Leicester V Somerset 03.09.18
g13webb replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Are both team at full strength? Haven't read much news on this match. Rebels have more to race for, but the Lions surely want to finish the fixtures with a decent showing. Cant see anything else then an away win. But who know how Leicester will perform...…. -
When Wolves choose to run with Thorsell rather than Lindgren I always believed they would struggle , especially on away tracks, and so it has turned out to be. . At the start of the Season Rory was on fire and compensated for Freddie missing, The one thing that has kept them in contention is their ability to win at home. A track that is extremely difficult to master has helped them to maintain their home supremacy. Tonight will be no different. This is probably one of the hardest places to go and get a result, but I feel confident that the Stars have enough strength in depth to cause them problems , especially with Wolves using 2 guests. If we can stay in contention till the later stages, then we will be in with a shout. A win, would be beyond expectations, but a solitary point would be the icing on the cake. I'm going for a close and exciting match with a last heat decider. 46-44 either way.... Wish I was going now!!!

I'm not saying it was right to play that fixture, merely pointing out we were running out of available dates on the calender to reschedule it. Yes we could have used Tuesdays and Thursdays, but then again, like you we would have had riders missing. This ridiculous fixture schedule was created because the BSPA weren't strong enough to enforce them FIM guidelines... Just another example of the tail wagging the dog

Poole v Wolves. Prem B. 5/9/18
g13webb replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bearing in mind this result is not important, and the so-called Poole's plan to reduce their averages, I can only see an easy win for WOLVES, lets say 35 -55.. -
I'm not blaming Buster at all, I believe the fixture situation has been created by the lack of forethought on behalf of the whole BSPA. It was always going to be a rush to get the matches in, same as last year. But as always they don't learn.... I'm not a doom and gloom merchant, far from it, more of a realist . In my mind we need 7 pts from them remaining 4 matches to top the league, That's 6 from the DH against Leicester, leaving just 1 needed from the Wolves clash. Anything else will be a bonus.... If we were racing these matches on a normal schedule, the results would be as expected, but racing them on consecutive nights is a totally different proposition. The odds are stacked against us going through 4 matches without any problems. All you need is a couple of blown bikes or a bad fall and then we are in the hands of the gods... Riding 4 matches in 3 days is a big ask...……….For everyone...
-
Maybe he should... But only a fool would agree to dates that would mean riding without your full team of riders. but please don't let reality get in the way of responsibility... When Matt Ford instigated having Wednesdays as one of the fixed race night, he knew the 2nd divisions teams would consolidate his suggestion that allowed Poole to retain their normal race night. What a pity he didn't think more about the sport, rather than his own personal situation. As soon as the FRN were assigned to Mondays and Wednesdays, it was a decision that meant the days when the Danes rode in our league were numbered. Signing 3 Danish riders, Kings Lynn were always going to suffer the consequences of these clashing dates. coupled to that the 6 cancelled meetings, that we have suffered, plus the Rye House withdrawal, you understand the inevitable problems with the fixtures...
-
In 8 weeks of June and July we rode in only 3 matches, we had 3 cancellations, ( Leicester(H), Somerset(A), and Rye House(H)) in what was to be the best summer for some years. Now the team is expected to ride 4 meetings in 3 nights as the consequence of these stupid FRN's .. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket !! its ridiculous to expect this from the riders or machines. Like Bagpuss has mentioned, just hope everyone come through unharmed from this terrific schedule, and we achieve the honour we will so rightly deserve. I sit here and wonder what is the thought pattern of those who instigated these FRN, will they be thinking all's well that ends well, or will they be thinking what a bloody mess this has been!! or will they be thinking they couldn't give adamn... But nothing can hide the fact, that this fixture schedule is a complete and utter shambles …….

Kings Lynn v Poole Wednesday August 29th

I think he's a confidence rider. and is a lot better than some on here imagine. I was disappointed when he left the Stars, he had progressed well in the short time he was here. . Having his brother for a fellow competitor is a marvellous motivation to them both. There are many riders who don't perform at certain tracks and clubs, but that doesn't tell the true story . I thought he done well at Lynn the other night and was equal top scorer with Bomber. Says a lot about the rest.. I would imagine there would be many clubs who would like the chance to sign Richie. -

But teams need a strong leader. A strong No.1 is far more beneficial than having a strong No 3, 4 or 5 . Brady wont be able to inflict the damage at 4 like he could at 1 -

As much as I like to watch Bomber, I don't see him as a No 1 anymore. Years ago he was up there with the rest, but as years go by, so has his consistency. Still able to pull the rabbit out of the bag occasionally, but when he is in those big heats, he cannot be relied upon to bring the bacon home.. I don't see Bomber at No 1 as a positive. Poole didn't bring Bomber in as a leader. All it will do is give Middlo more permutations to move Brady to a less pressurised position. -

There's not a chance in 'L' of Lynn picking Poole in the Semi final of the PO. It would be the last choice not the first.... Confucius said ' You can always find an excuse when you are looking for one' Most top riders race in several countries every week. It is the life that they choose. and Brady is no different than many other top riders. The reason he performed badly last night , had nothing to do with his schedule, merely his state of mind. He is a far better rider than the one we saw last night….. -
Kings Lynn v Poole Wednesday August 29th

The only thing that mattered last night was that the Stars won. The grippy track was prepared as expected. I have no doubts the Pirates came with all good intentions, but when they found themselves trailing early on, their enthusiasm soon disappeared. I enjoyed the experience, if only from the point that it will shut those loud mouth fans up, that we are forever hearing. We except sometimes these scores happen and they are not a true reflection of the teams strength, but all we have heard form certain Poole supporters is about the how much better they are because they thrashed us early on. Last night really levelled up them arguments.,, But saying that , the Stars really did ride will. Onwards and upwards we continue...……….. -
Somerset vs Wolves 29/08/18
g13webb replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I expected an home win but thought Wolves would put up a better show than that. I noticed the Rebels used 3 guests that scored half their pints ( just about) and that Rory rides only brought in a few. Sometimes things just fall into place,. Wolves, just like Poole, were last night in the wrong place at the wrong time... -

It appears to be the last resort.. but this will go ahead with a few riders missing.. Strange that, because that was the reason, why those previous dates were all dismissed. -
Kings Lynn v Poole Wednesday August 29th
g13webb replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think, its Buster who holds all the keys to the outcome of this meeting. Last weeks DH enabled the 2 meetings to run with different tracks. The first was very grippy and times were fast. The racing was processional and spaced out. The second was a lot slicker, where the times were slower, but provided better racing. The Lynn riders adapted well to the conditions and reaped the rewards, whereas Wolves struggled in the first match, but were much more at home with the second. The result of tonight's meeting is the main concern, but if we can lay some sort of marker down, all well and good. I would suggest tonight will be very grippy giving us fast times, and favours those who can attack the conditions. But rest assured, tonight preparation will have little bearing on any conditions, should we meet Poole again in the PO. -
Erik Riss has been like a breath of fresh air. Am amazed no one had collared him before we did. He has all the attributes to become a top rider in any division. Sharp from the gate, smooth on the track and very fast with in front. From the back he battled well and never gives up He has become an integral part of the team. I'm in no doubt other teams will be envious of a brilliant acquisition...

Not underestimating anybody. I'm well aware all teams have a chance , and its all down to how you go on the night. After waiting so long, probably more than most , we have never been better placed than we are now. But feet firmly on the ground. -
Kings Lynn v Poole Wednesday August 29th
g13webb replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I cant see Poole having first choice. Both Lynn and Somerset have matches in hand, I will be most surprise if both don't finish ahead of Poole. For them to be in with a chance their match at Lynn tomorrow is a must win, else they will be 3 points behind with just Wolves to play at home. Even if they win at Lynn it still wouldn't guarantee 1st place , so no doubt Matt Ford has already resigned himself to the selection of others.... The ball is firmly in Kings Lynn court now, especially with matches in hand and the riders all peaking at the right time. After so many years, It will be only fitting if we can finish top of the pile and have that first choice. Me, Assuming the other teams are BV and Somerset, my thinking would be to leave Poole alone. Have never liked the Dorset track, it makes it too much of a lottery. From my experience the bad tracks outnumbers the good many times. The other teams in the Play-off all have decent tracks that can be raced on. The NSS is the pinnacle of track design, always giving both teams a chance, so for that reason, my choice would be Belle Vue... Also, from my memory, Somerset go reasonably well at Poole and could quite possibly beat them, Giving us a final of 2 teams that have never won the top league before. This could be a momentous finale of a troubled season for our sport. -

You've got that right, But it was against Buster's ideas to retain a Wednesday FRN. He took it for granted that Thursday would be voted in, he was flabbergasted when certain clubs voted for it. I just hope the offending promoters realise the problems it created , so rectifying it next year.... Am not too confident of that... -
Well done to the Stars on a fine win. Indeed it was terrible watching such a processional exercise. Gate and go at its best..... As Stars supporters, we have to be pleased with the form our team is showing at the business end of the season... Was I the only one who heard Dale say ' now we have arranged a fixture with Somerset we will be riding 3days on the trot next week.' If so that makes it Wolves(A) on Mon; Somerset (A) Tues; and Leicester (H) on Wednesday, leaving 'just Leicester (H) to do on the 10th. It appears we are going to get all the fixtures in, weather permitting..

Dan Bewley has been a breath of fresh air, everywhere he has ridden. Such a welcome talent who can compete with the best. I feel so sorry to hear of this bad accident and wish him a speedy recovery, also, Belle Vue for the sad loss from their team in their quest to reach those PO's I too, think that BV should have the facility to replace a serious injured rider, but because this rule was abused in the past, (by a couple of teams who faked up, make-believe injuries to bring in GP riders) , there is now, no replacements allowed.
