Good to hear Team Lewis is back on track, Anyone know if Porsing rode at the weekend? Will he be ready to ride Wednesday or are we using a guest. Edit: Just read on Twitter, Porsing scored a 15pts max:: https://twitter.com/NicklasPorsing. Seems it's all systems go again.

Danish Gp 28/6
g13webb replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There's nothing wrong with the scoring and format. It is unusual for a SGP rider to go through the card as Batch did at the weekend. But fair do's he did exceptionally well, but you cant change the system because in this instants the top scorer didn't win. I think the last three heats are the best races in every Grand Prix. It bring back the cut and thrust of the sudden death of the olde 'Wembley One Off's' I say, leave well alone................ It's not broken and doesn't need fixing. -
Michael Lee's First paid maximum for Kings Lynn was in a 52-26 home win against Hackney on Sat July 26 1975. Lee's age at that time was 16yrs 207 days. Bettsy also went through the card that night in what proved a relatively easy win. Lee followed that with his first Full maximum for Boston Cudas the following night against Mildenhall . His third a final maximum in that first year was his best, when riding against top team Reading in a close encounter on the Oct 11 1975, beating top names Dave Jessup and John Davies in his last ride to secure his first full score......

Congratulation to Niels on winning the Danish SGP at the weekend. Also to Troy Batchelor, a real surprise to everyone. I know Troy don't run for us anymore but both riders performances and connections help in keeping Kings Lynn name to the fore in world of speedway............. Must say, It can't get any better for a top rider to win his country's own GP. Well Done Niels... A truly epic performance.........

There's nobody more Blind, than those who don't want to see.!!!!!!!!!! Amazing.........
-
Like you I have been watching speedway a long time. I have seen many top riders performing unbelievable feats. Also, I have been to many meeting when lesser riders have performed really well. Both excite me. Just because the names on the board are that of top riders, doesn't necessarily mean the racing will be of top quality racing.... or VFM

So the sport is to be held to ransom because these two wont change their ideas... Brilliant !!!!
-
I'm under no illusions as to the state of this sport, so yes I can smell the coffee, but I can also see the bigger picture. You seem to live with thoughts of granular of where this country stands in the Speedway ratings of importance. You question the dilation of quality riders, as if we have a choice, but the fact remains we cannot afford to compete with countries like Poland Denmark and Sweden, and the sooner all the supporter realise this the better. The biggest issue with this sport is finance. Riders pay big monies for quality equipment, Promoters have to meets the riders high costs, and to do that the fans have to pay through the nose. All them are facts. There is no way the promotions can reduce the admissions, all they can do, is reduce the cost of the riders. That where the FTR system comes in. So to answer one of your points, is there a dilution of top quality riders, then YES, but not the quality of entertainment. You moan about the number of meetings using Guests and RR, Unfortunately this will always happen until this country comes into line with other countries and run meetings on a strict day schedule. Until that time we have no choice but to fill in the spaces with whoever, and hope the public wont mind. To me, running Elite League fixtures at the weekend is a No-Go............ but then again I'm not a Promoter.........
-
Not wanting to discredit Lambert in any way, His performance last night was brilliant. Whether he goes on to compare with Michael Lee only time will tell.. In Michael's first year he rode in 27 league meeting and averaged 7.43. scoring 1 full and 2 paid maximums. But like as already been said the quality now is only a fraction of what it was then.

Kings Lynn Stars V Eastbourne Eagles Thurs 26/6
g13webb replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Some people you just cannot satisfy. Just because you have a downer with your teams away form, I think it would be wrong to overlook the tremendous achievement of a sixteen year old attaining his first maximum in the Elite League. I too was disappointed with the points tally of Eastbourne, I thought they rode far better than that, and don't deserve the pitiful comment you posted..... Let hope, when we go to Eastbourne next week, we put up a show that is more to your liking....... -
Kings Lynn Stars V Eastbourne Eagles Thurs 26/6
g13webb replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I came on here last couple weeks back moaning about the long drawn out affair after attending a stop-go meeting, so I am the first to say what a wonderful change last night was. Starting on time the meeting just flowed. There were no Re-starts, no Crashes, no Hold ups, no Going back to the pits, very little Gardening, and with the rain not far away, the Ref pushed the meeting through splendidly. I was back in my house by 9.30, the wife was most surprised. Looking back, I feel the racing was better than the score suggests. We may have scored big points but Eastbourne were always there snapping away. The heats they did win they showed spirit and fight. Woodward, Pederson and Michelsen all had their moments and were never far from the action. Newman also tried hard but was a scant replacement for the in-form Blackbird. I was disappointed with the others and expected more fight from those worldly travelled riders The quality of the Stars last night was stunning. Each and everyone deserves a mention but it was Lambert who stole the show. From the gate or from the back he was simply awesome and collected his first paid maximum in the top level. Brilliant, for his reward he was then nominated for the final race and again taking Pedersen from the back to partner the ever impressive Niels to another 5-1. The expression on his face said it all. He'll remember last night for the rest of his life. No doubt, his mum captured it all on camera, so pleased I was there to witness it. I'm sure this maximum will be the first of many. -

I agree with you, Eastbourne's top 5 all ride the NA well, I believe we will win but it wont be all one way............ -
The fact that I've been going and supporting Lynn for more years than I care to remember should answer your query. For me, being top of the league is a novelty
-
Depends what you refer to as 'Product.' My understanding of the 'Product' is entertainment and exciting racing. So yes quiet sure. The racing this years has been far more competitive, and the meetings far closer than have in previous years. If on the other hand you refer to the 'Product' as the number of top quality riders, than I would obviously have a different opinion. But then I wouldn't be going anyway....... and satisfy my cravings by only watching SGP on the box..... If I had to choice between going to Lynn each meeting or watching Grand Prix on the tele, Lynn would win everytime......
-
All the major issues surrounding this sport are financial. Introducing the FTR scheme was done as a cost saving idea, without necessarily weakening the product. It also gave more opportunity to the young British riders to progress at a much faster rate. Bit like a double whammy, to benefit this sport. The one big problem is that some supporters are only looking as far as their noses. Just because, we now have more lesser riders, they expect the product to be cheaper. The whole idea was to make the promotion more affordable so there are less clubs finding it difficult to survive. This is not a thriving enterprise, more of a struggle and any chance of cutting costs, both to Promoters and Fans has to be initiated. Probably in your eyes the product is not as good as before, but to me, the entertainment hasn't changed and is as good as it's always been. . I believe there have been many good ideas posted on here, and no doubt more changes will to be made. What we mustn't do is give up ........
-
In theory they could do that, but in reality it would be more difficult. If Milik and Josh G reached the sort of averages needed to facilitate Hancock and KK, then they would be promoted to heat leaders way before that, and then be racing against stronger opposition. For this theory to be possible, both Magic and Pawlicki would have to make significant increases to their scores .. And if they were achieving them scores then why would you want to change ............
-
When things are going so well for your own club its quite easy to forget the problems other teams are facing. I really feel for Birmingham and sincerely hope it works out for you.. Promoters are arrear breed. People who are prepared to put their own wealth on the line, and gamble everything, when historically its a hard business to succeed in. Such is the cost, it must make it very daunting to attract someone new into the game. When taking over an existing stadium and team, Its not possible to start at the bottom and gradually improve like some ventures. The public and fans want it now, straight away, and if not they wont bother to go and support you. It may appear the Lynn Stars have it all. Own track, No close competitors, Loyal fan base, but it don't happen over night. Have no doubt that Buster and co have worked really hard over the years to reach the position they are now. We are so fortunate to have someone at the helm like Buster Chapman. Buster was always in it for the long haul and knows it has to be done right. Treat everyone with respect, The Riders, The Supporter, The BSPA and they will respect you in return. There is no Quick Fix.. or a Quick Buck...... Hate to see any club fold, and sincerely hope a solution is found to save what was once a massive club........
-
My sentiments exactly.. ......
-
Understand what you're saying, but if you had a 2nd string scoring that well, why would you want to change him????
-
This problem should have been sorted long ago. I appreciate the issues with greyhound landlords, but surely a compromise could be reached. After all, the landlords wouldn't want to lose the out on the rent implications. I believe there are quite a few problems with the way our sport is governed but racing every night of the week is the biggest one. The other major countries run on specific days and we have to fall in line. We are forever moaning about the lack of top riders over here. If we get the schedule sorted, more riders would come on board......
-
Looking at all the teams in the Elite league, the senses of opinion seems to put their top riders at 1 and 5. Trying to think of the reasons for this, Team Manager want the opportunity to score 5-1's as often as possible. I like the idea of the top man being No1. Its like a mantel on his shoulder saying you're the top man and everyone knows that. Of the other two, I believe 5 has always good company of heat leaders to race with, whereas, 3 has to fend and protect a second string in some the races, so probably 3 is tougher place then 5.... The knack here is to have 3 accomplished heat leaders. Now that Rory's back to his old form, being at No 3, brings all his attributes to the fore.......
-
Against the point you are making, is the fact, the rules dictate the main riders in the team: top 3 are heat leaders, and the other two are second strings. So if a second string ups his average, he then becomes a heat leader. The heater leader dropping to a second string, obviously finding the new format more difficult as seen by his scores. But now the 2nd string being a heat leader will find it a lot harder to score points and now this scores will drop. So yes it could be possible, but highly unlikely. Any new riders has to be integral to those rules.

Kings Lynn Stars V Eastbourne Eagles Thurs 26/6
g13webb replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Would've loved, for England to have done well in the World Cup. Not necessary win it, but to have competed well and reached, say the semi's instead of their dismal showing. It was important that England performed well, but for Eastbourne to win by 10, Nah... It wasn't that important........ -
You're missing the point here, Obviously from your comments you gave last night's meeting a miss. Niels try to stay in contention, despite riding blind, at every opportunity he was trying to clear his vision. Eventually he had to remove his goggle, this was at the start of the last lap, By this time he had distance himself from the back of the pack. Niels was still on the track when the race finished in a 4-2 win for the Wolves. No doubt had someone had fallen off or packed up, I can assure you Niels would have been aware of it and finished the race. As it was, being close to the back to the pits he turned into opening close by. So it wasn't a Big Deal !!! No, probably I miss wrote what I actually meant . Not meaning he shows off when riding, but remembered the instance when he had stopped during a 3 man race and had to be reminded to finish just to receive the point, and then went on a show -off lap, to give a wheelie demonstration as if he had won the meeting....
-
Lambert is a strange one. Appreciating he is just old enough to ride, he at times is unbelievable, and can easily imagine him as a future World Champion. Other times he seems very immature in his riding and showing off to all and sundry. Hoping he will mature into a top class rider for the future, but as far as I'm concerned the jury out on just good he could be. But what potential......
