Looking at it both teams logically: Niels V's Killer; Kenneth V's Batch; Rory V's Gustafssen; Morris V's Porsing R. Lambert V's North Kerr V's Worrall; S. Lambert V's Greaves I can see us winning those 7 individual battles 5 - 2 . But life is never that straight forward.......... I'll go for 3 pt home win...... -

Looking forward to tonight's meeting. Swindon are no mugs, and like most teams go well at the Norfolk Arena. We need to give them the respect they deserve, and not take things as easy as we sometimes do. If our riders are on their game it should be ok. but anything less than 110% and we will struggle. The Robins look like play-off contenders and will be giving it their all. We have to raise the bar and put in a performance that other teams will be made aware of. Come Play-offs, we don't want them to think the Stars are easy pickings, especially at Saddlebow Road.... -
If Darcy Ward is let off because of a Technicality, It will project the sport as a bigger joke than it already is......

Coventry Vs Kings Lynn now Sept 4th - Empty Stadium ?

All these fixture re-arranging, missing riders, there's little wonder our sport is barely surviving. I look back to the 70's and 80's now and never realised how different is was then. The British League was No1 on all riders preferences and all teams always had their first choice of riders. It is an absolute joke that clubs like Coventry, who are in the running for honours, that some of their riders are going to be missing because it clashes with other matches in other countries. In this day and age we have to have specific days for racing, as like all the other nations in Europe. They have seen the light and the advantages, of it so why can't the BSPA do the same. It would be far easier then to arrange fixtures enabling team to be at full strength, and stop this sub-standard way of promoting our sport...... Can you wonder why so many are turning their backs, with promoter HAVE to field weakened sides...... -
Monster Energy don't have control on the rules, but they supply the financial clout for the SGP series, which in due course benefits the FIM. Every decision about speedway is secretive, long winded and drawn out. Darcy should have been fined and banned on the spot say 2 months from all activities. Problem solved. He would have time to get himself and his Knee sorted and be back next year with a new manager and guardian ready to show the world what he can do. As it is, we drag on and on and on, In the end nobody give a damn......and the sport has lost the opportunity to show people of the world it is run properly. Can you imagine the situation if Lewis Hamilton turned up for a race meeting over the limit........

I always thought Rose riding in 3 leagues could come back and bite us.. I appreciate the financial implications but nobody can do that much travelling on our crap roads without it taking it's toll. It was only a matter of time before sometime like this happened. -

Appreciate your suggestion, but having travelled the British Isle extensively I've always regarded Leicester as one of the worse places to drive through. Like choosing between the devil and deep blue sea. The last time I drove through it added 24 mins to the Sat Nav ETA ( Estimated Time of Arrival ). Before the A14 was there we use to go Via Peterborough, Corby, Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Rugby coming into Brandon that way. Might try going that way again. Mind it should be OK coming home though...... -
Strange happening at Lakeside, them getting rid of Bech like that, this late in the season. Bearing in mind Ford and Cook being mates, could this open the door for a quick change of clubs in readiness for Bech in the play-offs, bearing in mind Pawlicki gone off the boil . Injured......

Actually Thursday suits us better, Will go whatever day it's on, but the roads always seem worse on a Friday afternoons, especially with those damn road-works. at the M1, M6 and A14 interchange. When will all that be finished...... Fancy having to do that every day, Drive you mad.......... -
It's amazing the improvement some riders can make when you persevere with them...............

King's Lynn V Eastbourne 22/08/14

I don't go along with all these comments about refunds just because we only had 10 heats.. Think about the other side of the coin. When meetings are cancelled at the last moment because of rain, The fans get a refund, but the promotions still had to pay out the riders fees and travelling. The trouble with some people they want their cake and eat it......... You cant have both ways........ I was just happy we got the meeting in and the 3pts....... -

Have more faith...... Quality is permanent, whereas current form is only temporary. -
Interesting reading the account in the SS today. It's so obvious Robinson has a problem with Swindon , more to the point Rosco. When a referee allows personal feelings to dictate decisions, his ability to be professional has been destroyed. He has no place left in the sport. This pathetic man, destroyed the meeting at Coventry, he obviously turned fans away from the sport, and SKY must question their presence at future meetings where he is officiating. .

Poole Vs Leicester 20/08/2014
g13webb replied to Tom Turner's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I believe any of the four riders Poole have used from the FTR List this year would have bettered themselves had they been given time to acclimatise and not had the axe threatening from day one. That's not what the FTR is all about. But from what Ford was saying, I felt sorry for SMART from day one. An old saying was, 'You reap what you sow' and in FTR terms Poole surely have.......... Edit: Cheers, Name correction. -
Shared No. 1 For 2015 El Season?
g13webb replied to pointsmeanplayoffs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Although I don't like the squad idea, I believe the system is the better than using Guest and R/R like we have now. I think the idea of Joint No 1 is a good compromise. We all appreciate the need of top riders in our league, and any help that would persuade additional top riders to race has to be considered. Probably next year we could have teams (squads) of 9 riders. 2 x No1's; 2 x FTR's; and No's 2,3,4 and ,5 , plus another standby rider with a 6pt average to cover those pre-mentioned positions. Anything that would enable to get rid of that GUEST facility has to be better than we use at present. -
God you talk some crap.. Smell the coffee....... They say there's no smoke without fire. Three times he FAILED the test. and people like you think the sun shines out of his arse.....

Not so much that we need these points, more to the point that we need to perform. To get back on to that huge pedestal we occupied at the start of the season, we now need to exert ourselves in the front of our play-off rivals. Although we beat Belle Vue away, we have lost 3 out of the last 4 matches away. We are more than capable of getting points here, but most of all we want a performance, fitting of the league champions, that we are trying to achieve. Anything less and we shall lose that momentum. -
An official statement is not required, a comment of about the Club's feelings and information would be appreciated. But as usual a Club taking the easy option. A massive cop-out. At times like these, the supporter is the last to be considered. We were once looked at as the 'Bread and Butter' of the sport, Now we're made to feel like Muck on someone's Shoe. We alright paying to come through the turnstiles, but after that we're unimportant.......
-
Of cause it makes a difference. Monster's not going to sit back, while others determine the penalty for one of their Star riders. Monster will fight his corner, and because they are the major sponsors in the BSI/ SGP they're opinion will be considered. . Same with Sky, they want riders like Darcy on the tele, so they also want him on the track. If this had happened to a normal 'run of the mill' league rider he would have been banned by now and no questioned asked. So YES, of cause it make a massive difference, Shouldn't do , but it does......
-
Probably the worst meeting shown on the tele for some while, But definitely the worst Referee. He single-handedly made it into a complete farce. He has the ability to turn away armchair viewers, as well as those true supporters who wanted to watch. He was that bad..... Looking back at all the problems the sport has endured over the last couple of weeks, we've had Ford / Morris bending the FTR rules, We've had Darcy taking the mick, Now the Ref turning a tele meeting into a farce. Hopefully soon we'll get some positive input the sport desperately needs.
-
I am in no doubt, all the wheels will be turning, and all the heads will be huddled together exploring every last possible escape plan, so Darcy can get away with a slap on the wrist and fines £5.00. We have to have Darcy riding because it's written in the SKY contract. No Darcy, No SKY. sort it.........
-
I agree with you Sydney, It's a real shame. An unbelievable talent, and a joy to watch, but he is not above the law. He has broken the rules and has to be punished in line with them rules. Yes, it may seem harsh, but so was his behaviour. He is at the top of game and professional people have to behave in a certain way. I cannot imagine another rider, who was riding in the SGP putting themselves in that situation. Whatever the reason, Darcy should have been more professional. If those migrating circumstances were that bad he should have redrawn from the meeting, before drowning his sorrows, or waited till Sunday night. He cannot justify his actions in that way. I believe this has highlighted some issues he needs to address in his private life. He not a boy any more and has to grow up. he has to be responsible for his own actions and not rely on others to direct and protect him when he so wishes. A ban may be catastrophic now for his racing career, but it may be his saviour of his future life. Lets hope he takes on board this penalty for the way it is intended, and use it to start a new beginning. Hopefully, he will get back on track and achieve the greatness he was always destined for,
-
This is a sad day for speedway, Especially British Speedway. We don't have many top riders racing here and Darcy was one of the best. Where ever he went he had the following of a Top Star. Many wanted to emulate him and follow his example. So when he does wrong like he has this weekend, he has to be punished. Not just for his wrong doing but also for the good of the sport. No way can it be seen that riders can get away with this sort of juvenile behaviour. A ban is inevitable. The length will have to take into account all the previous problems Darcy has been in, both on and off the track. Clearly he has learnt very little. Probably a lengthy spell on the side-lines will install new directives into his life and hopefully when he gets another chance of stardom he will grab it with both hands.........
-
There are posters on here who will say its a Poole thing, but you couldn't be further from the truth. We all know Darcy has immense talent, but he has no defence of a crime this bad. Bearing in mind Michael Lee got ban for 12 months for upsetting the Powers at b, a similar ban must be expected as a minimal penalty for Darcy. During which time, hopefully he will have grow up and be the Champion everyone prophesises when he come back.. Today, not only did he let the Fans down, the sponsors, his clubs, and the sport, but he also let himself down . Big time...... And Middlo, he has no excuse......
