Your not missing anything, there's more crap then anything else. Better getting your work done...
-
At least this year you should be in with a shout......
-
Good team assembled next year. Expectations should be high and hopefully the supporters will appreciate it with big numbers..... To me, Belle Vue represents massive history in his sport, and languishing at the bottom of the table does nobody any favours.
-
I don't think you'll get much better than that. Team made up from: 3 Danes, 3 young British riders, and an Aussie. or 3 world class riders supporting 4 youngsters who will be learning their trade from the masters. Either way you look at it , it should be exciting to watch.
-
I too, wouldn't put Doyle at No.1 by choice, but if he had to be then I wouldn't be too worried. He's more than able to do a good job. As been said already teams need a strong 1 to 4 , and we have the chance to have 3 good heat leaders plus a good second string with the option of Lambert when he's old enough. With the 2 reserves we have, that sure looks the right way to go.
-
Its so annoying and frustrating, that the track and facilities are there to be used, but that a City as big as Peterborough can't supply enough support to encourage a new promoter to take a chance.
-
That could be a brilliant acquisition. I'd always rated him higher then most people do. Pure class.
-
I'm sure Poole swap Doyle to get Janowski from Swindon. And as Swindon already had their team assembled, he was loaned to Birmingham. But I agree a top rider to have in any team..... But can't see Swindon agreeing with that...
-
Obviously pleased with the outcome of Kerr and Rose, and wonder how it was achieved, bearing in mind, only four riders were protected. and none from the second group. My theory, based on the twitter notes, is that Lynn were able to choose their second rider as long as the combined rating was 20 or less. Top rider , bottom rider, Don't know, Purely a guess... but well pleased......... Now we put Lambert in the 1 to 5 with 4 top riders , and we could be cooking on GAS.....

Elite League Draft Riders
g13webb replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I believe they make the rules up as they go along. This whole scenario takes away all the positives that teams like Lynn do for the sport and distributes all their good work between other teams who quite frankly have done nothing. This is a classic. Now the RESERVE riders are going to race for a year in the EL and not get a an average. How bizarre is that. What will happen next year? Will they be able to be reserves again in 2015, 2016 and 2017 ? , All these issues are being created by the implementation of a doctored heats and weakened opposition. There are only a handful of class riders in our league and to change league structure on the pretence of protecting inexperienced riders is beyond belief. Talk about a can of worms!!!!! -
Elite League Draft Riders

Are you getting mixed up with the words, Allocated and Selected. two totally different meanings. I've read on the forum that the teams are Selecting their choice of rider in a said order, Now you say the riders are being allocated. ?????? Can't have it both ways...... -
Elite League Draft Riders

What a load of rubbish. Never have I read such complicated crap in my life as this, and you wonder why the sport is in permanent decline. The clubs who have helped these young riders into the sport, should be given preference, and not governed by what positioned they finished in last years bias, league format. Surely these riders should have some input into where they want to ride, hasn't anybody thought about that?? There's been some ridiculous ideas from the BSPA in the past but this one takes the biscuit. -
Elite League Draft Riders
g13webb replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think the inception of British Riders into the reserves of the top league is a wonderful idea, and should benefit the home born riders. All the problems being posted are related to how it is going to be implemented. We have heard these riders called 'NL Riders' , 'Young British Riders', Riders with little Elite Experience', and to me , this is where all the problems lay. I believe this idea of a British rider, cannot be age related, it should be open to all riders who want to go down that route. Rather than have someone delegating where these dominated riders ride or what grade they are, Why not concentrate on the guidelines and restraints of these positions, so each rider can choose which route he wants to take. Once everybody are made aware of these rules, Both the promoters and riders can then negotiate together, of what they want to do. Why complicate a wonderful idea by putting additional problems in the way -
Bbc Sports Personality Of The Year
g13webb replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Years back when Carl Fogerty was World Superbike Champion, a sport that was covered on the BBC, He was invited to the awards, He went, thinking he was going to win, but never even got a mention. Probably, Instead of calling the award the SPOTY, they should call it : IYFFA, ' If your Face Fits Award', then everyone will know who has a chance or not. Sorry Woffy, you were never in the frame. Even if you had won every SGP race, broken every bone in your body, Raised £ 5 million for charity, you still wouldn't have been considered. Trouble is: is that because of the sorry state of our sport, or rather the sorry state of the BBC.... Who knows.... -
Every team in the league would want PK to ride for them. For sheer excitement he is a must. I would pay good money to watch him ride on this own.

In the context of the discussion, Mads was being compared to KB with the point difference. I'm no KB lover but respect what he can achieve. Without doubt he is a seasoned GP rider and would always fit into everybody's worlds top 20 riders. The fact that he average is low is totally down to injury , but that works in his favour. When he and Niels rode for the stars in 2011, they both tried to outperform the other, and it worked very well. Yeah, he messed up in the play-offs, but it should be remembered hadn't it had been for KB we wouldn't have made them in the first place... I like Porsing and believe he will make big strides this year. If I had the choice between him and Auty, then as a team promoter, I would pick Porsing every time. But then again that is purely my opinion and in no way would I run Auty down.
-
I think that would be an awesome team, capable of winning any match home or away. If you want a good team man then MADS is your man, But if you're looking at points scoring, Mads doesn't come close to KB. I think you're getting Mads mixed up with Niels. Mads is good , but never score the points he ought too.........
-
Not a bad team, but I have to question the inclusion of Olly Allen. I personally think, you're going back to 2011 when he performed reasonably well, when riding regularly with Mads. But since then he hasn't done too much to impress anyone. I know injuries don't help but that's part of the game...But, I'm sure we can do better then him.

British Speedway Promoters Meeting
g13webb replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I live in a neighbouring town from Kings Lynn, about 10 mile away. and you see nothing in regards to advertising speedway or reports of meetings. There could be loads of people interested and not even know there is a meeting on.... Plain Crazy....... -
British Speedway Promoters Meeting
g13webb replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'm all for that. I think the BSPA should lay down the guidelines of the reserves and then leave it to the Promoters and Riders to sort out. Having people to delegate who and where they ride just complicates the whole scenario. I am of the same feelings as you. I believe the British League cannot afford these top riders. Hancock getting £5K a meeting is plain ridiculous. That money, could have been spent far more useful then that. In a way that benefited the sport and the youngsters. -

Not at all. The sport in this country is in dire straits. The only financial source available is what come through the turnstiles. In a ideal world it would be wonderful to throw money at these youngster in the hope they will make it, but that's not the case. So nobody is taking any liberties, nor living in cloud cuckoo land, its called the real world and we all have to live in it. -
British Speedway Promoters Meeting

Comparing British speedway with that of Poland, is like comparing chalk with cheese. The two scenarios are worlds apart. Over here clubs are private enterprise and are the responsibility of the Owner/Promoter. Over there they are a corporate entity and governed by Council and Towns. Sponsorship is included into the cost of the facilities that Corporate companies provide like Electric, Gas, Power, Dust carts etc. British sports are a world apart from them and it is wrong to use them as a yard stick. As for the costs for the reserves, this is a difficult one. I believe the club should help the rider, but the rider shouldn't be in a situation where every cost is covered without having to perform well. On the face of it, a guarantee of £120 /meeting seems adequate. On a good night a reserve could earn £3-400 a night, multiply that by 4 and he's on a good earner. If the rider don't perform as he should, he's no good for the club or himself. -
Lynn are usually one of the first to announce their team so am expecting news of the Supporter meeting to be posted soon.

John Louis was always the proper gentleman. Such a nice guy. First meet him when buying my first CZ from Dave Bicker's shop in Ipswich. John worked there as the shop Manager. John's first love was scrambling,( similar to Bickers) and competed in all the Eastern area events with a lot of success. Believe I'm right in saying his allegiants changed, when speedway first started at Foxhall Road. He was then in his late twenties. So he actually missed the most productive years of his life competing in another sport. Just imagine what he could have achieved had he started speedway at 16 . The mind boggles. But he will still be remembered as one of Britain's GREAT riders....

I must say what ' Pandorum' has said is pretty much an accurate picture of this sport. 'Vince' in his attempt to defend the acquisations has even highlighted it more so. But nobody can argue the shambles and the terrible decisions made, have taken this sport to the brink of extinction. .
