  1. Yeah, I'll second that. In the many years I've watched this sport, I would have to place Rickardsson as the best rider I have ever seen. That man could do it all.......
  2. I feel quite confident we'll take point(s) away from our visit to Dorset. How many, depends on many thing, but its a long time since we go to places like Poole and feel confident of success. Could be a practice run for the play-offs.
  3. Kenneth said on Twitter he's intended to ride......Fingers crossed...
  4. I said from the off, I think Coventry are a decent side. I don't believe your top riders will go through the card, but are more than capable of all scoring decent points. I believe our main strength is our youngsters who are all scoring good points. Rose, to me is a big lost, in that the replacements is governed by Rose's FTR position limiting the choice we can use. Was really impressed with Wright last night..... As long as our big three are somewhere near to their form, I think we will get all the points. But the thing about the NA, most team can come here and ride above themselves, and it is for that reason I can see this being quite close.
  5. Confucius once said: ' You can always find an excuse when you are looking for one' The abandonment of last night meeting was ridiculous. And we wonder why people don't go any more.............
  6. When meetings are cut short, it always leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. The reality of any decision has to be made because of riders safety. The points situation, although critical, should never come into the equation. Either the track is unsafe or it's not. This rule about heat 10 was designed as a decision point, solely for the purpose of awarding a result. It doesn't mean that the tracks are always ok up to heat 9. Decisions will always be made dictated by the finances of the situation. Promotions will never volunteer to give money back, so will always run long enough to off put that, but the track can be unsafe before then and meeting called off, but it never is.......... The curtailing of last nights meeting was a joke. It echoed insults to the paying public and the tele audiences. The decision was made for all the wrong reasons. Those who partook in that decision must question their reasons. As it happened heat 12 was probably the best race of the night. Three of the four riders were racing to the line with no issues with the track at all, while the one involved in that decision making was at the back. ( Strange that) Whether BV managed to get a point is unimportant. But it was wrong of Swindon to cancel the meeting purely, safeguarding the points they had already earnt, at the expense of taking the supporters money under pretence.
  7. I'm sure you're trying to wind me up on purpose.
  8. Appreciate what you are saying and the reasons why, but realistically it can never work. There are so many issues within the sport already this would only add to them. The logic of watching top riders has been well documented, but unfortunately their world revolves around 'MONEY'. The biggest draw of this sport is excitement, equality, racing, environment, atmosphere and last but not least is VFM. This is the biggest problem. The admission prices now borders on the line of being too expensive and the fans can't afford to pay any more to come . This is why the gates are so low. For the sport to move forward, we need to invent ways to reduce the costs. Unfortunate having two No1's would only make the sport more expensive and would only make the wealthiest clubs stronger. Sorry Trees........
  9. As always Coventry will come to the Norfolk Arena and put up a good fight. Hoping both teams are at full strength and the weather stays fine. We will then have all the ingredients for a close match. Predict: 10 pt home win. with Kerr getting paid 12.
  10. I hope not !! Kenneth and Lambert are definitely missing and possibly Rose as well. Missing 2 good riders limits the use of cover using R/R. Plus Rose is a massive loss because his replacement are so substandard compared to him. Get next week out the way and hopefully we'll get back to a full team again.
  11. Feel sad to hear the passing of Simmo, but also honoured to have had the privileged of knowing him. The years he spent at Lynn provided wonderful memories and the excitement created with the battles with Bettsy for being the No1 will never be forgotten.. Simmo was everything a rider could be, Smart, Intelligent, Sharp, Smooth, Ladies Man, Leader, Mechanic, even a Rogue at times. He was undoubtedly, in a class of his own and lived life to the full.... RIP Simmo....
  12. Now Lamberts average has gone up from 3 to 5.33 we should have a better choice of replacement.
  13. Sad to hear the news that Malcolm Simmons past away today. He was one of the Stars great riders. Those who knew you, will never forget those wonderful years when riding in the Green and Yellow. RIP mate........Thanks for the memories.......
  14. That bet is looking good......Feel sure he'll reach a 6 before the season ends. ... Getting better all the time..........
  15. When the meeting was cancelled, the fortunes favoured Poole last night, in that they didn't have to ride with a weakened team. I'm not suggesting for one minute it is right that teams have to ride with weak replacements, but that's the way it is sometimes. One must feel sorry for Swindon, who, for the second time, was less fortunate... When will the authorities sort this mess out......
  16. To me it's not about what you win, Its more about how you win. You may have your name on the trophy, but it was Birmingham that won all the respect from the speedway world last year. They deserved to win the league title, all you did was, conjure ways to cheat and deceive your way into the playoffs. and for that you don't earn any respect. If that what its takes to win, then I would rather the Stars lose......
  17. Screamer, I altered your post, hope you don't mind.. .... You go on about our history and I for one am proud of what the Stars have achieved. Ok we haven't won the big title, the League championship, but that's not the big issue. What we have achieved we have done so by doing it right. We are one of the few clubs that have their own Stadium. We are one of the few clubs who have our own feeder section of talent in the National league, We are a club who competes within the rules. A club every riders want to ride for and every fan wants to come and watch. Other teams come here knowing they will be able to race and win. That counts for a lot. This year we have assembled a wonderful team, one, able to win most matches. Whether we win the league or not is irrelevant. We should be enjoying the time that we are ruling the roost. Last year, Birmingham deservingly won the league, throughout the whole season, they performed the best to achieve that mantel. Just because we now have playoff's to satisfy the tele doesn't take away what Birmingham achieved. Not wanting to get involved with the exploits of certain club, but you'll always get a team that comes along and spoil the party, but that's what the rules allow. So whether we win the play-offs or not I shall thoroughly enjoy this time when we are out performing other teams, and will keep harping on about 'How good we are' . One day that mantel of league champions will eventually arrive...... Will it be this year ? ..... it could be.....who knows...... To be honest its not that important. What is important, is that the Stars continue to do it right, and while we do that , than I for one, will not be sitting on that bloody fence............
  18. I'm amazed of all this talk about the fast track riders, who are right and who is wrong. To argue about the list now is ridiculous. My biggest concerns are about the differences in the CMA because of what category they are riding against, and what will happen to them next year. All this has yet to be announced. But the plus factor of the FTR is that, now we have at least a dozen young brits all competing in the top league and getting wonderful experiences and progressing at a far greater speed than they would other wise have done. Adam Ellis, Joe Jacobs, Paul Starke, Ashley Morris, Kyle Newman, Jason Garrity and Lewis Kerr are all riders that have impressed this year and will no doubt be top name for the future. It been along time since we had so much talent coming through the ranks and that can only be good for British Speedway. Long may it continue.
  19. I would've thought you would want a good race surface every Meeting????????
  20. Why is it all these foreign riders names are difficult to pronounce. Gone are the days of Olsen, Penhall, Briggs, Fundin, when we all knew how to pronounce them
  21. Not surprised to see the miracle, Buster did with the track. Have witnessed his expertise before, when turning an absolute mire into a race track within an hour. When it comes to preparing a race track Buster has no equal. He takes pride in his work and has everything wanted, at his disposal. Funny meeting and thoroughly enjoyed the late night. Unlike some, I really rate this Stars team, and feel we are more than capable of winning each match. We are strong in each of the 3 categories. Tonight our heat leaders struggled to score the points we have come accustomed too, but our second strings and draft riders again performed admirable to compensate and won with some to spare. I believe Poole will always be there or thereabouts because of their mentality. But there is not reason to fear them. Yes, they have some good riders, but so do we. Unlike other nights this year, I never felt at any time we were going to lose. There were no squeaky bum races when we were relying on max points, tonight we were never behind and always with a bit to spare. Looking back, to be 8 pts up with a race to go was something of a luxury for us. We have had harder meetings here this year than we had last night. No doubt we can take a lot of positives from the meeting. If Poole were able to win they should have done so last night. Most of the incidents that happened resulted in Poole's favour. Even the most blatant rolling at the gate by Hopwood, the ref let go and allowed Josh a surprise win. Another day, with a full team, our heat leaders will score more heavily, and as shown the rest are more than able to stand up and be counted. No , last nights match was just great..........
  22. There will always be those For and Against with any rules. Like it has been said, they introduce the TR for a reason, and like it or not they are the rules of the league. This has not been the only time that results have gone to the team using these rules. Winning at Lakeside last week wasn't lessoned because we use the TR. Many times at the NA we have been way ahead only for the opposition to come back into the match because of the TR. Whether we like it or not it serves a purpose. I don't remember Poole moaning when they use it to stay in contention playing Swindon in the Play-offs. No-one likes it but every team uses it......... Part of the game.....
  23. When was the last time Poole lost two meetings at home in 8 days?
