Burnt out ?? he's a kid for christ-sake, with all the energy in the world. Had he been in his 40's then probably so. I am in no doubt it was just one of those nights and nothing to worry about. Come next week he'll be back to normal flying round the track, leaving everyone in his wake... No Worries !!!

Nobody is being disrespectful to the other team members, they all have a place to fill and a job to do. My comment about the importance of Robert's score was made illustrating when he has an off night, any team would miss his contribution, and last night we suffered from his low score, more than the ones from Jorgensen and Simon Lambert. We have a strong team and could easily cover when someone has an off night, but when we had 3 rides scoring low, that included Robert , we were always going to struggle.. That not being disrespectful to anybody...….

Dale is normally on the case and don't usually miss opportunities to strengthen his hand. With MPT going so well and some of the others struggling, I too had pencilled in changes that didn't happen. Which leads me to believe MPT had problems with himself or his machinery that restricted him from further rides. But no doubt the truth will come out.... I was some-what disappointed to finish up losing by 6 after leading with 3 to go. but still feel confident of progressing through to the final. Lamberts scores are so important for Lynn, and this showed last night. Cant remember the last time him have 5 rides and not winning a race. Jorgensen and Simon were also off the pace, but then again I suppose everybody has an off night... sometimes.... I had thought this 1st leg was winnable, but hats off to the Robins who fought back brilliantly..... It sure makes the second leg more interesting....

My sentiment exactly. Have always regarded Belle Vue as my second choice......and neither of those clubs has had much success of late. In regards to my previous post you commented on, I am of no illusion what is right and wrong regarding track preparation, and would always choose a neutral track for fast and competitive racing, over one that generates G&G philosophy . BUT and a big but, after we have waited 50 odd years to win that illusive trophy, if we can gain any advantage from having a grippy track, then I for one will accept that with open arms... No, it might not provide terrific telly, it may put people off, but we have to grab every advantage we can. Please don't expect me to apologise for them views. I'm sure if most people were to speak the truth, they would feel the same way.....

That must be the worse SGP I've seen for sometime. When our sport is struggling to promote its existence, why ever was it conceived to have a top meeting here. The track was an absolute disgrace that did nothing to enhance the sport at all. A one line, gate and go exercise, kills off more supporters than other reason. It was a complete and utter joke. The organisers only saviour has to be the most inept and bias Referee, ever to grace these occasions. it takes me back to 1984, when USA v UK at Foxhall, Eglese, an out spoken ref , stopped the race on the third lap, after Lee had taken the lead, and excluded him, because he had delayed the start. It was a complete joke of a decision, that showed everybody how much Eglese personally disliked Lee. Last nights decision to exclude Woffy was of the same standard. It was premeditated and executed, totally to give those Polish riders the added insensitive, knowing Woffy couldn't make the semis now. I'm amazed that everyone accepted the exclusion without questioning it, even though, the Ref had fabricated a rule that doesn't exist... The 2 min ruling is given to the riders so they present themselves ready to race. Once at the start area, they become the responsibility of the (SM) Start Marshall . He doesn't have a clock to get the riders ready, he gives them time to prepare their space, then calls them to the line. When they are ready he holds his arms up and walks away, thus reliving his duty and handing the responsibility back to the ref to release the tapes. Sometimes the SM allows the riders too much time , sometimes they are super efficient and the races start quicker, but I have never seen a Referee exclude a rider when he is under the control of the SM . If we are to believe the decision last night, and riders have to be ready at the line when the 2min elapse, then the clock has to be where the SM can see it, and be written in the rules so riders and fans are aware of this expectation.. No this evil referee concocted a rule, that was for the sole benefits of the Polish riders who are trying to catch up with Woffy. When something like this happens, it enhances the public perception that this sport is all but dead…..

No Niels don't go a lot on grippy tracks, but usually by the time we get to heats 13 and 15 the track has slickened off, thus allowing Robert and Niels to do their bit Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that Lambert would reign supreme as he has this year. He has been majestic in the way he shepherds other riders round, including Niels. It makes no difference to Robert what the tracks are like, he just rides them all the same.

I'm all for that !!. AS a speedway fan, I have always valued Belle Vue as a exceptional club. Nobody was more pleased than I when you moved from that horrible track at Kirkmanshulme (?) Lane, into that wonderful place you have now . The NSS is a credit to everyone involved in the sport, a showpiece that others should be compared with. With the exception of NSS, I believe our track at Saddlebow Road, is comparable with any other in the country. When prepared right, the racing can be from the top drawer. Every rider has expressed his liking to race here and therefore our home advantage diminishes. In a sport governed by fast machinery, close racing is not always achievable. when it is , yes it is a sight to behold... Watching heat 13 from NSS on Wed night, it was a truly monumental race, probably equal to any I have seen, but had you have asked a Rebels supporter, would they have preferred a processional 5-1 in their favour, I'm sure the answer would have been yes. I have always placed Belle Vue on a pedestal , ever since they took on the BSPA to abolish rider control, in their determination to sign Ivan Mauger. I have envied them for doing things right. They are an example for all clubs. If Lynn cant achieve an honour then my second wish has always been Belle Vue.. So please forgive me this one instance when, I say we have to do everything possible to win this coveted title. If that means preparing a grippy track, then so be it.....

I don't have a problem with that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. 54 years I have watch the Stars and have seen some brilliant racing, but this time its all about winning that trophy. Cheers! Its not about confidence in our team, its about competing on a level playing field, do until others as they do to you. Win by attrition . Nobody loves speedway more than I , and if my opinions differ to yours then I'm sorry, but I've waited too long to miss another golden opportunity . We haven't had that many.....

Back in the days of Briggs, Ashby and Kilby I was always in awe of the Swindon Robins and relished our trips there, with never a hope of getting a result. Remembering the time we travelled with a strong team of Betts, Simmo, Cole and Crump but we still got beat. How time has changed. For the first time for many years we can travel and be confident we have the strength to compete with most teams. Swindon, although started the season well, has struggled of late , and now this being the only chance of a trophy will be giving their all to take a few point advantage back to Lynn for the second leg. Providing we have a full side, I feel we can go reasonably well and keep the damage to a minimum. I will be surprised if the gap is more than a few points Will go for 47 - 43 either way... that close.....

But what is more important, brilliant races and losing, or grippier track and winning. That's a big question. I have witness many years when our track was of no home advantage and the opposition loved to race here. Yes, we have seen some wonderful races, but have won only a handful of trophies, never the big one. Now we have the opportunity to write our name in the history books, and to me any help from the track preparation would be most welcome. You may depend that the Rebels and Poole will have their track to suit them . I feel for Belle Vue because every rider loves the track and the home advantage is minimal, if they were to change it, then it would be a handicap to BV as well.. The only fact that is important is the score. You wont read in the books that the Lynn meeting was fantastic all you well see is the result... So if we have to witness 15 G & G races to win, then so be it. We can prepare the track to entertain next year

Not at all, when the track is super grippy, all the riders have equal traction, therefore producing them gate and go races... When the track is slicker and riders have to search for the dirt , it makes for more exciting racing.. There are some riders who really relish these grippy tracks. they have the ability to hunt and pounce even in the most tightest of situations, but they are few and far between. The difference between a grippy and slick track can be as much as 3 seconds faster.

There were many reasons why last night's crowd was questionable, Kids back to school, Increased costs of a double header, A more important match on the Television, and a result that was to all concerned a foregone conclusion, and also the fact, that all the riders must have been truly knackered , couldn't have inspired much confidence of an exciting meetings. I'm one of those 'Día-hard' fans who always goes and last night was as enjoyable as ever. Yes, the scores was onesided, Yes, the grippy track produced some fast races, most of which were gate and go, but scattered throughout the program were some edge of the seat moments that stirs even the most conservative minds.. All of the Star riders came to the party. Robert again showed everyone he is now the top man in the league. either winning by a distance, or from the back, it made little difference , he was immense. TJ, MPT, Erik and Simon Lambert all performed well . Even guest Adam Ellis joined in the party making sure that Lynn didn't miss the injured Ty Proctor. The only person to struggle was Niels, but he joined in later when the track became more to his liking... We were assured of topping the league, once we had witnessed Fricke winning heat 13 on our phone during the interval, making the second match a dead rubber. But the riders still went out and did the business. The way Hans reacted after winning heat 15 in that second match was testament of what it meant to him. He raced in 13 races on the night and been passed many times, to actually beat Niels and Robert at last meant so much to him..... To top the league for the first time in the clubs history was just reward for the effect and form the Stars have shown this years. Now to the Play-Offs'

As much as I want Lynn to win I fear most matches will be governed by doctored track to assist the home teams. With the exception of NSS, I believe all the other tracks will be prepared generating gate and go speedway, that we all dislike. Although it is obvious why this practice is used, it does nothing to generate excitement like it use to be. The majority of the Stars riders cope well with a grippy track, but season professionals like Niels and Andersen seem to struggle. it wasn't until much later, when the track became slicker, did they join in the party. I just hope it don't ruin the occasion....

Somerset v Kings Lynn Tuesday September 4th
g13webb replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Somerset won't be fooled by this drubbing. it will have no relevance in the play-off. This was a one off, when so many of the Stars riders didn't perform. Starting without 2 of our heatleaders, it was always going to be difficult . Added to that Jorgensen, Simon Lambert, and Riss all had off nights and even our talisman could only muster 1win in this torrid performance. Hopefully, all was not lost, at least the riders experienced first hand, the one line track preparation, Rest assured when or if they meet in the PO it will be a far different affair then it was last night. I wasn't expecting any points or favours from this meeting, I thought it would be a comfortable home win. Yes the gap was much wider then I imagined , but in the end I don't think it mattered as long as we live to fight another day... Well done the REBELS , you done all that was asked of you.... -

The idea of bringing in Klindt for this match, was to give all you Poole posters the excuse to take over this thread.. -

Interesting meeting this. Following the Rebels Mondays defeat at Leicester, this match could determine the league winners. All the Stars need is to draw this match to be assured of top spot. But this is a big ask. Riding without Niels is a big factor, he usually goes well here, and Proctor pulling out last night could be a problem... Missing 2 heatleaders will be tough. No doubt the Stars will battle hard to continue their run, but the odds are stacked against them. I believe these two teams will meet again, when the result will be much more important than it is tonight.. We should use this opportunity as an insight to what lies ahead. Most important is we come through this meeting with all the riders unscarred. -
In all honesty, when you came to our place recently, you were by far the weakest team we had raced against this year. Only half the team were good enough and the rest were way off the pace.... I said at the time how surprising it was to see them that weak. Their home form has been their saviour this year, but even then, the results have been much closer than they used to be. . It didn't surprise that we won tonight, I always thought it would be close, but the way Wolves folded, must have disappointed even the most ardent supporters.....

I expected it to be tight , but well pleased...

A wet tricky track and inexperience riders
