Who are the future stars of British Speedway?
secsy1 replied to Falcon1983's topic in National League Speedway
With the plethora of talent emerging through The British Youth System, it appears you must not follow it. With all due respect to so many emerging riders, they do not require any burden imposed upon them by naming them. The press are always there to build up budding stars and then demolish and demoralise them. Just look on this forum how easily riders, promoters, authorities, etc are criticised and demoralised by spurious comments. -
This is the PROBLEM, pure negativity in every topic on THE BRITISH SPEEDWAY FORUM !!!!!!!!! Everyone just pulls it down and slates it !!!!!!!! WELL BELIEVE IT OR NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE BELIEVE IN IT. My parents always told me, if you have something to say, say it, but be objective and offer a potential solution. Until all the negativity from so called fans is eradicated, or as your post states put to sleep. How can it move forward.
-
No disrespect to either of the above posts, but its not about you enjoying it live (As we all do) But it is at this time, airing it to a newer, wider audience and capturing their imagination as to what it would be like attending a live meeting. This is why it does not move forward to new audiences, as long as it suits me I don't care!!!!!!!!!!

It does not make good viewing as it is not presented well. Take last nights great play off between Somerset and Scunthorpe, brilliant racing, intriguing and commentator naming wrong riders. A fantastic set of meetings from the past. Both meetings could have had the commentary dubbed over and presented better. Goodness knows there is time to do it and present the product to a TV company for national airing, not just to the converted. As you mention it needs a revamp and there is plenty of time on peoples hands to look and do now. Forget about footage in BBC or ITV archives, their is as I mentioned previously loads of existing footage from Tapes Up, Speedway Portal that can be forwarded to respective TV companies for airing. No one is looking outside the box and continually blinkered going down a one way alley with negativity beyond redemption. Lets wake the world outside Speedway to our great sport and forget about banging on to the converted.

With the current plethora of speedway being made available to the converted and present speedway fans I feel an opportunity for a wider audience is available. Both BBC and ITV have made it clear that to delve into their vast sporting archives is presently difficult and are limited to what they have available to screen. Over the past few Saturdays historic Rugby League, Football and various other sports have been screened at peak viewing hours. Is it not possible for any of the present organisations screening weekly speedway matches to offer the footage to them or even Free Sports for airing? If children can upload footage of their football skills on a Friday and have it screened on Saturdays Football Focus, surely anything to promote to a wider audience is possible. Prior to the screening of Glasgow `In the Red` documentary I contacted several friends who don't follow speedway and informed them to watch it. Being a speedway fan and advocate, I was surprised by 2 phone calls informing they switched it off within 15 minutes and why did I recommend it! I was told it was not informative or intriguing viewing and I was told to watch SUNDERLAND TILL I DIE SEASON 2 Wow what an insight, yes its not SPEEDWAY but it just shows the determination to get things done and change for the better. Maybe some Promoters/Owners need to take a leaf out of Glasgow`s forward thinking or even watch the Sunderland documentary to see and deal with reality. The point being made is that preaching only to the converted does not expand or grow Speedway!!!!

For me personally it was great and well worth the watch and credit to all involved, at least some people are trying to promote instead of knock it continually from within. Will British Speedway Survive ?
secsy1 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
British speedway can survive and actually prosper after this despicable virus is contained. A radical approach to ensure every single club can have top quality meetings, increased attendances with top stars riding at each track. This would mean for this season a complete format change to all league structures for this season only. With 7 Premier League teams, 12 Championship teams and 3 stand alone National League teams. 22 teams competing in a structured 4TT format with every team visiting each other. This can happen with riders evenly distributed to teams regarding averages and present team signing prfrences etc. Racing format and fixtures are easily compiled, but this is totally RADICAL, but possible. Just imagine Nicki Pederson and Jason Crump visiting the likes of Kent, Mildenhall and Edinburgh. Block buster fixtures and a sure draw for spectators at every track. But wait we live in the real world and who would want something revolutionary that would actually benefit everyone in the sport? -
Just seen Kevin Jolly has plans for Rye House for entry into NDL for 2020, any views on this. Think it would be great.

Kent v belle vue play off semi 2nd leg tonight
secsy1 replied to ruckerroo's topic in National League Speedway
Being not a Kent or a Belle Vue supporter I look at the reality of the meeting.. 1. I was there 2. Started no problem. 3. Conditions deteriated. 4. All okay with that. 5. Referee asked to look at track, answer no its okay. 6. Referee asked to look at visibility, looks okay from here! 7. Take a look again, WHY. I have no interest in the result which happened, BUT If any rider from either team had occasion to have injury the referee was culpable due to negligence -

secsy1 replied to ruckerroo's topic in National League Speedway
Forget the result as it is meaningless. The main factor is that all the riders were able to walk away relatively unscathed. How the meeting referee is allowed to officiate anywhere is incredulous. No desire to leave his warm, dry and cosy box to inspect the track at any time, although requested numerous times. It is a thankless job refereeing any sport as you will never get it right for either set of supporter's, but when you take into consideration the referee is also responsible for the riders safety. Then a good hard look in the mirror is necessary and ask oneself would you have ridden in the prevailing conditions? (Even if it looks okay from the box your sat in) -
The continuing decline of Speedway
secsy1 replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well isn't that fine and dandy, HOW WE WANT THEM!!!! Funny how a football team who were once highly ranked and supported had a board decide to rebrand and change a logo>>>>>> The fans rose up and the board reverted back. Sometimes change is good but you must take notice of what the public WANT and not what you THINK they want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
World Championship Pairs
secsy1 replied to Mark's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just shows by not having a mandatory 3 riders per team has affected the results and winners penalised -
World Championship Pairs
secsy1 replied to Mark's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Although teams can name a U21 rider, who can be used at anytime it is not mandatory to have one. With this in place many heats in both race off`s will end up with only 3 riders. USA, Ukraine, Finland and Italy have only 2 named riders. With no back up they will undoubtedly all at some stage be reduced to 1 rider heat representation. Not value for money and an ill conceived format and ridiculous rules. No need to drop the World Cup for this farcical event. -
Neil Vatcher doing a great job.
secsy1 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Didn`t Craig Cook, Steve and Ritchie Worrall all start in the National League?? Have they not all attained well deserved achievement's? Personally they are all exceptional and continue to excel. -
It is always easy to criticise after an event or non event, but lets be constructive here to stop this happening again. A new rule or appendix needs adding to the Stadium and Track Standards for 2018 Speedway Regulations by the SCB as soon as possible. 1. As soon as arrived, both Teams and Managers to do independent track walks and raise concerns, if any. 2. Minimum 1 Hour prior to the programmed start time, a meeting between Referee, Team Managers and Team Captains must take place to consider all track and safety concerns raised. 3. If possible address any issues, but if it is not possible cancel immediately. 4. Refund admission to anyone who requests it. Not rocket science any of it, but keeping the paying public happy is the main criteria.
-
2 riders this season have already had to serve bans for withholding their services, this has to happen to several riders for the best interests of the sport to prevail. If everything regarding track preparation was unsatisfactory, why did the meeting start? If the track deteriorated so badly, why did all the riders not refuse to ride? Too many questions without meaningful answer will arise, but the riders get paid for doing a job as dangerous as it is. It is their choice to be riders and earn a living in the way they do, but the public pay for entertainment which unfortunately they rarely get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Batchelor pulled over to achieve the Joker neither of them mentioned a thing, fact. Until prompted and a referee requested play back immediately, only then did they start to be objective. Later comments about Russia being potentially throw out for Laguta`s misdemeanors was only conjecture by them and nobody else! If that was ever going to happen they would not have been riding last night. Biased to the end, both of them until they are pulled on it.

The Tapes & Unsatisfactory Starts
secsy1 replied to Shockster's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Anyone who watched the meeting at Vastervik last night and the referees decisions would have been shocked if it was a Premier ,Championship or National League meeting and same decisions. but what a great meeting and just getting on with racing. commendable refereeing in my opinion. -
Until the B.S.P.A. and S.C.B have a independent adviser who they listen to, nothing will ever change. The re branding into Premier, Championship leagues has achieved diddly squat. It has caused more confusion for a dwindling audience and those who visit occasionally. To change a couple of logos and the ooh, ha regarding it has achieved nothing.. When a Company goes Bankrupt and a Independent Liquidator comes in he has to get the best deal for all the Creditors from a bad situation. Is it not understood that if a Independent Body or Adviser would want the best for Speedway. Salary/payment should be a results related payment only. Whether or not 1 League with 18 teams and 15 heats, 7 riders is a viable option is debatable. Options are out their, but lets keep our heads in the sand and lose more teams and supporters.

For many years particular clubs have fielded an experienced rider to help and encourage junior riders in their respective teams. This is highly commendable and has helped many junior riders to progress through the ranks. Unfortunately at some points certain clubs have not been able to include a senior/experienced rider due to politics. An attitude of we will do it when it suits Us (Cos we can) seems to have been adopted. At the beginning of the season several names were linked with various clubs, but all excluded for various reasons. (We will do what we want cos we can brigade) Maybe I have missed a topic? Paul Hurry at Lakeside, not seen anyone moaning?

We are Riders And ride when we want. Sod the paying public We are in charge Don`t give a hoot Care not for you Want your money Screw all of you. Well that is it and why Speedway is doomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
secsy1 replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Think that anyone who retires has specific reasons/circumstances behind them, so the only joke is upon a poor poster with negativity behind them!!!! -
Will the advent of re-branding really make any difference and will this forum soon embrace it and change the listings also?
-
Lets hope that with the experience/expensive team so far that no one gets carried away and expects a title at this early stage of team building. The challenge/change of venues for the riders will be a ultimate test and hopefully they do not flatter to deceive.
