  1. when you talk about riding one of them then that's an exception!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Well even before the final I must take exception to the commentary of Jack whoever. Don't get me wrong, it is superb that the coverage is given, but who is this sexist? Continually giving sexist comments about the start girls and giving commentary on a different race that is going on, don't start on the knowledge reference also. Anyone who ever complained about Skysports presenters or commentary must be livid about this person. Incidentally the racing was poor and very little passing, much gate and go and occasional mistake by trying too hard by several riders.
  3. Personally I think this type of thread is unwarranted. Unfortunately every rider has there fair share of spills for one reason or another and some come of worse than others, for any of the forum members to speculate as to why is ridiculous. Think about what you are asking regarding why they fall off and some of the terrible scenarios that befall the riders when they do. I should not need to expand further and will not.
  4. Lets not down play the fixture that you assume would be poorly attended, Birmingham Brummies v Stoke Potters . This fixture would possibly be one of the best attended meetings of the season purely for the novelty factor Many people on the forum actually prefer National League racing to Elite and I for one would be there. Dont knock it as with any speedway rule change that comes from the jokers conference or is it conference of jokers anything is possible.
  5. With the silly system of play offs and choosing who you want to ride against, it suddenly occured to me that another silly sport also has a very similar silly system. Is it possible that the BSPA and the RFL are one and the same, are they linked to each other like Siamese twins? Silly rule changes year in year out, double up riders mascerading as dual registration players, rule changes half way through the season to suit who should be doing well and who isnt and a end of season Grand final which ensures maximum television coverage and the teams nominated by a certain television company who are made sure they get them in the final. Funny how both leagues are covered by Sky and veiwing and interest figures waning.
  6. This could be a saviour for both Rugby and Speedway clubs if they worked together on marketing the products together. Nothing to stop a bonus ticket for a 3pm Eagles sunday afternoon kick off, with the Tigers on track at 5pm. I know many rugby fans that follow speedway and the novelty of a sunday experience that can offer both would be special.
  7. Seems like the Algerian sun has boiled a brain cell or two, judging by the title and first post If you are a Berwick Bandits fan and attend most matches then you should know a thing or two about whats happened at your club Several teams have had the type of season you acclaim to be having and the majority are down to injurys. Sheffield have been cursed by this scenario, but they just get on with it and a fan rant or three and no its not over, they go on and on and on, just like a lot do on here No one can for tell what type of season is going to unfold for any club, they can only build a team to ther purse strings and rider availability. Track preparation is paramount, but the weather throws all types of problems at the preparation on an hourly basis(few fans if any dont have a clue regarding track preparation) and it is just as frustrating for the track staff as it is for the riders and fans when track conditions deteriorate quickly. Berwick is by far one of the best set ups I have ever visited, the welcome by all is fantastic and for one of the biggest tracks remaining it is always a pleasure to watch the racing and have a laugh with friends. Dont be dis heartened, when the sun tan and holiday blues have left Berwick Bandits will still be there. Be thankful as a lot of fans dont have a team, track or promotion to moan about and you do
  8. Could this ever happen in Speedway, its a great story and should be read. Its every fans dream. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/sep/05/harry-redknapp-played-fan-west-ham
  9. Below, Courtesy of Speedway Updates is my only source of the actual event that saw poor Lewis requiring medical treatment. Get well soon Lewi and lets see you on the track as soon as possible as you have come on leaps and bounds. That said a rule I have been told of this year is that if any accident occurs, only the team manager, mechanic and team captain can visit the incident. I will stand corrected on this and hope any one with more knowledge will provide details. Would this not firstly put in place why Robert could not actually see how Lewis was? A point that I have raised with friends on more than one occasion is why are so many non participating riders allowed in the pits? Was Lewis Bridger mechanic for Lewis Rose? If not are all close friends of any rider allowed in the pits, this will be great for me as I will be allowed in every pits on the globe from now on If Lewis Bridger did assault Robert Lambert then he must be dealt with harshley, I have no axe to grind with Lewis Bridger but we have to remove this disgusting behaviour from speedway, it is after all a family sport. Last word for Lewis Rose, once again get well soon. Heat 10: Worrall, Lambert, Priest, Rose (FX) 2-4 38-21 Line Up: Lambert, Rose, Worrall, Priest Comments: Lambert forced out wide in the 1st turn due to not making the gate and almost comes off by clipping the fence. Very unusual for him. Lambert gets pass Priest lap 2. Rose moves out appearing to try and let Lambert past during lap 3 but Rose comes off on bend 4 lap 3. Being seen to by medics now. 10. On many threads the term wobbler is used. Many people complain about wobblers and say they should not have to pay to watch meaningless races that have wobblers in them. Can the term wobbler be justified and who are they? Be carefull as all the so called wobblers have to start somewhere and are not worthy of the vitriolic retoric that is placed on them.
  11. Having a a top heavily paid and average No.1 does not help when team building. It does not allow finances for mainstream tried and tested riders who demand more than a few young Aussie kids who will manage on less to try to make that break. Afternoon speedway in the UK when the sun actually shines is a no goer. Dont matter how often its watered, it drys and conditions for the riders are awkward. Early evening 6.00 is a good time or standard evening racing 7.30, track staff can deal with conditions easier as the sun goes down, unless your at Buxton waiting for it to come up! Hope Harley is okay, bright young prospect in a gloomy Glasgow season.
  12. Typical response from a head in the sand protagonist against new talent. The riders at Kent are not trainees. As for following speedway, with fans like you I am not suprised that English lads give up early due to uneccesary criticism. I will not post further on this topic and will not be bated. Come on Kent Kings.
  13. Well it seems you are out of touch with how riders progress these days, but not a lot of difference from your yardstick exists with the current crop of Kent Kings. Basically they stuggle to buy a bike and rely on parents and friends to chip in and help. Visit various training schools country wide learnings and gaining experience at great expense. Possibly they enter junior or amatuer meetings building their skill level and spending more money. If they are lucky, possibly they get an opportunity to ride in SJL, MDL or AJL meetings for free and spending a lot more money. Next they are chosen and have the opportunity to ride at National League level and are a bit overawed initially by the experience and settle down and become the riders on the way to Premier level and even Elite League racing. These are the bread and butter riders, but we do have exceptions with a special given talent who move from basics to top in a couple of seasons. Hope this puts to bed your current misconceptions about todays speedway and to everyone who pays to go to National League Speedway it is true honest lads trying their best. Good luck to all at Kent Kings Speedway for giving the youngsters opportunities, you will benefit in the long run. To all you WHINERS give it a rest or better still get down there and see some speedway.
  14. It does not matter if the racing was ppor or the line up below par!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A British Rider Won and period. Everyone only wants to knock the stuffing out of British Speedway and here we are the first British winner for time and a day and still the same!!!!!!!! Superb Tai, the prats will only be happy when you tell them you are Australian and they told you so. Your Dad will be so proud of you and steering you to this years GP overall winner.
  15. So its simple in terms of business eh, get a grip. What you are intimating is that if Benji does not perform in 7 rides he also will be out of work? Realism is that the management bottled it. Every new fan who went will be dumbfounded at the decision, but eh Di Matteo was booted out for failing. Ahhhhhh but the owner is a billionaire and not adverse to throwing his toys out and getting his own way. Good luck Benji, hope you do well and David, with contacts like the ones who sold you out you know what to do!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Rugby League changed to summer to try to improve on crowds and not compete with football, but its gone backwards over the last few years. It still goes by the its a summer rugby but thats utter rubbish. Football wants a break in winter as its too cold, meaning the season will encroach on summer. Speedway is traditionally a type of good weather sport, but we dont have that much good weather. Bottom line is 30 years ago we had summer, autumn, winter and spring. The climate has changed and anyone who thinks it hasnt only has to look over the last 5 years. Probably a lot will think that a season from end of April to early September is far too short, but if restructuring and business sense was applied it would be sound business sense. B
  17. Here is the apathy of British speedway. Everyone moans, groans and shouts about opportunitys for riders and here we have a prime example that no one cares enough to report about it when they do. Hope every rider did well, learned something and left the meeting as they arrived
  18. Both rider and management here now have points to prove. 2 rides to get a team place, well good luck in the real world and on those results in the dream world will be world champion after dozen meetings. Management have to be comended on their persistance, they got a World Champion in their eyes. Hope the happy marriage bears fruit and both have a great season.
  19. Why not keep this as a totally British rider championship. Give the lads a chance, instead of paying over the odds appearance money for some over the top riders on a meal ticket. Enough of them in the Elite at present who dont care about anyone but themselves. This is an ideal opportunity to bring through the British talent and let the fans see them, associate with them and get behind them.
  20. Basically all sports are forms of entertainment. Irrespective of 2 or 4 valves, laydowns or uprights, racing is racing. From the late 20s through to now, every decade it has been reported that speedway is in decline or dying. But it is still here irrespective of the format. Personally the main problem at the present is the presentation and continuity of the meetings. Many new people who are introduced to the sport dont care about the silly rules, but are intoxicated by the sight of 4 riders displaying fearless skills to win races. Last year on several occasions I introduced first timers to the sport and goodness me they still go. But as they began to grasp the silly rules and time delays between racers their disillusion became apparent, but the spectacle of the racing presently maintains their interest that they still go.............but for how long?
  21. Well if it is a full house of spectators required, only one team fits the bill to bring the most and the controversy that will follow the meeting...............DUDLEY.
  22. Last Saturday afternoon Workington AFC played away at Brackley in the Blue Square North Football League, Saturday night Workington Comets rode against Glasgow and Sunday afternoon Workington Town RLFC played an elimination match against bitter rivals Whitehaven RLFC. Anyone who thinks the combined 3 did not affect the attendance on Saturday night is a fool. In the present economic climate punters pick and chose where they want to spend there hard earned cash and value for money entertainment. Some will pay over the odds for the Speedway fix, but others want to be entertained and a sense of value for money. Never one to critisize promoters as they try the best (for themselves, it is a business to them) but until they all realise as many say that the Sport needs a COMPLETE OVERHAUL and knuckle down to dealing with it instead of continually burying their heads in the sand, then next season will see only a handful of clubs in 1 league and even fewer supporters.
  23. Common Sense and Speedway are so distant, that is the reason why so many fans have given up on the sport. As for Mr.Morrish, he and certain promoters dictate what happens, now that is common sense or is it knowledge?
  24. Isle of Wight Islanders 47 Danny Warwick 13 Paul Starke 11+1 Ben Hopwood 9+2 Danny Stoneman 7+2 Steven Jones 6+2 Ross Walter 1 Mark Baseby R/R Stoke Potters 43 Ashley Birks 12 Tony Atkin 11 James Cockle 7 Jack Kingston 4+3 Ben Reade 4+1 Liam Rumsey 3 Richard Andrews 2
  25. Well if you read the article where it states 'Impossible situation' From next year the museum will also lose a £70,000 a year grant from Dudley Council. The council made the decision to withdraw funding in March because it needs to save £13m from its own budget. So if Dudley Heathens `were` looking for any type funding through the Council towards a Stadium it looks like the budget could affect them?
