Wow, what a meeting , what a result......Obviously ecstatic with our stunning victory last night. As I had previously said, I thought it was possible to win there and get the 3pts, but no way did I think we would batter them. Standing there with the home fans, After each of a Stars race wins the place was very quite, resembled a dentist waiting room. I tried not to look smug, but I felt, that they knew they were going to lose. Towards the end of the meeting, it changed, they seemed to have excepted defeat and started clapping and talking more. The best race was Ht 11 between Niels and Pawlicki, and the call for all four back when Thorssell slipped off was a joke. Winning big races when it mattered was the key to last night's victory and the 5-1 in heat 13 against their biggest rivals sealed the deal...... I would just like to point out one thing, in response to comment made about Niels in that first ride. The track at the start of the meeting was ridiculously wet, and the starting positions were more relevant. Starting from gate 4 the riders got filled in with wet slush and were blinded. Their race was over. Niels tried hard at the start, but on the outside, after one lap he couldn't see, feverishly, pulling his goggle string to stay in contention. Eventually, after 3 laps he had to remove his goggles just to stay on the track. So no, he didn't give up as been said. He was annoyed that the track was that wet and turned the race into a lottery. Kenneth Bjerre suffered a similar fate in heat 3. But the track was always going to dry out. This is not a moan just stating how wet the track was at the start of the meeting. As well as the Stars performed, special mention for our 2 guest. they performed brilliantly and many supporters will wonder why they are not riding for their clubs. Good gating and inventive first corners took them to the front in most of their racer. So a big thank you to our guests and to Rob Lyon for the thinking behind it. The journey home was more enjoyable than usual, but it's not very often you go to a fortress and win so comfortable..........

It appear we always go to Wolves when the Stars are racing there We've seen some good meetings and some disastrous ones, but the common denominator is that Referee always make at least one mare of a decision in favour of the home team, every time we go..... Think it was 2 or 3 years back, in the reserve race, we were trailing in 3rd and 4th positions, way out of it, when staring lap 2, the lad in 3rd spun out on the 1st bend. Following close behind, our rider in 4th laid his bike down in trying to avoid his mate, but unfortunately collided with him. The Referee in her wisdom( I think it was a woman Ref) decided to let the race run the distance. We had Marshalls waving, to slow the riders down, so they could weave between the fallen riders to complete the course. Then the announcement saying the Wolves won the race 5-0. What a fiasco....... She made a few that night, remember in a later heat when all four fell at the 1st corner, she excluded Magic, for the stoppage cos he was the last in a domino effect........... Just hope tonight the Ref has more sense than that.......

Sky have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot. They are the first to moan about postponed matches and the cost involved setting up the cameras but can see no further than the end of their noses. To put a documentary about Woffy, on at the same time as a speedway match, involving Woffy is senseless. Like as been said, this would have been an ideal meeting to televise and promote the sport. Both teams nearly at full strength, will be going all out to win, on a track built for racing. The result could go either way.. When Sky were looking for the ideal meetings to televise at the start of the season, this one should have been near top of the pile. But as normal they go for predicted outcome meetings. Personally, I'm pleased it's not televised. I shall be going any way, to see this close encounter. When meeting are live all they do is slow down the proceedings to suit the a time schedule and adverts....... Prediction: Close call that could go either way, Expect 1pts at least for our travels, could even be more.............

Lakeside V King's Lynn 20th June 2014
g13webb replied to Trees's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think that perception is directed to the fact it's small and offers tremendous home advantage because of it's uniqueness. Saying that, I thought last night it there was a good surface and varying lines and provided decent racing. Strange meeting. We started off so well winning the first 6 heats building a lead of 8 points. Then lakeside upped their game and provided good gating and brilliant team riding turning the match around in their favour. Niels and Scotty were masterful with three 5-1's, their second bringing us back into contention. But Lakeside reacted brilliantly to win Ht 14 when it mattered and destroyed any chances we may have thought we had of winning. Although we lost, I hope now, the Stars have destroyed that myth that we don't do any good at Lakeside, and go there in the future with the knowledge we can compete with them on their track. Well done lads. Didn't want the run to end, but with the monkey off our back now, we just go out and do the business...... Just a quick thanks to the guests last night, Scotty and Blackbird rode brilliant securing good points, Graversen was always going to find it hard, but you couldn't fault his effort....... -

Well done to Lakeside on an impressive victory. Obviously disappointed to lose but the law of averages say it bound to happen sooner rather than later. Although we started off really well, The track finally took its toll on the inexperienced riders who could only muster 3 points between the 3 of them. Lamberts cord error was so elementary. It should never happen in a professional sport............ But that's all a learning curve, I can't imagine he'll do it again..... Sad to hear Holder broke his wrist tonight in accident in Denmark. also hear that although Porsing hard a bad fall, but apparently got away with a few bruises -
Thanks appreciate it.

Just heard Porsing Just crashed in Denmark . Anybody got any news .

The jest of the tweets says that Smolinski hit Watts from the back going for a space that wasn't there, Creating a bad smash that could've been avoided. Then other tweeters were asking was his switch in the On or Off position. I can only assume, these comments were made before they knew the extent of Davey's injuries... -

Although including 3 accomplished guest, I believe, the Stars traveling to Lakeside, still weakens our side. But in saying that, Lakeside have now lost their 2 top riders and I feel their lost is a far bigger than ours. Read come comical tweets directed to Smolinski for the Watts accident. Apparently, a bad crash that was avoidable. Sorry to hear of Davey injuries and hope he makes a speedy recovery. Always thought we would've won this match anyway, but I feel now, with the makeshift teams, the task has become easier...... -

Talking with Porsing during the Wolves away match, he said he wasn't that keen on tight tracks. But as time goes on he seems to be getting dialled in now and looks far more comfortable than he used to. Has made massive strides this year and has beaten some real BIG names........................ Such a shame he isn't British....... terrific new talent...... -
Remembering back to the good ole days, when a pint was a quid and fags were even less, there was far more trees about then. When doing my apprenticeship at the British Sugar, I remember, they owned large areas of land for social happenings. The areas that weren't used had big trees and woodlands. When the land was first sold off, the trees were replaced with warehousing. Since them it has all changed into industrial areas, Business units everywhere and the building aren't as high.. I think the immediate answer is for Buster to build a big Grandstand over the pit area, Only jesting Buster.......

It'll be close but have belief we can do this. In Blackbird and Nicholls we have two good guests, And in Niels, Rory, Rose and Lambert we have riders who can all win races and score enough points. I'm going for a win by 4 pts......... Niels 15, Rory 10+ Scotty 7- 9, with Lambert getting man of the match....... :t:

I use to stand there because people we use to mix with was always there. Close the to that bar, and refreshment, toilet close as well. It wasn't until we moved we realised just how little you could see. People , pillars, were always in the way, you never had a good view. I'm 6ft. plus and still I had to stretch on tee-toe to see them whizz by. Since then I've stood on all 4 bends and can appreciate why people view from there. But without doubt the best view in the house is from the Royal Box. You see it all from an advantage point. In situations like this, I will wait and purchase the video recording of the meeting just to satisfy my own integrity. But knowing now where you were standing I can understand your perception.... Just one other thing. Niels is the ultimate professional, a true gentleman, with no enemies. He rides hard, but always fair. Can that be said about Pedersen????
-
Never read such rubbish in my life. After a statement like that, I question do you actually see the races. To compare the two instances of, 1, Niels pass on Cook and 2, Pedersen attempt on Zagar is like comparing chalk with cheese. I don't know where you were viewing from, but from the Royal Box, we had a perfect view. Niels, having missed the gate and powered into second position, comes into 3rd bend , behind Cooke, on an outside run. Half way round the corner, he straightening up and drives to the inside of Cooke, who was drifting wide, thinking Niels was coming round him, Niels takes the lead entering the finishing straight . Never were they that close. There was plenty of room and here was no touching at any time. How that compares with Pedersen barging into Zagar entering the 3rd bend is beyond me.

Phew.. Thurs 6.50am, and just got home. They dragged that out a bit.. First the wretched Sun, The track was watered too much, Tractor racing between the heats, Gardening demonstration to start each race, More Sun shinning on the 4th bend, Engine failures, Tape Breaking, Riders falling off, To many re-starts, More gardening, More Re-rerun. Road works blacking the way home, Traffic lights not working. God it just went on and on and on ..............Yawn........... We even missed out on all the planned NKI v Zagar races because of EF's, It was not good, the only plus factor was we got the 3 pts...........

Cant believe all this rubbish being posted on here. and the opinions of some. I don't hate Woffy, but his behaviour has to be looked at sensibly. No, he didn't break any rules, No, it didn't gain him an advantage, but it could be seen to set a precedent of future meetings. Had the referee been strong enough, he could have taken control of the situation and ordered the riders back to the pits, end of story. We want this sport to prosper, to appeal to new supporters. We want the meetings to flow, with little or no holdups. What we don't want is riders going to the start area prior to an important race to do preparation work . Can you imagine the issues if this was done at a SGP final. No of cause not.... This has to be stopped now.... Whether you saw no wrong in what Woffy was doing, it has no place in our struggling sport.

British Final 2014
g13webb replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
What is with Referees and getting things wrong. After watching Germany and Portugal fiasco when the whole charade was created by a stupid ref decision, we watch the British Speedway Final and the Ref is just as bad. To be good Ref, you need to be consistent, be strong and have a certain amount of common sense. Didn't see that last night. In the very first heat he disqualifies King when he was left high and dry, Fair enough if he treats all races the same, but we saw later he thought differently. Kelvin Tatum says too much and makes decisions before the Ref announcement, I'm sure the Ref listened to Tatum judgement before he makes his. That's weak. At times I thought Tatum was the referee. The big one was the Bomber and Nicholls , even with the tele playbacks to help make his mind up, the Ref again done as Tatum said . Bomber knew he'd lost out to Scotty from the previous corner, and despite laying on him, he calculated his slide off was the only option of a final place. Every opinion, read and listened was voiced in Nicholls favour. Then the Come Gardening programme at the end of the night, again show the Ref up in a bad light. Other than that, good meeting, plenty of race winners, and the deserved winner had to be Woffy. When it comes to British riders, Woffy in a class of his own....... -
I found the whole episode rather bizarre that the riders were allowed to do such thing. The referee was shown to be weak in that he didn't stop the ridiculous behaviour. After last night meeting, all riders will now bring a Vibrating Plate to the meeting so they can prepare their start position. Whatever next, A wheelbarrow of extra muck and a shovel?? I can remember a meeting, when come the final Michael Lee parked his bike on the side of the track, just so he could prepare his piece of track at the gate and the ref wanted to disqualify him. There was up-roar. eventually the ref relented on the agreement that the trackman regraded the start so be fair to all riders. I thought at the time it was because the referee had an issue with Lee, but it was said the riders must have hold of the bike at all times, hence the usual plodding and stamping with the feet..... Has that rules gone as well........or was that just someone's interpretation........

I'm hoping it sounds worse than it actually is. The biggest issue when you dislocate a joint is that it lends itself to be suspect for further problems, i.e. easier to come out like. Like has been said, we have a few points to play with, and the choice of all the FTR to cover, lets hope for a speedily return, but not to be rushed back in fear of further damage....

Reading his Twitter quote, Lewis Kerr's shoulder injury sounds bad, has anyone heard about the seriousness of Lewis Rose's injury yet? A double whammy in one night.
-
The law of averages say, when riders are performing as often as the riders of today are, there are bound to be injuries , mishaps and problems. But its the nature of the game and applies to all the teams. Its just that I would rather approach life with a positive attitude than of someone who is always thinking of what could go wrong.. Obviously Lewis Kerr is of paramount importance to any success we achieve, and god forbid, if he were to be out long term, he can still take a lot of pride for what he has already achieved this year. Here's hoping the injury is not as bad as first thought and you get back soon. Your absence will be sorely missed......... Wishing you a speedy recovery.............
