  1. Having witnessed both instances there was nothing similar about them at all. . In the Iversen/Proctor clash, Niels had taken Proctor, and had his eyes set on Pawlicki, Niels takes the inside line into turn 3, with Proctor behind. Coming out of turn 4, Niels go out wide to find more grip, chasing the leader. It is unfortunate Proctor came to grief, he came off in a slow gradual decent, having choose to lay it down, but it was his choice. Niels wasn't aware of where Proctor was, and there was never any contact. Kenneth never had no choice... Last night was completely different. On entering their third lap, Doyle and Kenneth were neck and neck, both having had their head in front at times. As they approach the 1st bend. Doyle on the inside, knew Kenneth was on the favoured outside run, so instead of taking the/his normal run into the corner, Doyle pushes Kenneth wide, leaving him no where to go. Kenneth shuts off, catches the dirt and is thrown onto the track, not the fence, head and shoulder first. It looked ominous from the start seeing the body bounce. I'm not saying that Doyle should've been excluded, to me it was hard riding. Unfortunate for Kenneth, but seeing some of the accidents at speedway, this has become the norm. It annoyed me at the time when Niels was excluded, that wasn't his doing, it still does, but that the problem we get when Referees sees thing differently. Last night I thought the Ref got it right...... News about Kenneth.. See - http://speedwaygp.com/news/article/3282/bjerres-collarbone-blow
  2. You seem to have major issue with Kings Lynn and their FTR. Am I right, your not a lover of this new Draft System?????
  3. This was never gong to be a runaway win. With Leicester's top 5 having a liking for the fairest track in the league. and so it turned out to be. Most impressed with old boys Mads and Stead, who both score well and achieved creditable victories. Doyle always goes well here, sez he like this track to any other in this country, I can see why. Pity about the Bjerre incident though. All our top 3 battled well and will score more points on another day. NKI first race was sublime, so smooth, so fast, so far ahead. apparently the fastest time seen for 5 years. Our second strings also battled well, but failed to win a race between them. They were always in the mix and worked hard for their points. Now for the FTR. Tonight they were the difference between winning and losing and both rode exceptionally well. I believe they were only beaten once all night. But with people on here saying it's unfair, I suggest they take stock of the situation rather then pillar Lynn or the system. Lewis Kerr was rated at the top of the Draft list and was a Lynn asset . For obvious reasons He and Lynn wanted to keep him here. Rose on the other hand was 20th on the list, a new rider that nobody wanted. so in keeping with the draft ideas we acquired our 2 riders from either end of the list. I have seen many good Draft riders so far this year, some far better then ours, but the biggest difference is that team Lewis are both exceptional gaters. This attribute, gives tremendous advantage in most races, and at Lynn, this is enough to put them in a forceful position. So these poster, don't be-cry their efforts, or persecute them for getting better, Lynn and team Lewis are doing well but it's work in progress, progress that's been on going for some time now.......
  4. Everyone is missing the point here. The rules are set each year for all the teams in the Elite League. and to my knowledge all nine teams do their best to comply. It has become an excepted practice that Poole can do as they wish. When the FTR was first introduced, it was said these riders were to have ridden in the NL last year and not have a EL average. But Poole were allowed to have Kyle Newman which contradicted both arguments. When a squad system was suggested, it was thrown out, It was argued it would be better to have shared No 1 rider, but that too was discarded. But Poole are above all these rules, and are allowed to do whatever they want. Does it matter that they will employ the FTR on a Rider for courses basis. We all knew they would, and nothing has been done to stop them. I suggest at the next management meeting that Poole be awarded a 10 pt start, No, make that a 20pt start bonus at each meeting to enable them to always win, so then there will be no reason for them to break any more rules...
  5. Terrific meeting to watch and well done to the Panthers on their victory. Must feel sorry for Newcastle, everything possible went wrong, the score would have been much closer without all the mishaps. Cant imagine they would have won, but a point would have been some reward for the fighting display they showed. Lewis Kerr was such a let down. Four times he made the gate and each time his bike packed up within a lap. Surely someone could have let him a bike, but to persevere with that machine last night was wrong.... You can always sort out problems another day, not when the paying public is expecting more from you than just a lap each time...... Can't imagine Buster and Rob Lyon being too pleased if that happens again tonight....
  6. I wonder what tricks will be used so Poole can use another reserve for this one.
  7. To me any meeting is a good meeting. This one, should come under the heading of FGC: "Fore Gone Conclusion." Looking forward to Mads giving 200%. Lets hope so..........
  8. I said age was catching up on me, Yes, I stand corrected, it was Pat Boone, and also yes I was getting mixed up with Island in the Sun.... Both big songs from the past...... Cheers......
  9. I must be getting old, having lived through all the best musically periods, i.e. 60's 70's and 80's I can't believe the importance that being put to the music played at a speedway meetings. I always looked upon that as background noise used to create an ambience of excitement, and nobody took that much notice. Sure, we don't want silence but does it matter what era the music came from as long as it was loud and rowdy.... When I go to a speedway meeting, I can tell you who was ridings, I can remember riders scores, I can remember all the overtaking and bad decisions, I can remember the people I meet, I remember how many drinks I had, I remember where I parked the car, But if you asked to name one song play on the night, I wouldn't have a clue. Back in the 50's when I first went to speedway at Norwich, the tune 'Love letter in the sand' by Harry Belafonte was always being played every week and I always associated the song with the then Stars Speedway. Probably it was the only record they had..... . That was way before we had any technology ..
  10. I don't know what race you're talking about, but the race you described wasn't from last night. I was referring to the race, similar to the one Bagpuss was updating for the web site, where he came from 4th to 1st passing those in front at 3 separate occasions Why do people do that.?????........
  11. Having followed the Stars for many years, when it comes to guessing the outcome or meetings, I am still a novice. Looking through the results of the season so far and understanding the potential of the 2014 stars team, I thought last night would be a formality to attain the 3 points on offer. I couldn’t have been more wrong had I tried. Wolves showed they can produce the good’s when it mattered and caused the Stars a lot of problems. Regularly gating first, Wolves soon established a 4pt lead with most of the team scoring points. In the first 8 heats we only gated first in one of them. Usually ht 9, is good for us, but last night we again were second best to Worrall and Morris and the gap increased to 6pts. It was at this stage I thought we were going to drop a point or two. Our backs were up against the wall. We weren’t firing on all cylinder and the Wolves were doing good. We gradually clawed our way back into contention thanks to Kenneth and Niels, and got our noses back in front after ht 13. But if that was to stick we needed at least a drawn heat in the next, enabling the top riders to seal victory in the last. It didn’t look too good for the Stars as both Lewis and Robert hadn’t imposed themselves too well, up to then. But cometh the hour, cometh the man. As expected from previous races, the Wolves pair gated, with Lambert at the rear. As the race grow, so does his stature. Past Lewis into third, Wells is looking round. He gives up sheparding Worrall, and goes for the flag. Lamberts fly out wide to dismiss Worrall and sets his sights on Wells. He’s getting closer and closer, going out wider looking for that extra grip. The crowd are all on the feet cheering an unbelievable race. Coming out of the 4th bend on lap 3 Lambert hits the front to win a truly brilliant race. Showing such petulance to an international rider from someone so young is a memory I will keep for a long time. This race was worth the admission alone. Niels and Kenneth duly completed victory in ht 15 to claim the 3 points, but one has to feel sympathy for the Wolves riders and Fans. They battled right to the end and went away with nothing. A meeting, thought to be relatively easy, turned into one you’re not likely to forget. It’s hard to realise that only 3 weeks ago Lambert was only a 15 yr old BOY. Tonight he became a MAN……. Another brilliant night of speedway…..
  12. Never said they were beaten, just remarked they were beatable.
  13. Your doing it again, Not reading what was written, and jumping to conclusion. I said DIRECTIONS should be known of the path, the sport is going to take, in regards to this new DRAFT system. You mentioned the sport is governed by riders averages and scores, yet you are quite satisfied on the erratic value of how these averages are attained. All I have ever asked for is, what's going to become of averages in relation to this draft system. I 've been told the draft riders will not have a average this year but nothing has been said about the varying degrees of difficulty in relation to easier races, in respect of 2nd strings and Heat-leaders and future replacements I pointed these issues out back in November of last year, but now into the new season and still we have no answers.
  14. Having recently retired, I'm now becoming a professional sports watcher. Never realise how much choice one has or the amount of time taken to watching the many sports I enjoy. The wife has a quick moan, and assumes I take no notice because of my poor hearing. But there nothing wrong with my eyesight and cant wait for another dose of Castrol R. tonight. Have always been satisfied with a close match with exciting racing, but after a lively start to this campaign I now want us to keep winning. Never have too much of a good thing..........
  15. When I suggested last week that Wolves were beatable, I was cried down. Was even told, I was putting too much pressure on the young riders with my expectations. Last nights match just proved what you can achieve if you go for it. Thoroughly enjoyed an entertaining meeting where the fortunes favoured one way then the other. I think the draw was the correct result, and proved to one and all that Belle Vue need to be taken seriously this year. Nice to see, Manchester has something to cheer about after all the recent happenings. Never been a lover of the Monmore track, and thought there were too many falls last night. Pleased to see Proctor up after what looked a painful crash... I have always said riders don't have to be world class to put on exciting racing, and last night the draft riders showed this point conclusively.
  16. I think the form of Woffy and Pawlicki are paramount to Wolves, and depending on their form rests the changes of success or failure. Although a decent team the rest are beatable. Having seen both teams this year it is true to say they are very similar. Both top heavy with one good second string and one decent Draft. This could go either way, but 20 points from Wolves top 2 should swing a home win......
  17. I reckon the rules and formats will be the death of this sport. The ever-changing ideas form one year to the next does nothing but segregate clubs and fans until there at each other throats and all we have left is arguments on what is right and wrong. All ambition and aim for the future have gone. Such is their belief that people don't really care any more what happens. The draft idea, whether rightly or wrong implemented, will be blamed for all the problems the sport is having this year. Already it has been blamed for Birmingham's poor showing, and will be associated with everything that goes wrong. Christ, I even heard 'tracks are not prepared correct for these draft riders', and 'of caused we lost the draft riders were not used to the tracks'. The list will go on.... I like the idea of having new, young, blood into the sport. I don't necessary go along the lines of draft system, because it could never be done 100% fair. There have been teams planning for the future, like the Lynn Stars and Coventry's, and it is these teams that have benefitted with having the cream of draft choices. This is not wrong for those teams, and it would have been detrimental to the riders to have done it any other way. Our sport will never prosper, because the 'powers at B' deem it not necessary to plan ahead. We are but a few weeks into this new season and not one person knows of the format or direction that will be used next year. That fact is outrageous. How are we going to attract new Fans, new Sponsors, or new clubs when the future is shouldered in mystery This year all teams are split into 3 groups, each have a different chance of achieving a creditable CMA. What happens when the groups score inter swine with each other. Such lack of forethought has gone onto the system. What happens next year? All the riders who don't ride in the Elite 2014 will be have higher CMA's than those that does ride. Who will want them and their high scores? What will happen to the top 'Draft Riders' on ridiculous high scores, Will they be classed as Heat leaders.??? This post was not meant as a moan, purely highlighting the problems that exist with draft riders in our sport. Why can't the rules be streamlined and set in stone for the future, so every team, sponsor, and supporter will have the same ideas enabling the sport to move forward and prosper in the years ahead......
  18. Even if Wolves were all fit and riding to expectations, I think they would still struggle too contain the lively Stars. I think our early form will continue, but the final score will depend a lot on Woffy's fitness but I will be more than happy with any win of over 7 pts.....
  19. When there is plenty of money in the kitty, to assembly a decent team is relevantly an easy task. Something most of us could do. To do it with little finance is a different proposition all together. This is where the expertise come in. I know of Graham Drury, but not personally, but believe he had the right ideas of running a decent and an effective club. Now that he has left, there has to be big questions on the survival of Perry Barr. As an outsiders view of Birmingham Speedway, the most important aspect of team moral is missing. You have riders going through the motions but care little for the club or the fans, and this will only result in losing what support you do have. This has to change. How I see it, you need 2 new persons immediately. ONE, a new team Manager. Someone the riders know and respect. He must encourage and generate a togetherness of the team and produce an attitude to contest the matches instead of what was on show the other night. TWO, you need a new No1 rider. You have some decent riders in the side that will do a good job, but you need someone to take the lead and show by example. This new riding format is now harder than before, this makes it so important to have that top rider to get results in these hard races. I'm sure with a little bit of help and encouragement, Birmingham Brummies' can recapture the form of last year. The last thing anybody wants to see a club fold. That would be catastrophic, but watching a total collapse of a team when contesting in any sport doesn't do anybody any favours.....
  20. I know history will point you that observation, but when the chips are down Kenneth will come to the line and do his bit, don't worry... We start as a team, and finish as one. Like you say, we are going well and probably be favourites right now, but you watch, Ford find loophole in the rules and bring in Tom , Dick or Harry on a ridiculous score and say it's in the best interest of the sport.......
  21. Rob Lyon wouldn't have swapped them unless there was an adequate reason. Rob not for changing for the sake of it and looks at the bigger picture. He could've swapped them against Wolves in Ht 14 but didn't when others thought he would / could. So for him to actually change them over, there had to be a valid reason that wasn't related to the match score....
  22. What makes this so annoying, Kennett and Barker are performing really well in the Premier league. Eddie at Rye House is averaging 9half points a meeting, is in current 4th Place in the riders list ( SS 19/04/14). Ben, not far behind at 8 half. If these two can do this riding for other clubs, Questions need to be asked and answered as to their form in the Elite level. There can be no place in a team for riders with their attitude.. I'm sure there are plenty of replacements that would jump at the chance if given the opportunity. Ok they wouldn't be past internationals, but I bet they would put a lot more effort in, then those two.......
