Coventry Vs Kings Lynn now Sept 4th - Empty Stadium ?

Before I start moaning, I would like to say a big thank you to Bomber Harris for his wonderful display last night. So reminiscent of the good ole days when the like of Collins, Morton, Lee, Olsen, Penhall Nielsen all knew how to ride the Coventry track. It was also, so good to see a top rider step up to the mark and show how it should be done. What should have been an enjoyable evening quickly turned sour with a delayed start. Then that silly announcer proceeded to rubbish the Lynn management because they complained, when it was so obvious that Horton had dropped a big one. Then Havelock, had the mordacity to blame Lynn for the delay and went on about Lynn being pathetic in not allowing the Bees to field an illegible rider. Stupid little man. About time he grew-up. Don’t know why he was so worried, as with recent week we were rubbish. We offered nothing. Words fail me, in all the 49 yrs. of existents, this was probably the best chance we have ever had of winning the big one, and it started off so well. But everything we had at the start of the year has now gone. The Passion, The inspiration, the leadership, the togetherness, the desire, the domination, the laughter, the fun, the Team spirit has all gone. Why, How, Where, I don’t know. What we saw last night was a group pathetic individuals going through the motions. Not caring a damn, of the fact we were being soundly beaten by a team made up of mostly PL riders. It was embarrassing. Yesterday was quite hectic, up a 6 and on the go till 4 just to enable us the space to go to Coventry. I had planned to go to Eastbourne, Leicester and Belle Vue as well, but standing there last night I had to question my sanity. Last night was the worse Stars performance I had seen in a long time. Didn’t go a lot on some of the fans cheering when riders fell, They’re some sad people about, But well done to the team who really battled well. Especially Bomber…… -

Had this this been last month, I'd have no doubt we would have lost. Now with so many riders missing this could go either way. -

Lakeside Vs Poole 1st Sept (sky Meeting)

Good post; YES every word you say is true. . When the rain first came, the fans were considered then, but only because they didn't want to give out any re-admission tickets. But those loyal fans who stood around for ages to witness the final few heats, were not given a second thought when it became possible to call the proceeding to a halt after Ht 10. I have always gave the promoters some credit for the job they do, but talk about ' Don't kill the Goose' The 'Powers at B' are doing it with a bloody automatic shot-gun . Sometimes, it appears, they haven't got a clue........ -

We are constantly ridicules for going on about the good ole times, but what happened last night would never have happened years ago. I can remember some very important meetings continuing when it got wet. 77 World Final, and Kenny Carter British Final to name a couple. Then the riders were expected to race to the conditions. It wasn't the case of having to ride flat out, they adjusted accordingly to race in whatever the conditions were... None of this 10 heat rubbish. The rule itself, asks for controversy ...........and it never fails..... -

This sport was once called SPEEDWAY, Now it's just called 'TAKE THE PISS OUT OF THE FANS' Diabolical demonstration of inept decision making. Everything that is wrong with our sport, was on show last night... -
It was pointed out to me that Porsing's form had dipped because he's been trying out new engines and equipment. He has now decided to go back with his original bikes where he use to scored big points. Fingers crossed.......

Appreciate what you say, But until it come from Niels himself, I take all other comments with a pinch of salt. The chances are he will miss the end of the season, probably even longer. Just hoe he can make a full recovery in time..... Feel gutted for Niels, Gutted for the Stars. I always felt with Niels leading the way, we could have achieved the impossible. But now..!!!!!!!!

I 'd thought they would have had a Shave Nice to see them smiling though

Race For The Play Offs 2014
g13webb replied to Sienna Ryan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It appears fate is having a bigger input as to the winners of the league, than ever before. With a barely a couple weeks left , who knows what's going to happen. After what happened to Niels last night, the only sure thing is : 'You'll have to be in it, to Win it' It wouldn't surprise me if fate has another hand to play yet ???????? -
Race For The Play Offs 2014

When I watch MJJ, I see a class rider, who can mix it with the best. Sometimes, he's that smooth it appears he not trying. on his day he is simply awesome. definitely a world class rider. Whereby, Barker puts in the effort, looks harsh and awkward. appears to be given his all, but his results are not that impressive. If I had to choose between them, I'd take the class anytime. -

The source was a close friend of someone in the official box. I was at the meeting, and like you was puzzled when the announcement was made. But if that was the case, then it would explain everything. -

As I've been told, The race starts, Rory leads followed by North, Kildemand then Kerr. Kerr packs up 1st lap, Shortly afterwards Kildemand slows down and almost stops with the intention to turn into the centre. realising Kerr had stopped , Kildemand then resumes the race some distance adrift. but having crossed the inner line with both wheels he was excluded from that point of the race. It was only later, when the race was stopped there was then only 2 riders in the race. Rory is excluded as the cause of the stoppage, hence North awarded the 3 pts. -

I've heard it said, The reason the Ref didn't award a place to Kildemand, was that when slowly moving round the track, both his wheels crossed the inner line. Right or wrong I don't know.. But I don't agree with the comment of Swindon's bad luck, Hadn't it had been for luck, they would have been on the back of a 5-1, making them then 8pts down after heat 11.. Looking through the programme, I had that race down as a cert win for Kenneth and possibly a second for Rory. But THREE engine failures later, the Robins fortunately gained a 3-0 advantage. So as for any luck concerned, I thought Swindon had it all. In the end, that race had such a massive input as to the reason why Swindon acquired a point in the overall score. Probably, if we hadn't had those E/F's Swindon would have gone home empty handed.... -

Don't worry, I've already done that. Having witnessed every development of Michael Lee's rise to fame, when I first saw Robert Lambert ride at that tender age, my first thoughts were obviously directed to that of another Kings Lynn Superstar. First impressions were that good. Last year, he continued to impress me. That 21pt max last year was unbelievable, When he was selected in the Stars full team I thought he was ready to take on the world. But like you say, probably, I expected too much......... -

The third heat leader is without doubt the hardest position to fill. He has to race against the top rider every race. Rory is no Niels or Kenneth, but you can't knock his enthusiasm. When the chips are down Rory will stand up and be counted.. Totally agree with your last part. Rides like Kerr, Garrity, Worrall have all benefitted big time from the FTR idea and feel that lambert would probably have done better going that way. Lets not forget, he's only 16.... -
Back at the start of the year, when all talks and discussions were about the FTR's I brought up the issue of relation of average compatibility, taking into account how it would be more difficult for the top riders to maintain their current score. The riders not participating would be on a higher score than those actually riding. SKIDDER went to great length to rubbish me and what I was saying, and insinuated I was imagining problems that didn't exist ... Strange how these things turn out. It now seem everything I said has come back to haunt POOLE. It now appears both Holder and Hancock cant cover for Ward now because Darcy's average has dropped, If at the start of the year calculations been in place to alleviate the differences , then probably the pre-mentioned two could have replaced him....

Yes there are occasions when he had a good ride, and got the team out of a mess , and then I'm the first to applaud his efforts.. But tell me how many times has he score double figures this year. Porsing don't escape criticism, but it was lambert who we held in this high esteem. Looking at the other Play-off contenders you then realise just how weak our 2nd strings are..... And that's our Achilles Heel....... -

You appear to be another fan who can see no wrong in Robert Lambert. and rave about him each time he rides. But like I said I expected more from him this year. You talk about him doubling his average but he could have achieved a 6 CMA just by beating our own and the opposition FTR. That's not taking into account 2nd strings or heat leaders. The fact that his CNA is only 5.49 tell everyone he is not even achieving that. Had he rode this year as a FTR, he would have had easier opposition, rode in more races and his average would have soared. Like I say his Achilles heel is his starting. I find it difficult to understand why he is so bad. Surely when something as important as gating, he has to improve. If he could trap, I have no doubt he would double his scores with ease. I try to speak as I find. I am not blinded by the fact he's only 16 . Of cause the boy is talented, but if he can't get out of that gate then most of his potential is wasted... -

Unusual, for you but this time you are right in so much of what you say. To be honest with you I expected Lambert to have benefited much more this year than what he has actually done. Yes I have compare him to Michael lee, cos I thought he was that good. But unfortunately he is not . And don't go on about the league has changes , cos' yes, it has big time, but Lee achieved a highly creditable first years CMA of 7 half riding as a heat leaders and winning against top riders each meeting. I'm sure it would have been far more beneficial for Lambert to have had a year as FTR to find his feet. When he was elected into the team proper he was given responsibilities and expectations. It all very well chasing down opposition after missing the gate, and putting on a good show, but its points the team needs and not all this show-boating he does to the fans......I appreciate more than most he is only 16, but there is no sentiment in this game. when you go to the tapes you're the same as everyone else. . Yes he processes a lot of talent, but he must be one of the worse gaters in the league. That should have been sorted years ago....... Last night Dakota North shown how big the gulf in class of our 2nd strings are behind. . Unlike you I am prepared to stand up for what I believe in and hope for, I don't sit on the fence like you. If , in your opinion, that wrong, then fine. At least people know where they are with me. -

Big disappointment for me tonight, For the first time this season, I have to say, I don't think we are good enough to win the league. Although we have suffered a string of injuries throughout the season, I always felt come Play-offs we would have everyone fit, and chomping at the bit. But unfortunate its all drifted away. The injuries have taken their toll and some of the riders are not producing the goods any more.. The form of Dakota North and Nick Morris tonight really hit home just how weak we are in those positions, they blow our 2nd strings away. Both Porsing and Lambert performances have declined rather than improve. I've always rated Lambert, and felt he was capable of upping his average with ease. but as the season draws on, he seems little better than the person I saw last year scoring 21 pts against Stoke. in the NL. His gating is his Achilles heel. If he can't get that sorted he might as well forget it. You cant expect to score points when he continues to miss the gate. I cant remember the last race he won....... Porsing also blows hot and cold. In May I thought he had cracked it, his scores were on the up and was winning races at each meeting. But that seems along while ago. Again when did he last win a race. Our Heatleader and FTR are ok and will be there or thereabouts but it is the second strings where we are so weak, and for that reason, any thought of league success has tonight evaporated. I wouldl never advocate to drop riders and buy new ones just for success. so I would rather except now, we have given it our best shot, but it wasn't good enough..
