Surely, it can't be too difficult to replace riders like Barker and Kennett. They are giving nothing to the club, and any replacement has to be better than them.... You want riders with HEART and PASSION who are prepared to try.
-
As much as it pleases me the stars won, it does the sport no good to see such one sided affairs. I feel for the Brum fans who deserve better than this . With performances from Barker and Kennett it should be too hard to find riders who are prepared to fight for the cause. Neither of them deserves to ride for any club.....
-
Amazing. Not having seen the track before today, Robert Lambert is now showing other seasoned British riders how it's done. Something wrong somewhere.........
-
Kennett is the embarrassment

That's wonderful, first you're saying it's unfair for Lynn to have such strong draft rides, Because I agree with the fact Lynn have a good team this year, now it's my attitude that stinks. Brilliant..... Nobody cares more about speedway then I do, I am all for the good of the sport. The importance of winning is wasted on me, and I've no time for those who put it first. The way that some of the teams have won the league recently has been a joke. When that happens, they get no congratulations from me. and I treat them with the contempt they deserve. Like I said, we have a good team this year with a chance of success. Come August and we are not in the frame for the play-offs, I would much rather persevere with the same team we have, than Buster go out and buy whoever just to be a winner. We start as a team and finish with the team. That's more important than winning...... For you to refer to me as selfish is as far from the truth as possible.
-
Like I said in post No 90 I believe all the problem have to lay at the BSPA door. I understand the idea of a draft system, but long term it can never work for the reasons you outlined above. Firstly we need all the league teams to be working together, that's all the clubs from all three leagues. Forget the draft system, but implement a progression through the leagues system. eg, Each Elite team must field a British PL rider at 6 and a British NL rider at 7; Each PL must run British NL rider at 7.. There would be no need for a new League format and all CMA would have been representative of the riders ability. There would be a continuality for both teams and riders, without losing the original concept we had.

I think we are all getting carried away here, and thread now reeks of jealousy of the standing of the Lynn Stars. The Elite league this year, 2014, Is not just about Draft riders, it is about survival. Draft riders were included to bring down the cost of promoting this sport. We as a club have been running a second team purely to give the young , new riders the opportunity to progress. This principal was to benefit Kings Lynn in the future when these riders improve to Elite status. The idea of all this was because the Stars were thinking of the future and for the good of the sport. During this time Buster could have spent his money differently and wasted it, on top riders just to buy success that will evidently kills off the opposition and the sport. Nobody likes a 'Money' club . But Buster has done it right. Now you are saying, because the league are incorporating draft riders into each team, Buster has to lose the riders he has nourished over the years because other teams didn't think it was important. Talk about Sour grape. I except Lynn are now in a fortunate position this year and have assembled a team capable of winning. So good luck to them, they have done it the right way. The crowds are coming back, the excitement of watching these young riders, the environment it creates, everything about it feels right. Instead of pillaring the club and the fairness of the Draft system, aim your discontentment towards the BSPA and about the way they run our sport. How can clubs/people plan ahead when no-one knows what is happening next year. The 3 leagues cannot even work together on a draft system. Isn't it about time we had a structure in place for all the leagues to have a united front and promote the sport forward, when thinking ahead was of paramount importance. Everyone would then know what the future held..
-
I have always been against the theory of 'Money Rules' and strict guide lines needs to be in place to keep the costs in check. The Asset system in operation is flawed with problems and does nothing to enhance the sport only to feather peoples deep pockets...... I have great respect for Buster and feel most of his ideas are for the benefit of the sport. Sure, he is a businessman and wants to run a successful operation so spending big money on owning stars riders has to be questioned. The obvious answer is to bring on youngsters in the hope they will progress. Not only does this enhance the British standing in the sport but it also benefits Kings Lynn in the long run. The situation that Lynn finds themselves in this year, has not been given to Buster, it is something the club has worked hard for, for some time and are now seeing the fruits of their labour. We now have four talented youngster all capable of winning races in the Elite League. When decisions were made about the team strength, Buster and Rob could have gone down the same road as others and brought in decent 2nd strings, but decided to gamble with the young ones and used the points limit wisely. Niels and Kenneth both expressed wishes to ride for Lynn. They enjoy riding for a good club, racing on a decent track, performing to a appreciative crowd, and getting the rewards at the end. If that is more affordable on a loan basis, then what is the point of big purchase. People will say we are lucky that Buster owns the track, but this wasn't given to him and was only achieved through sheer hard work. So instead of people moaning about Lynn Stars, they should look at the whole picture and of what Buster has achieved. If more promoters were like him, the sport would be on much firmer footings.

I enjoy EVERY meeting, even those we lose...... The smell, the noise, the excitement, the people. Winning is just the icing on the cake......

The reasons we were beaten at Wolves wasn't because the reserves, they actually out scored the counterparts. I feel after 4 meeting our reserves have performed exceptionally well and exceeded everything expected of them. Tonight's match was never going to be easy, especially when a team has the quality of riders like Zagar and Nicholls, both of whom ride Lynn very well. I thought the BV top 5 done well, but no way were they better. By his very high standard, Niels had an off-night, missing the gate every time, but he always battles well. Rory, again was subdued, but showed in his last race what he can do when inflicting Zagar's only defeat. Porsing was impressive and scored well, and again Lambert caught the eye. But to beat a team like BV, conclusively, when not firing on all cylinders, shows what strength we have.... It wasn't the best race meeting. Started off with a lot of FTG. After 8 heats the scores where level, but then we stepped up a gear with passes from the back to claim 3, 5-1's after which point we were able too home. Another good crowd, Pity we were made to wait for the stragglers to arrive though.

Cheers TS .... -
Have no doubt about us winning tonight, just the extent of the scores. Belle Vue are far stronger this year and should make a better contest. No way will they figure in the lower regions and can see them challenging for play-off places. But I believe , we at Lynn this year have the makings of a real top side that are good league prospects. So looking at them in that light, we should be too strong for BV. With Zagar, Cook, Nicholls and Worrall in there side there should be some exciting scraps. Cant wait till to-night.......

Chris Bomber Harris Performances
g13webb replied to ghostie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If the captain goes public about his feeling of the track, it creates a negative attitude towards it. Bomber should have keep his feelings to himself and talk direct to the Promoter / Trackman about the track not use it as an excuse. Some of our riders said after the meeting the track was poor, but they talking about the inconsistency of it . -
Chris Bomber Harris Performances
g13webb replied to ghostie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Watching him at Brandon last week, you couldn't fault him commitment and the way he fought. I didn't go along with publically mouthing off about the track. That sez your attitude is looking for excuses. I can't believe he is still having problems with set up of his bikes, Chris has been doing it now so long it should be second nature. Speedway has change to what it used to be and more riders are getting dialled in. Racing from the back is getting harder. Bombers biggest problem is his gating. When he consistently misses the gate it's always going to be hard to score big points. But he is always entertaining to watch. He'll never be World Champion, but he's still plenty good enough for the Elite League. -

Yeah I understand mate and appreciate the difficult of the Ref in getting it right all the time. It's just so annoying when these things happen, at such an important time that it has a massive effect on the meeting. From sitting in ,what I thought was a comfortable position, after 7 heats, 4 races later, we have our backs to the wall struggling to be in contention after the Ref had ruled on 3 of those races. While Niels was fuming at the decision, the most annoying aspect of the whole incident was seeing Proctor getting back to be pit area with a smile on his face, giving the impression that he really happy. Not the impression of someone who had just been taken out hit the track and was annoyed. I found that strange........ -

I ask the question, what was the reason Niels was excluded. Was it because he didn't leave Proctor any room, or did he cut Proctor up and fenced him, or was it because Proctor bailed out, knowing he couldn't get round. I having problems understanding the logic of all this . Niels missed the start, but cut back to the inside to pass Proctor along the back straight. Clearly in second place when entering the 3rd bend, Niels attempts the wide line coming out of the 4th bend to get a run on Pawlinski. Are we now saying he must leave enough room , just in case the person behind wants to race there, or are we saying the person in front doesn't have the choice of lines. Proctor was the person who was behind at this stage, and could have eased up and took any line he choose. Rightly or wrongly he choose to try and do the outside pass, something that no-one else did all night, and that was pass on the outside. Proctor choose wrong but it was Niels who was penalised. Had the boot been on the other foot, and Niels and Proctor were in opposite positions, Niels would have seen the dangers and eased up. there would be no case to answer. As it happens Proctor choose wrong and got away with it because of the lenient referee . I agree with you about Rory, very disappointing performance, and as you say he was the main reason the Stars lost. Hard to stomach when the captain don't perform as he can. I also agree putting Kerr in Ht 14. We were only 5 points behind then and Kerr gating could have been the difference from winning and losing. having score 7 from this only 3 rides he was the obvious choice that somehow got missed. Obviously pleased to get a point, but looking back, we won't get a better chance of winning at Wolves then we had last night. Will look upon it as a golden opportunity lost. -

You must be related to the Ref, coming out with a statement like that. That was a ridiculous decision to exclude Niels. He was livid, and said afterwards, there was no contact what's so ever. Proctor came off himself. He choose his line, he put himself in that position, he bailed out. None could that be attributed to NKI. and to exclude him from his easiest ride was a joke. I went to Monmore Green thinking we had a chance of points. All was going well until the ref decided to come to the fore, and did his best to ruin what was turning into a close and exciting match. First he allows Ht 8 to continue when all could see Proctor got a flyer from uneven start. Next heat 9, was a slow motion shambles. Even the riders didn't know what was going on and virtually stopped before the red light came on, .A restart with all 4 back was the fair and obvious answer. But no the ref had to impose himself. and then Heat 11. Such a shame really, what should have been a close match will be remembered for the wrong reasons. Yeah we got a point for our troubles, but I would have much rather have lost to the happening on the track rather then some petty person making stupid decisions. Wolves were there to be beaten tonight, and we missed the chance. When Woffy get fit again, and Pawlinski gets dialled in, Proctor gets back after injury, Wolves will be a much stronger team and will be in contention for the play-offs. I wasn't aware till last night, there were several Stars riders who don't like the Wolves track, so bearing that in mind they performed very well. Special mention to Lambert , who is prepared to mix it with who-ever. But with Rory not performing it took what ever advantage we had from a sub-performance from Woffy away. Wolves will be more pleased with the points won . After seven heats there were a lot of doubt's creeping in. Must say, I thought the track tonight was as good as I had seen it and the racing was always exciting, In the end we got a well deserved point, that not even a crap ref could take away. -

Just to let it be known, my son and I have travelled to Wolves each time we have played there since returning to the Elite League. But like has been said we are very much in the minority. Remember once when we applauded a ref decision in Lynn's favour and 1000's of eyes peered at us as if we were the enemy. -

If we can take a point from this match I'll be more than satisfied. The team Lynn have this year is capable of giving every team a match, home or away. Historically, we don't do well on tight track such as Lakeside and Eastbourne. Wolves has a strange track, with long straight and sharp corners, so yes it is tight but it is also fast. I wouldn't put this in the same category as the fore mentioned two but it does offer a massive advantage to those who ride there regularly. Obviously a win would be nice, but I would happily take a point now........ -

All this talk about a slick track and a dust bowl are well over the top. Some people you cannot satisfy. I have been to Brandon when the track has been dire, but because you win there was no complaining, Had you had won Friday night there would have been no complaints. There was overtaking in 10 of the 15 heats on Friday, proving it was racable. I've always thought the Stars perform better on a grippy track, Who knows, the slick track might have been to your advantage The reason you lost on Friday wasn't down to the track, it was because of the system on how the Elite league is run.. You had Anderson riding when not fit, you had replacement for Howarth and Garrity was suffering. You were served well by Fisher, Bomber, Hanson and Garrity and Vissing didn't let you down. Rather than going on about the track, probably it would be better to get behind your team who will get better as the season goes on. Losing 1 home match is not the end of the world. The racing the other night was exciting and above average, and if that was an example of speedway at Brandon, then I, for one would be more than happy.... -

Wolves has never been a good hunting ground for the Stars, in the past we have always suffered badly. We have taken some good pastings, but this year it may well be different. Wolves is a technical track that need special skills to master it. Out top 3 all go well here and therefore should give a good account of themselves. Although the rest have ridden here, any success we get, will depend on the youngsters getting to grips with the tight corners. I have previously travelled here to enjoy the occasions rather then expect a result. But this year we go with hope that we should be able to come away with at least a point. Like at Brandon, certain things have fell in our favour. Woffy is riding with injury and Proctor not firing on all cylinders. Pawlinski goes well but I still believe Freddie was the better of the two. So we travel to Wolves on Monday with hopes of scoring a point at least, but more would be even better........ -
Coventry Bees V Kings Lynn Stars 11/04/2014
g13webb replied to Woz01's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They say you can always find an excuse when looking for one. Tonight, I thought the Kings Lynn Stars were the better team on the night and deserved their win. Having seen some questionable tracks here in the past, this wasn't that bad. It was there to be ridden, and those who choose to race it received the credits. There were plenty of overtaking, I been here in the past when there was none. Niels had to work for all his wins as he never made the gate all night. His best one was heat 15, but even then he had to ride hard to see off Fisher and Bomber coming out the second corner. Before the meeting, I said this was the right time to race Coventry. They having not ridden at home, Anderson under the weather, Howarth not riding, and Garrity riding with an injury. The signs were there to take advantage of an early win. and we were able to exploit that situation. Coventry will be better than they were tonight, but they had several riders who battled well. I didn't agree with Bomber mouthing off about the track, but he rode as Bomber does, and scored well. He will never be the rider he was, as shown when Niels dive past with relevant ease. But I feel now, Bomber is a one trick pony who likes nothing more then riding the boards and tonight that wasn't possible. Very Impressed with the Stars, who battled for every point. Rose was in contention in all of his races before using a wrong line to finish at the back each time. Kenneth suffered a blown engine and struggled from then on, but both will come good. The rest was just brilliant. Niels showed why he's No.3 in the world, and Rory led from the front. It was enjoyable seeing him in the pits geeing riders up and motivating each when the meeting was nearing the end (Good choice making him Captain), But the young riders have to take the most credit. Lambert with his first Elite win, soundly beating a charging Fisher, Porsing making them gates when it mattered and Kerr was in the mix all night. I've been here many times before and lost, but tonight, we came we saw and we conquered, and we went home very happy. -

I don't know if you are referring to me, but I live my life being optimistic. Far better then looking at negatives and being subdued all the time. Yes I appreciate we have some young riders, but they are all good talented racers. Coventry also have young draft riders who are in the same boat. We go away tonight with a good chance of success. No I'm not getting carried away, just looking forward to another good meeting and hope at the end of the day, we have a good trip, a brilliant night, and no accidents. To win some points will be the icing on the cake. Hoping the weather stays kind....... -
Elite League Draft Riders
g13webb replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What I feel is strange, in our two draft riders, Kerr is the better then Rose, but the gap is not that big. I believe as the season progresses we will see Rose become a more accomplished rider and get even closer to Lewis Kerr. After all he's only been riding a year. Am I right in thinking that the draft riders averages stays the same throughout the year regardless of how they perform this year and that any replacements are governed by their old original CMA. Cos my concern is , If Kerr gets injured, he can be replaced by any other rider in the draft because Kerr was ranked No'1. However, if Rose gets injured, and because he is ranked at the bottom we will only have a handful of riders to choice from. Am I thinking that right....... -
Swindon - Belle Vue 10th April
g13webb replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Congratulation to Swindon on a big win, but Belle Vue ought to be a lot better then this. They no doubt wanted to start the campaign with a good showing, but It appears that everything that could go wrong did. Some meetings are like that . It seems we are getting a strange start to the season. I thought BV would test Swindon this year....
