  1. Signing foreign riders can work, But you do it with your eyes open. We attended a Supporters Meeting back in Nov or Dec 2013. There, Buster explained why our fixture days varied from week to week. He went to great lengths exacting the reasons why. As our proposed team had 3 Danes, all wanting to ride in their native country operating on Wednesdays and Friday's, it was essential that some of our race nights had to be altered, hence we have Thurs and Fridays as well as Wednesdays Coventry's problems were no different, and had they had been as meticulous as Buster, there would have been no problem. The signing of MJJ merely accentuated the issue. Buster has shown, it is possible to sign foreign riders and make it work.
  2. Surprised there was a decent turnout. Not the best we've had, but a long way from the worst. As predicted on here the result was inevitable, but there were a few decent races with Lasse and Lambert swapping places being the best...... Niels was in a class of his own tonight, I swear he gets smoother each week. He weaves his magic around the track like an illusionist, Never have I seen him so polished. That first heat, when on .3 sec off the 12 yr track record was worth the admission alone. I felt sorry for Simon Lambert, who must surely have been embarrassed to be half a lap adrift. My time at Lynn I've seen some wonderful talented riders, a few World Champions, But Niels performances tonight were up there with the best of them... Good to see Kenneth back among the points, will do his confidence no harm at all. As expected most home riders collected the spoils. Also expected, Bomber was by far the best visitor and even when beaten he battled to the end. Had a good victory when he gated in heat 15. Don't know what to say about Garrity, People seem to rave about him, but I'm troubled by what I see. He appears to lose bike control and sometimes his head. When he gets in front he goes very well. In his first ride he comes tearing out of the fourth bend straight across the track in front of Rose, who comes a cropper. I'm not saying Garrity was the cause of the stoppage but Rose wouldn't have come off if it hadn't been for Garrity. Then in Heat9 , from the gate Kerr on the inside and Rose had made the jump, Garrity is all arms and legs front wheel peering in the air, like someone hanging on like hell, he get the wheel down and in an effort to turn, smack straight into Rose taking him out. Nobody near us, could believe the Ref wanted all four back. I know that Garrity beat Kerr three times tonight, but I think Lewis didn't want to rush his return and thought best to take it easier. As always enjoyed our speedway match, shame about all the rules and issues surroundings this fixture. Pity the powers at B didn't care more about the roots of the sports and the effects their decisions have. I watched Buster intently tonight. He was his normal self rushing here there and everywhere to do whatever was needed for the meeting to run smoothly. It wasn't right that someone like him should be pillared, when all he wanted to do was promote a speedway match...... Why do politics, always have to get in the way.....
  3. So! I don't refer to the sport as them as us. to me we're all in this together regardless of which club or what league you're in. I was answering a post who thoughts Kids were the No.1 priority. I just asked the question, do teams, running at the weekend, get this massive support with kids able to go. What league, what venue is irrelevant. If Leicester get the same support now as they did before, then good.
  4. Whether they go tonight or not, each opinion is valid and equal to all others. Just because you decided we should make a stand, it's not right to penalise the Lynn stars. If a rally was organise to march into Rugby for our voices to be heard, my name would be the first on the list, but boycotting tonight would do no good what's so ever......
  5. Bit below the belt that, trying to push the emphasis elsewhere. Lynn cancelled only one meeting because of electrical fault , and that was pinpointed down to a blown transformer, which was not Lynn's responsibility . As for the bit about Stock Cars, your having a big larf.... Buster is that well organised he could run Speedway and Stock-cars on consecutive days... When it comes to organisation, Buster is the best in the business.....
  6. Sorry Star Lady!! but It had to be edited
  7. Just a question. Do those Premier League clubs that run at the weekend get massive gates, bearing in mind the Kids aren't at school..???? Kids are important, but they are not the governing factor. The sport needs supporters through the gates, but most of all they want those supporters who pay full whack to get in.
  8. Far from it, it was a totally different scenario altogether. Matt Ford cancelled his meeting because of the implications to riders averages and the changes he had planned. It was nothing to do with Lakeside, or the fact of whatever crowd would be attending, action that was beneficial to POOLE speedway only !!!! Buster has been backed into a corner, where whatever he does he loses, through no fault of his own....
  9. It's also wrong to expect a promoter to put on a meeting knowing it will lose money ???? Whichever way you look at it, they're no winners.........
  10. Wow.... Don't go blaming this on Lynn. When the fixtures were originally arranged we tried to accommodate every factor. We have home meetings on several days to enable our riders to be present. I'm sure had Coventry been as vidulent as Buster and Rob this meeting could have been arranged some other time, Even a Sky night Monday could have happened. I believe this wasn't a big problem for the Bees until they signed MJJ. then it meant 2 of their riders were missing. If the truth be known, it was only then, the problem became apparent......
  11. Seems like I will be one of the few people who will be going. That said, I must have plenty of money to waste, and not a very good home life.... Truth is I am one of those Hard Core fans, who never misses a meeting. I've been known to go all-day just to watch riders practise. But I'm not the sort of person the promoters need to target. It's Joe Public they need to interest...........
  12. What a larf that turned out to be : It should have read: Expect a one-sided fixture, with the full strength Stars side competing against Premier riders. Imagine the terraces to be empty and the home riders having afield day. Not what the sport wants......... Prediction: win by 30pts... 60 - 30
  13. Which two days to me are irrelevant. obviously these days should be decided between the countries involved. As long as they fitted in with other countries and their fixtures that is what is important. Allowances for rain-offs can be made at the end of the season. Its easy to take a negative approach and pick up on unimportant issues, that the reason we are in the state we are in at the moment.. Something as radical as this can't be ignored just incase we get some rain off meetings. I'm sure promoters can overcome this little problem. Why should they. I'm alright jack, Sod the rest. It is precisely that attitude that has taken the sport to the state it is now. Its always easier to be a big fish in a little pond, than to be a big fish in a big pond...
  14. I feel we have reached the last chance saloon and we have only this remaining opportunity to get it right. I sure the answers are there, just the problem of the BSPA recognising them. I believe we need to be radical in our outlook, but also we have to fit into the European timetable. Failing that we are doomed. Below are a few of my thoughts, that are totally focused on fitting in with our neighbours. The structure of the Leagues has to be progressional, with the Elite being the figure head, followed by the Premier then finally the National League. There will be no double ups allowed only double downs. The higher the league will always take preference. Riders will only be allow to ride for two teams. The Elite league will run on Wednesdays and Thursdays. (or any other, but specific days. Two consecutive days would be best as would assist the riders in travelling arrangements). Premier League to run on all days except those designated for the Elite. (ie: Wed and Thurs). NL to run whenever. Clubs unable to race on Elite League nights, will be destined for the Premier league, and vice visa. Elite league riders will only sign for a club when agreeing to ride each meeting. Premier league to sign riders knowing the Elite would take preference. Limit the Elite league to 8 teams, and split the home matches between the two days. Playing each team twice would result in 14 home matches and 14 away. A break to be arranged between A and B schedules, to allow for major Individual meetings, or SGP, British champion etc. etc. Elite teams to have a squad of 9 riders, playing seven each match. No guest needed and no RR’s (except in certain situations, multiple injuries. Etc.) This way we would appeal to more top riders of the world and be able to promote the sport at the top level. We can then attract more sponsors and television companies. Also, those supporters who don’t go anymore would probably come back if the product was better. Be interesting to hear your thoughts………
  15. Too bloody right it does. As far as world speedway is concerned, our league is rubbish, and when the riders can choose where to ride, we will always come bottom of the list Strange request. I would have thought it best to ask that on the Eastbourne page....... Sorry mate, ain't got a clue.......
  16. According to my records, this meeting was in the original fixture schedule from way back in November. Question need to be answered as to when was this meeting aboard was first arranged, Which meeting takes priority, How long have the clubs known about this clash, and how are the team slots going to be filled. The worse part about this, is that the public and supporters are the last to know. If that isn't contempt what is. Hope I'm wrong, but is Birmingham and Eastbourne the way this league is inevitably going ????????
  17. Obviously cause for concern. Can't imagine many takers in these dire economic times and especially in this changing face of speedway period. Could be more drastic than first thought........... Seems to me the BSPA have some hard thinking to do.......
  18. Yeah, I hear what you say, but you cant hold those two riders responsible for the inadequacies of the rest of the team.....That Buck stops with the Manager's Selections, Team Spirit and Motivation ......
  19. So it appears Andersen and MJJ will not be riding at Lynn on Wednesday's fixture. The Elite league seems to be scrapping the barrel now. Whilst these clashing of fixtures and meetings perpetrated with guest and R/R our league racing will always be regarded as second rate......
  20. Seeing how woeful the Wolves were last week, I imagine this would be a much closer affair with the Robins getting at least a point. But yet again, my predictability was way off. It seems the Robins performance was subdued and the Wolves bounced back with a vengeance. Some on here have said about proper No.1's and that Swindon don't feel they are strong in that department. With the current state of our league racing, Both Killer and Batch are top riders and could easily fill a no.1 spot. They have the ability to beat any rival, Probably their mind-set needs addressing. and that's all about motivation. But don't kid yourself they're not good enough, the showing in the SGP at the weekend proves they are.
  21. The score made this meeting interesting. I thought Poole chased hard and gated when it mattered. The track was a disgrace, with that much dust about. The crowd must go home caked in desperate need of a shower. Terrible conditions to ride in and watch. Water must be a premium down the south coast. The Ref wasn't that back and I would agree with him 2 out of the three decisions. To have a re-run when no one falls off is plain stupid. Riders touch each most starts. To collect 2 pts away to Eastbourne was a big score for Poole, considering how strong they are at home. Strange meeting as lots of riders never performed consistently. Difficult to access the chances when the Stars go there next week. I always thought this was the hardest place to go and get a result, So Poole should feel well pleased with what they achieved tonight...... Pleased that Darcy wasn't injured when he fell...
  22. I feel there are far more intelligent people then I ,making suggestions of real substance. I'm following the topic closely, hoping a solution can be found. I can't help thinking, that a place as big as Birmingham should be able to support a speedway venture in large numbers. The fact that it isn't questions need to be asked why????
  23. Topics sometimes appear slow in the postings by the home team. Not wanting to tread on others people toes, so if that be the case for me putting this on the board than I apologise. This is our second meeting in consecutive days and represents a far stiffer challenge when away from home. Looking at the form of Batch and Killer in the recent SGP they are both on fire at the moment and probably this is the wrong time to go to the Abbey. In saying that, the track holds no fear for us and we should put up a strong showing. Not a lot to choice between both 1to 5 but we are stronger in FTR positions and this might swing it our way. Prediction: Close call that will go down to the wire, Hopefully, with Stars taking the points,
  24. With ten meetings this week, those involved could make a big impression in their quest to qualify for the Play-off's The Stars are involved in 3 of those matches and this will be the first. Hopefully, both teams will at full strength and produce a close exciting meeting. Although Coventry are obviously strengthened with the inclusion of MJJ in their side, I still believe our all-round strength with prove too much for the Bees and will secure a 10 to 12 point win......
  25. I believe I am correct in saying he had a crash and was injured in Denmark Friday 20th June. Like you say, we covered his absence with a guest at Wolves on the Monday, and it was hoped he was going to be back and ride in Denmark on the Wed (25/06/14). Unfortunately the injured knee was causing massive problems and he had to withdraw from the meeting, hence a guest was booked again for Thurs (26/06/14) against Eastbourne. Although not riding, he was present at that meeting and was even involved with the team activities. even done an interview to inform the supporters how he felt.......... Why, has Lynn done wrong with that then.....!!!!! Not too worried about Kenneth, After the accident he had with Jason Dolye , it appears he is very apprehensive of other riders, and who can blame him. When he gets out in front he goes very quick, which shows he has lost none of his ability. As time goes by and he gets his confidence back , Kenneth will be alright...... In the meantime he'll keep scoring 6's and 7's which is good...
