Can't help but feel, it's you, talking out, of where the sun don't shine. You obviously oblivious to his talent... Two meetings spring to mine, the first one Kings Lynn Vs Swindon, here he was desperate to put on a good show against his former club, and was probably too keen to impress. In the wrong places most of the time he had 3 bad crashes. All un-Janowski like..... Probably caused by being too aggressive....... The second meeting that springs to mind was Lynn Vs Poole. Here he was superb. Cool, Calculated, a real match winner. Riding Ht 15 with Niels they went from a 5-1 down to a winning 5-1 against Holder and Watts was shear poetry. Watt was easily dismissed, and Holder had no answer for the cut back and speed, generated down the start straight... No this man is really special, He even has talent coming from where the sun don't shine.................
-
Arhh, Why that??????? The lad is pure class.. It's his smoothness that makes him special. I suggest you open you eyes and see the quality he has. There are quite a few aggressive riders out there, that would love Magic's smoothness and results....... Seeing him take riders from the back with effortless speed more than makes up for any lack of aggression.

Feel this could go either way. Would obviously like to win to give us some sort of bragging rights, but realistically, who wins, means nothing, it's too early in the season to have any reference to who's the best.......... Most riders will hit the floor running, and the biggest difference will be how they perform on each track. In that scenario, It should be harder for Lynn to get a result at Poole than it will be for Poole to win at Lynn..... ...Everyone rider goes well on our track.......... Can't imagine there'll be much in it either way, The one big positive is that the Speedway should be the winner with good and exciting racing.....Weather permitting........
-
It will be of little surprise to me to see Janowski reach the top. Seeing him ride for Lynn a few years back, it was so obvious the kid had loads of natural talent. He has that ability to be so smooth and fast at the same time... What makes him a special rider is that he is so down to earth with his feet firmly on the ground. Such a pleasant and likable young man.... Was desperately hoping he would stay with Lynn, but it was not to be ....... Our lost has obviously been Poole's gain........ Couldn't believe Swindon's logic of selling him.....
-
I was both surprised and pleased with the performance of Kelvin Tatum. Obviously he wanted to contribute to his old friend Rico, and what better way then riding... They say you an never go back, but Kelvin has proved he was more then up for the task..... There's life in the Olde dog yet......... Well done mate........... Am well impressed......

That's the thing with some of the POOLE supporters, When opinions are expressed against the club, you assume this aloft attitude. The truth be known the home side are victims of the home track more than most and have lost points because of it. A good promoter would get it sorted.... So to stick up for something that damages the clubs image is beyond me......... What Pe....s me off is when stunts were pulled like making a big hole in the track just to get the match cancelled...... especially when the track is rubbish all the time....
-
If the truth be known, Most of Poole's riders have been to Lynn practising in readiness of the coming season. Holder, Watt and North were there last Friday with all the other Aussies, and Newman was there the week before..... Everyone knows how good the Lynn track is and they want to utilise the facilities on offer. No problem there, but it sure does nullify our home advantage, something that other clubs seem to enjoy as a norm....... Should we be expecting another hole to appear then
-
Nothing new there then........... Even Tatum and Pearson, both die-hard Poole Supporters referred to the track as crap, said it is the worse in the league.....

Lambert looked OK. It was noticeable he had lost a bit of weight and looked fitter. If that is an indication of his determination then that has to be a good sign. On the bike he looked his normal self, but as 'LynnBoy' commented, it is his gating that has to improve. Doubling up with Peterborough has to be a good move. Competing on different tracks, riding twice as often should bring his ability to the fore...... As been stated already, the format gives the 2nd strings an obvious advantage over the heat leaders. But for Lambert to have any chance of progressing to that status, he will have to get his gating sorted.......

There's always a big question mark over a rider when recovering from injury, but when it happens to be a top rider it's even more critical as his form and ability can only go one way...... Some take more time to recover than others, some, never manage to ever achieve the standard they once were, and others get straight back in the groove... Having watched Niels for a few years, I always believed he was one of the solid riders on the circuit and is usually in full control in the way he rides. He never endangers others, He's reliably, safe, and consistently quick. So yes, Like you I was concerned of how the layoff would effect him.... Last Wednesday's Press Day provided all the answers for me. Seeing him going full bore into the first corner, with no hint of a let off the throttle, he hit the racing line as though he had never been away.... He was obviously on the pace from the start. Watching him at Rory's do was like watching the Niels of old....... Worries over........... :t:

Early days indeed. Dak's in a catch 22 situation, If he does well and ups his average, he will then be replace by Darcy, or if he dips his form he'll be dropped any way..... We all know Poole has no allegiance to team riders...

It is never my intention to be critical or personal with people who are prepared to have a go. But like you I don't think Matt Black does anything to complement any meeting. To be a commentator is an art, and only a few people can do the job correctly. There's no need to shout in the mike it's the way things are said that generate a response. Mike Bennett was first class, and last night he was just as good. Obviously knowledge of the sport is important, but not as much as being confident in the persona that you project. You need to generate excitement with the fans with what you say and they have to relate to you and your sense of humour. You need that connection... Last night, The commentator had that connection immediately, Matt Black has been doing the job now for over a year, and as of yet, hasn't made that connection.... -

I think 'Trees' is going over board about the tractors. Obviously some days will need more grading than others, but what we saw last night, then PROBABLY then tractors are not needed so much as we are led to believe...... What I did like was the Chap standing next to the start, with earphones on, giving out orders and time control. It was he who signalled the 15 sec board, then the 5 and so on. It totally illuminated all the messing around at the gate. Another big plus that could be used in the future... Well Done Rory....... Some good ideas for future meetings -

Wow!!! What an opener......... Well done to Rory on some innovatory ideas. The commentary was the icing of the cake, that tasted good throughout. Even the SGP could take on board some of the ideas Rory showed last night.... The track was of it's usual high standard, but noticeably the tractor wasn't in use every heat. One has to ask the question, does the track need to be graded every heat. Apart from the interval we didn't see it all night, even the commentator said how good the track was riding...... It was interesting that the fastest time was the last race of the night. But no tractor helped the meeting to flow far better....... Pleasing to see most riders were over their injuries, some were obviously rusty, but you expect that......Others really shone and you wondered if they'd ever been away.... INTERESTING FOOTNOTE: Back in 1965, when Lynn held it's first ever meeting, Olle Nygren set the first Track record of 72.80 sec. Last night we saw a group of young riders giving it their all and entertaining the vast crowds......... Their time ......72.50 sec It just shows how far the sport has moved on. It difficult to imagine the Stars of yesteryear going that slow, but the times give you that comparison........ -
But that doesn't make it right. Surely the idea would be for the rules to help the struggling clubs, The teams that have good scoring riders don't need to be helped.

"That old chestnut again!" That's what I think everytime you dismiss positivity. This time, its because, Buster owns his own stadium. Probably, Just probably, If a few more of these so called top promoters took the massive step of owning their own stadium, the sport would be on a much better financial footing then what it is.. Probably, then the list wouldn't be so SHORT........... So instead of you taking the rise all the time, of people who have done well, even you would see the benefits that would be gained if other promotions done similar to what Buster has achieved.... The list of closed stadiums is endless. It is so easy to rent a place and say " Its not my responsibility, I only rent it..." That's the reason the sport is the way it is............ So Yes...... Its a BIG well done to Buster and Crew.........

I've always felt this scenario is worded wrong, and favours teams with riders who score above CMA. To illuminate this manipulation of team changing and make it more fair to all teams, any replacement of riders should be governed to the averages, the team was assembled with at the start of the season. What's the point of having a point limit to building a team, when at the first opportunity it can be abused. Surely that's not the intention of the rules ??? Teams, with riders who are finding it hard to score and their CMA is dropping, are the ones that need help and , to me it is wrong that teams are penalised by the rules, if it that means, any replacement have to be governed by a their diminishing scores instead of the ones he started with. Another loop hole filled in..........

Think a word of appreciation is due for all the work done by Buster and his crew in the off season. Each year sees added facilities to the Norfolk Arena, sorry, the Adrian Flux Arena, Last year it was a new bar/ conference/ toilets building. This year they have erected new offices on the top of the bar, complete with Patio areas for the sponsors and VIP's. Also yesterday they were installing new Turn Stile area, bringing the place up to date. The whole place looked ###### and span nice and clean, ready for the new season............ Nice to see a promoter with a pro-active approach, who is prepared to put in the work to make the visits to Saddlebow Road an enjoyable one.... Pity there weren't more like Buster......

Again, I feel we should congratulate Matt Ford, not only in finding a rigger in Gomolski, but for showing us how inapt our scoring system has become. The BSPA saw it wise to adjust the scoring of the top riders by reducing AJ average to equal top-man Neils on 9.03. What a pity they didn't deem it necessary to do the same with the lower end. To allow a Top World u21 rider to come in on a 2 yr old average of 3.94 is ludicrous. Especially with this easier new format, seconds strings are guaranteed a min of 5, Gomolski, will have a field day. People on here, especially those Poole fans, will say 'that what make a good Manager'. probably so. But it does nothing for the ailing sport of our speedway. Like I have preached before, The victors should be rewarded for the merits shown on the track, not which Manager can find the biggest hole in the promotions colander...... There were some of us on here who voiced concerns about the implications our new format would create. What a pity the BSPA didn't listen then. One has to feel sorry for Coventry, in that Jamrog was accessed on 5.5. That is completely opposite to the thinking of using averages 2 yrs. adrift. If I were them I'd ask for a refund... But like I say, well done to Matt Ford.

Each year I have this optimism that the racing will be that good, the teams to be that close, that every match will be of the highest entertainment and that enthusiasm will encourage supporters to tell all their friends and family and before we know it the crowds will come gate crashing back. I appreciate there are only 8 teams in the league this year, but that should generate a higher quality of performance. Looking at the expected teams and the new format to be used, I would like to think each and everyone will have a shout of winning any match...... Sure people have come on here and forecast favourites and wooden spoonists, but since when has a season followed the projected route. You only have to look back to last year when Lynn were light years ahead of everyone, when all of a sudden, things go against you. What's to say that won't happen again this year..... Looking at it from the play-off's prospective, because they're only 8 teams, half of them will reach those play-off's whence anything can happen. There will not be many teams who finish the season with the same team they started with, so to discount some at this early stage is foolish. Sure, on the face of it some look stronger than others, but that means little at this stage. Hoping this will be a successful season, not only for Kings Lynn but for the Elite League in general . Each match to finish relatively close, with little or no injuries. All team to be within a shout of the play-offs until the very end... And the winner to be the team that wins on merit and not by some stoke of luck, or a bending of the rules, or an vastly inaccurate assessment of a class rider....... Let it be done right, so the winner can be rightfully acclaimed..........

Awesome choice... He brings back the fun into the commentary. .

Sorry to have a nose at a thread clearly aimed at ones own fans. And I thought supporters were allow to read all threads. Silly me........

If the truth be known, SKIDDER knows as much as everybody else........ No More .........No less..........

I know time has a way of distorting things, but the impression it made on me has never diminished in all those years. Only a young boy, when I accompanied my Dad whenever he went. Real motor-bike nut my dad, he would go to all forms of racing. Scrambles and Moto Cross was always high on the agenda, but if a week went past and no scramble close by, then we would always go to the Firs to get our weekly dose of Castrol R.... Massive place, the crowds would flock to any vantage point. The noise, was deafening. Pat Boon singing 'Love letters in the sand' was the only record I can remember, It seemed to be always playing. I think the Norwich Stars usually won, and Ove Fundin was rarely beaten. My dad use to hang back at the end to let the crowd disperse. Remember going through the pits and seeing an old Aub Lawson and a young Terry Betts. Wonderful times...... Sure was a sad day when the Stadium closed. but fortunately speedway started up at Lynn after a 3 yr gap, I was one of the first through the door...... Would love a quid for every meeting I've been too................ Footnote: Following Scrambles like we did, we witnessed the exploits of Andy Lee from an early age. Have in my procession cine film of Andy Lee winning the Cambridge Grand National at Elsworth in the early 60's Standing long side at the presentations is Andy's wife, Valerie, holding a little 1yr old boy.......... Michael Lee.. Strange, that years later, he was to grace the sport I came to love.......
