Poole Pirates Vs Coventry Bees 21/5/2014
g13webb replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I heard it said that Darcy replied to the question of his leg surgery, he would only have it done once winning the World Champs was out of the question. Does this mean, he feels he's in with a shout, or is he just helping Poole out before going for his operation ?? -

Any assumptions I may have of you are governed by the picture you portray. Such a pity you have to resort to sarcasm to make you feel good. -

When you read people comments, you take on board, how it was said, why it was said , the attitude of the person, and the mannerism of the person he portrays. When you have all those things, it gives you a picture of that person. The picture I have of Semion, he is somebody who doesn't believe the Stars are good enough to win, He isn't bothered whether we win or lose as long as the racing is exciting, and it was for those reasons I got the impression that Semion doesn't rate our chances in the league this year by the things he has said. Now if my assumption is wrong, then Semion should look what impression he is giving out to people. I am sure he is in no doubt, of how I feel.... That's better. your getting there. Don't worry about the play-offs, If we win the league our confidence will be sky-high and able to take on the world...... -

No worries, . He's an important member of the team. Best he rests and gets back to full fitness and hope for a speedy recovery. There 2 more meetings next week........ In my book, your wording of ' Less than impressive' is similar to ' POOR' and have same meaning. You getting into a 2 and 8 over that example is ridiculous. The difference between you and me is I always have a good night at the speedway, regardless of the score or the racing. Just being in that environment does it for me. The people I speak with, The people I see. Even when travelling to away tracks , getting hammered, the Ref was rubbish, and pouring down with rain, I still have good night. I listen and read many things and I'm of the impression, that there are more speedway fans out there, who think we will win the league, more then there is from our own supporters..... Strange that........ -

The point I'm trying to make is to get behind our team and support them. Cause we all want exciting racing and that is usually witnessed at home because the fairness of Saddlebow Road. You say our home form has been poor, but on the contrary, we have won each of those matches. You are forgetting to give them other teams credit for the way they have performed. In all of our matches at home, there is always at least one home rider who was not performing as he would have liked, but still we won. Just imagine the scores, had all the riders performed 100% each time.. We have talked about visiting fans coming to Lynn and creating a good atmosphere with their vocal support, This year we have the makings of a really memorable season. If we cant have more faith and give a lot vocal encouragement , then we never will... -

This honest opinion will always have some form of bias, whether you appreciate it or not. Is it a safeguard in case we lose, or it could be the thought of not wanting to be too confident, or is it just being afraid to stand up to what you would like, all of these things put some bias to any honest opinions. Does that matter? our team knows the NA better than anyone. WE know every team that comes here have a chance, and Poole are no different. But we are better then that, we can beat them, we have belief in that we are that good. We don't need track advantage to be successful. Look back to Monday at Lakeside. we didn't have track advantage there. We've taken points from every meeting this years and still we have the doubters...... -

Most of the fun is in the anticipation of the achievement. Doing it your way and you miss out on all that... Speedway history has nothing to do with it. Its all about now , to day, this years. Just because we failed in the past, that has nothing whatsoever to what we can achieve this year. -

When you support somebody or a team, rationalisation goes out of the window. you only see one side, there is only going to be one outcome. There is no competition your team are always going to win. You cannot understand why some people don't see it your way. It's obvious, your team is always the best.... That's the way a supporter will see it....... If you really support your team, it is impossible to predict honestly......... Like you say you got it spectacularly wrong on Monday with your honest predictions so why not have more faith in the team you are supporting. We can do this......... -

What is it about the Stars supporters ,that they all think we are always going to lose. You lot remind me of Man U supporters, in that you only cheer when they're winning, Why don't you have belief in our side. Why all be this negative approach. This is the best Stars side we've had for years, and all we hear is we gonna lose this, there're better side than us, Do well to keep it close. For crying out loud what will it take to be positive for once. Does it matter if we lose, does it matter if our prediction is wrong, what harm does it do. But as always, sitting on the fence is the easy option. Why not stand up for what you want in life and what you believe in...!! So far this year, I have been to Coventry, Wolverhampton, Birmingham believing we could win. Disappointed of not going to Lakeside, but even then thought we would get something out of the meeting. I'll go again on Thursday as always, believing we will win. and win well... So what if we lose .. I least I know where my support lies..... instead of sitting on that bloody fence all the time. -

So sorry for being optimistic. We've had 50 of not being good enough . This year is going to be different. Poole are only a team like us. who want to win.... -

Yeah I agree with you, I don't see this being any different then all our other matches. Every team comes to the NA and puts up a good show and Poole will be no different. Looking at the teams on a one to one basis we more than hold our own. Guesting Woffy for Kenneth is a positive step, one that, in my opinion tips the scales our way. So come on, No more faint hearted precautions, let us show some belief in this team.. If we can go to Lakeside and win, we can beat anyone home or away..... -
Lakeside V Kings Lynn 19 May El A Sky Match
g13webb replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think that a bit harsh. Ellis was 2 laps into the race and at the back, laying it down was an obvious option knowing he nor Lakeside were not going to get any points. Mallet's was a completely different situation, he was forced wide at the start of the race to go into the fence and stayed down hoping for a rerun with all four back. Yeah I agree he may have stayed down but this was for his own perspective not that of the teams benefit. As a matter of interest I thought he was way out of his depth........and was scrapping for bits.... he battled hard but got no where..... -

Never let it be said that I run Karlsson down, but I have to agree that I believe it wrong, that he should be riding as a No1 for any team. He has been a wonderful ambassador for our sport for many years, and no doubt can still help many of the young riders now coming through. but a No 1 he is not. Davey Watt is different. I believe he could go in any team and score points. Although not of the class of Niels, Darcy, Woffy, Zager or PK, he is better than some teams have on offer. You only have to look back to last weeks Pairs Meeting to see him at his best.. No I think Watts is one of the good things about Lakeside team...... -

I don't know if I should be classed like Baggy and the others, as I thought , with a full team we were able to get something from this meeting, But even I wasn't prepared for what happened last night. A truly wonderful team performance, that exceeded everyone expectations. Wow what a result. Just imagine what we've done with a full side. Massive well done the Stars. Praise to Rob Lyon for the replacements, having the weaker riders going first, whilst still in contention, leaving Niels and Rory to go when the pressure was on. Well done all round. Have a good feeling this year.... Finger crossed.. Also, Liked the fact Sky showed the conversations with the Ref , And also feel the Ref got both decisions spot one. Firstly, Lambert didn't deserve a point after stopping with a loose seat, and secondly, Ellis knew exactly what he was doing when laying there waiting for the race to stop. Listening to the Manager / Ref conversation, and then to Tatum, this scenario is always on the agenda. Well Done Ref...... -

I am neither a romantic, nor a dreamer. I believe if you enter a competition, you do so to try and win every time.. Taking your attitude about Lakeside match, why bother to send a team at all, just give them the points. Why cheat the public out of their hard earnt cash. I know that Lakeside is a hard place to go to. It offers massive home advantage. But we have to raise above that and compete. Yeah I know we have been rubbish there in the past, but we have a new team this year who are learning fast. I'm sure giving them the chance we will do well. There are teams who go there with a win mentality and have been successful, whereas other teams go with this defeatist belief and come away with nothing. Its obvious which ones we are. Whether we like Lakeside or not, while they are in the league, we have to treat them like everyone else. Once you start picking matches to win, and others to lose, we might as well pack up..... 'PMPO' , You say you will be FUMING if we have RR on Thursday against Poole. So why the double standards?? -

I don't go along with your 'either-or' scenario, why not have guest for both meetings. This is a big match, 1st verses 2nd. The camera are there, and it would have been an ideal opportunity to make a massive statement of intent. We were to go there with 4 young riders never having ridden there, but willing to give it all. With a decent guest we could have got something from this. Batch, Kildemand, Mads, would have done far better than RR. Christ, we've had 3 weeks to sort a guest out. We could have had one arranged on standby, waiting on the KB situation. Now we go there with no hope , like Lambs to the slaughter. Tell me, why was the three points at Brum more important than the ones at Lakeside. Why did we bother to have guests one week and the next meeting, not bother... Don't make sense to me..... -

That tells me, Rob and Buster aren't fussed either. A fit Kenneth could score double figures, RR will get nothing like that. No way would they go there with R/R if they had any ideas of gaining a point or two. -

I 've hated this place for years. Can't ever remember us doing well here. Can't imagine this year being any different. Just a shame this was one of the televised meetings. Think we'll do well to get anything near 40 points.. One of the few places I don't bother to go to.......... -
Phil, don't knock the RUTS, without them there would've been no overtaking at all. I know they are dangerous, but at least they provided some form of processional change of order.. At meetings like this, I feel for writers like yourself, whom are all expected to give a positive angle on it. but after watching this rubbish, fend or please, I would have to tell it like it was.......

Does anybody know of the decisions tomorrow in regards to Kenneth riding in this fixture. Looking at him in the farcical SGP, he looked very tentative when close to other riders, but when he gated he seemed to cope ok with the track. I personally feel this fixture has come to soon and looking at the long term, it probably be best, if he gave the collar bone more time to mend, than come back too soon. My choice would be a 'Horse for the course' guest in preference to RR. But, as there are 2 other matches on, the choice is limited. No doubt Rob and Buster are on the case. -
Was the shape of the track better, Was there overtaking in most races. It obviously wasn't a gate and go exercise, where the first man out always won, regardless of what part of the track he used. If so, next time we will have to get Finnish TV. Seriously though, that was really bad. As the Showpiece of our sport, the top production for attracting new fans, this was a disgrace and done more harm to the ordinary people's perception of speedway than not having a showpiece at all.
-
Sat and watched the SGP as normal, but what amazed on what was on offer. A truly terrible meeting, on a ridiculous track, that did no one any favours, lest of all the sport. If this is the best that can be offered to the public, one has to question those whose makes them decisions. The worse Grand Prix for some time........ Just pleased no one got injured

Wonderful. it was only yesterday you posted : Semion 7,748 posts Posted Yesterday, 07:23 PM : GRW, can I help it if I'm always right and you are always wrong. soundly like some self professed .........! And now you come out with the(Above) I can assure you are well wrong. Nygren, Hedge and Middleton were here and gone long before Michael Lee arrived. We had two decent sides between that trio and Lee arriving...So it pleases me to inform you, that you are WRONG with your memory, your timing is way out In the early 70's we had a wonderful team of Betts, Simmo, Howard Cole, Phil Crump, Bob Humphreys and Crowson. I believe we finished second only to the mighty Belle Vue, inspired by the great Ivan Mauger. It was good times then with big crowds . We thought then it was only a matter of time before that title came our way. Now 40 tears on and we're still waiting.. Who knows? probably this will be our year.... we can all but hope.
