of the opinion both were genuine, decent grounded fellows, just shows how wrong ones impression can be. Not wanting to judge either before knowing the full fact, I can see issues and responsibility errors on both sides. I feel it is such a pity that the whole world is now on the case. The costing of speedway equipment is phenomenal, so understand riders selling it on, but laws are in place to protect both parties form wrong doing. Speedway is the wrong place to carry personal vendettas and for this reason it has to be sorted quickly...
