  1. Is that called expected business practices ? or could that be seen as ripping the fans off ????
  2. I appreciate your comment, but the thread was requesting the BEST RACE you have witness. Having been a supporters for many years, I too could fill a book with ALL the brilliant races I had seen, so you have to be focused and pick one from the many, that Darcy rode in...
  3. What a ridiculous comment, As good as Darcy was, I saw him have a few shockers. I thought the title of this thread was quite explicit. It asked for the best race, that poster's had witnessed . I was hoping to read people account of a great race they remembered, but all we seem to be getting is anything else but. Having seen all the great riders and witness some truly wonderful races, I had to recount and remember one that was special. It wasn't difficult, just took some application, What a pity others can't do the same..
  4. Always been a fan of Bomber who usually goes really well at the AFA. I wasn't surprised of his success last Monday, and in fact I called it 2 laps earlier. I felt sorry for Doyle, who was desperate in need of support from the few team mates he had left...
  5. No body beats Robert at Kings Lynn. Of all the happenings of this year in speedway, it is the form of Lambert that has been truly surprising. He has progressed from a talent youngster into a world class riders. His attitude and behaviour has been a credit to him and the club. Leading by example, he is now a true number 1 rider . And they're not many of them about....
  6. No, I may be wrong, but I can never remember Ivan Mauger riding anywhere but No1. He was the man everyone tried to emulate. A masterful competitor that took professionalism to a new level...
  7. Once upon a time when speedway was a straight forward sport, No.1 was the top rider, Riders 2nd and 3rd in the averages were the other heat leaders in position 3 and 5. Riders in 4th and 5th in the averages were classed as second strings and rode in team positions 2 and 4. leaving the lowest average rides at reserve position 6 and 7. Now apart from riders No1 and 6 and 7 in the averages, all the rest can be placed in what order you wish. That's all very well giving the team manager the option to determine the rider positions, but in doing so it alters the difficult in those certain races, falsifying the averages to a certain degree. My ole mam use to say, ' if its not broken why fix it' but it seems the BSPA has never heard of that philosophy.
  8. I don't get all this concern of previous results, they are of no consequence at all. The teams now are totally different to when those matches were played and bear little of no reference at all. Its all about what they do now on the night, and how they perform when the chips are down... I see the Stars being well up for it and if the recent united spirit is anything to go by, we are more than capable of running the 1st leg close. I have no concern about Iversen who will more than do his bit. Niels has had a lot of bike issues this year. No doubt he will be have a good steed when it matters.. With Robert and Niels leading the way , we are ready to do something we have never done before. I'm amazed at all the negative thoughts of the so-called Stars fans saying Poole this and Poole that, as if they're been programmed to accept defeat. Poole are not that special. They are not a patch of the Poole teams of the past, yet this Lynn side is the best we have had for many a year.... If we cant win it now, we will never have a better chance. Lets get behind the team and show them how much it means. and get off that bloody fence,.....
  9. Holder would have had 6 rides on a track he knows so well. Had you asked fans to bet on who would have scored the most out of those two last night, only the die hard ones would choose Kurtz..... Don't forget Kurtz hasn't set the world alight this year and has recently lost his No1 spot to an ageing Bomber Harris.. All hypothetical I know, but Holder was a major lost to Somerset..
  10. I don't dispute the gate and go races that exist at the AFA, but I wont except it is bumpy, with the exception of the NSS I haven't seen a smoother track than that at Lynn. Every meeting takes a few heats to get settled in and Lynn is no different, but I never saw riders struggling to turn or bouncing all over the place Yes it is too grippy and races are processional, but so are most tracks in the UK and that is down to the old design and shape of the tracks and modern bikes they use... .. Like it has been said, with the correct shale and better preparation Lynn could be a tremendous race track...
  11. Fair do's , The rules changes so frequently I'm not always up to scratch with them...
  12. I don't get that bit at all. Here at Lynn, the track is big, smooth, fast with wide spaces for ample overtaking. the only issues relates to the shale that is used and the preparation of the track. Most clubs in the UK would be over the moon to have a raceway that was as good as the one at Lynn. When most riders are asked, they say AFA is one of their favourite places to ride.... so it cant be a awful track, just that it produces processional races.... Probably needs a few bumps and holes putting in it...
  13. I thought the ref was weak. you don't have to fall off for the Ref to put on the red light. It was clear there was a coming together between Dolye and Woryna , and the Ref could have seen this as an unsatisfactory start and ordered a rerun straight away. Doyle obviously thought he was penalised and laid his bike down. Because of the Ref actions she makes out Dolye was the guilty party when in fact infact it was the Ref herself….. Terrible decision...
  14. The accident caused by Kurtz on Holder was the defining moment of this 2nd leg . When you go into a meeting already using RR , you cannot afford another rider to go missing. especially ne who would have taken an extra ride through that RR. Losing Holder was far greater lost for Somerset than Kurtz was for Poole. To be honest they struggled to beat a one man team. Fair dues to Bomber for a brilliant heat 15 win, but fortunes shone on Poole...
  15. Forgive me, I may have got this wrong, but my impression of the rules says a team needs to have 2 riders out before they are allowed a guest facility , except when its your No 1 rider. so in that case Poole will have to use R/R for Kurtz. Be interesting to see what develops. I wouldn't put it past Poole to pull all the tricks in the book to gain an advantage. Posters are going on about previous meetings between Poole and Lynn this year, but they have no relevance to the pay off final. We go there with a clean sheet and are more than capable of putting on a decent showing to keep the contest alive for the second leg. All our riders, management and fans know what to expect and will all be up for it. We are the strongest team in the league with everyone capable of winning races I believe we can restrict them to a small lead that will be more than attainable in the second leg... This is the final I wanted...… Poole struggled last night to beat a one man team, Come on Stars fans we can do this This is our time......
  16. As I predicted, this was an comfortable victory, achieved with an out of sorts evening from Niels. Still feel there was plenty in reserve had it been necessary. Robert was as majestic as ever, ably backed by a solid team. Belle Vue were poor and offered little resistants' only their guests coming to the party. The outcome of this semi-final was all but decided last week. The actual racing was poor with most results sorted by the back straight. I feel sorry for Buster as I thought the smooth track had been prepared pretty neutral and fair to both teams. The biggest problem these days are the bikes, they are far to fast to offer any chance from behind. Only the top riders like Lambert are prepared to take the chance. The meeting itself was enjoyed. A decent crowd saw the races flowing as it should, this was down to no small part of the problems at Poole that allowed Lynn to run without any hold-ups.. Cant help feeling sorry for Somerset for losing out as they did, but when the gods are against you, you can never win. Personally I wanted the Stars to meet Poole in the final and am pleased we have this opportunity to win our first championship against the league biggest rivals.. . When listening to others, I feel I'm in the minority when I say we are capable of beating them and feel quietly confident of putting our name on the trophy for the first time... All we need is a fair rub of the green in the first leg and we will be set up for a sensational final victory.... This is our time ! ! !
  17. I cant believe the Stars will go in to this being anything else but dialled in. They know the importance of a good start and to apply more pressure on BV than there is already. Bringing in Musielak is an astute guest and without doubt make them stronger this time round, but don't lets under estimate how good the Stars can be at home. I see this being a hard fought match with Belle Vue trying but unable to claw their back in the tie. Most of our riders are capable of winning races I can see Robert leading them to victory by heat 13..... (Think that could be the heart ruling the brain), but winning is all that matters.... Cant wait for the fun to start..... Am I right in assuming the other semi-final can to shown on the big screen at AFA ??
  18. Am I right in thinking that tonight there will be big screens at both tracks enabling fans at Poole and KL to witness the other meeting.?? Although I appreciate the technology and the organisation, and the attraction of both meetings simultaneously on the telly, personally, I would have preferred for Lynn to run the meeting as normal and watch a recording of the other one when we got back home... I don't see the logic of why they need to be run at the same time. When you look at the costings and the organisation of having 2 meetings on together, who benefit of this expense. ?? Surely 2 separate meetings would be more widely watched than one showing one race then the other... From previous experiences, the fans that fork out and support their team, they are the ones that are kept waiting about while the cameras go to the other venue. Most of the fans are only interested in is their own team and how they are doing, If they wanted to see the other match then they would be best to stay at home and watch... No I'm not impressed with the idea at all …..
  19. I don't think Allitt did himself any favours by his actions last Monday, or by the comments he made in the SS afterwards when referring to the incident. Its all very well for a team Manager to show passion to his riders, but doing it that way was more like a football hooligan . Someone of his position, should be more calculating, and in control of every situation. He should be setting an example to his riders, not jumping in at the first instance and behaving like an idiot.... No, I don't think he done himself or the club any favours at all.....
  20. Such a shame that a historic stadium like the Abbey couldn't have gone out on a high. I wouldn't have taken much to arrange a fitting finale to attract a decent crowd giving them a night to enjoy and remember. Guests, Fireworks, charity races, could have been added at little cost . By the sounds of it, the Ref and track manager made a real pigs ear of it....
  21. That was never in doubt. The big points he scored at Belle Vue are not counted in his CMA. With all our riders, in the main body of the team, having a CMA above 6, it would need more impressive scoring from MPT to swap places with one of them this late in the season. Having him as reserve is one of the reasons why the Stars has figured strongly in the later part of the season.... Long may it continue....
  22. Have faith, I believe we are more than capable of doing the business, whoever we meet in the final.... I'm sure Dale Allitt , sorry Dale Ali. will get the riders dialled in and ride like their lives depend on it.... This year is OUR time...….
  23. I cant help thinking this was all Holder's doing.. Having ridden at Poole a few days earlier scoring a Max, not only did he want to show Matt Ford what he was missing, but also wanted to help them out as well. Yeah, the track was rubbish that day, but all the other riders stuck to their task and rode it, so it wasn't that bad... Holder made out it was unsafe but nobody got injured. Batch, having won his first race and was team riding a 5-1 in his second, when he slid off, no doubt supporting Holder's ideas. For both of them to walk away was unforgivable and they deserved all the problems that followed.. I'm still of the impression, had we been riding against any other team then Poole, it wouldn't have happened.....
  24. Have to agree with you there,. It's unfortunate when riders get injured and changes have to be made, but in the past we have not always replaced adequately when these incidents occur. We have had more than our share of injuries in previous years but never once use it as an opportunity to strengthen the team. Even at the early season, fans could see the improvement with the set-up of the team with the implementation of structural changes and the fitness rescheme, but we were still missing that cutting edge... What has changed Lynn into title contenders was the acquisition of Erik Riss. This has been, the pivotable piece of the team jigsaw. Like someone else said on this forum, that has to be the best replacement in the league this year....
  25. Good point. That's something I've not thought about. Not wanting to rubbish Kerr, he performed well at reserve but notably found points harder to score when elevated into the team 1-5. Whereas, Riss has settled in real well and finds the AFA to his liking. A quality gater, this talented long tracker, with a fast and smooth style, is the ideal partner for Robert Lambert. between them they are a powerful pairing. Not only that, his acquisition meant we also had a permanent strong reserve in MPT. Had Kerr remained fit, I would imagine he and MPT would have swapped their places on a regular basis, and that wouldn't have been ideal. as it is now we have a settled team each riding with the same partner every week.... So in answer to your question, Probably not..... Them good ole days of Betts; Simmo; Cole and Lee, still burn in my memories . Sure was wonderful times …...
