  1. Right and be also rans for ever! you are deluded those nations you have named have not always been powerhouses have they? it takes hard work why can't we be again again it won't happen overnight but at least try though could i care less if we beat the USA and Latvia no.
  2. I was there i liked all of the Americans so i never took alot of notice but it was a disgraceful act you would not believe that a PC or Lee would let anybody through.
  3. Spot on Starman, i predict it is a minimum of a 5 or a 10 year plan, even then i am not confident. We are light years behind is fifth good anough i would rather have a bit of doom and gloom but improve over a period of time once Rossiters honeymoon period is over will he make that much difference motivation skills take you only so far. So right Colin, since say 1970/ 83 riders England have had at our disposal E Boocock. N.Boocock P. Collins N.Collins Phil Collins, Louis, Ray Wilson, Reg Wilson, Simmons,Ashby,Wyer, Haley, Pratt, Younghusband, Kilby, Lee,Jessup,Davey, Carter,Cartwright, Pusey, Wilkinson,Davis, got to be a few i have missed as well.
  4. Yes WK at the time we took those quality riders for granted, over a period we had PC, Lee,Simmons,Betts, Wilson, both Boocock,s Ashby ,Louis, Kennett, Mort, and even riders later on like Wyer Davis, Cartwright (ex) were very good riders also.
  5. Dont agree at all, blending the youngsters in amongst Tai learning listening has to be the way to go.Ok would you do the same old same old,? beat say the USA is your BRIEF to Rosco go and be fifth. Also the PL is not an easy place to ride ask Doyle, Bech, Cook Cook is a fine example this lad is ambitious but to get a place abroad is not easy.Is Doyle not ambitious?he still rides PL he has improved no end have a longterm vision i recon be prepared to have a bit of short term hurt to improve overall in the future.
  6. The likes of Kennett,Bridger, King,Barker(ect) are they world class in your opinion?.When you compare the likes of MJJ, Bech, both Pawlicki brothers Dudek just a few examples we are light years behind. The worrying thing is i would not pick any of the old guard just to get short term results Tai and Cook would be my only certain starters, for me it will be interesting the way Rossiter goes about thing,s.
  7. RIght we had plenty to choose from is that right?
  8. A team consisting of say? Tai, Cook,Harris,KIng i wouldn't exspect to much from that side.Again results for me are not that important anyway, ok we come fifth so what it is how we try to bridge the gap and bring riders through. Most people would say Rossiters strength is his motivation skills that i am afraid will only take him so far.Forget about winning we need to find a way of bringing riders through who can compete on the world stage easier said than done.
  9. Are you that dumb to think that is a certainty? Should it be a certainty? do you believe you have to just turn up and beat these teams. It is not a Devine right of ours to presume we will do so.
  10. How many haven't you seen Sam ? you really know your stuff odviously Duggan like me the great Craven and maybe Ove Fundin.? Fundin, Knutsson and Craven are the few world class stars i did not see ever ride since 1965 saying that there were a few i didn't ever see live who were class riders like Harrefeld, Nordin and Pander and the class Russian Plechonov.
  11. And as i know you were a big supporter of the one off final, when it went do you think that had an affect?.I will concede that the GP series is decent i enjoy it but has it improved thing,s no it has buggered our league set up no doubt about it.The PL have nearly got thing,s right a good product i enjoy it and thing,s at that level should be fine in the future. The EL has alot to do in my book, overall the racing is not great the same old tracks no variation also this year with the NL riders it is a massive call.I hope it works out though with a few young Brits getting a chance and improving but is the EL a 17 quid night out now.?
  12. Went to the Daily mirror individual meeting, the surface was sand based riders that day had big problems.
  13. When Bruce retired the sport seemed to be in reasonable shape, but once he retired the sport seemed to go into a downward spiral. The sport then lost alot of its superstars all within the same time span which did not help.Alot of people have there view on Bruce, i thought he was awesome for the sport and it was a massive loss when he quit.I often wonder would Hans and Erik have ever of won 7 titles between them with Bruce still about.? Maybe the sport was already being dragged down before he quit, but this is the point i believe the decline really set in.
  14. I am the same "Steve if people don't get excited watching him ride then they might as well give up.If everything clicks for him and has a bit of luck along the way he has every chance.Puk is the one that has impressed me,always have rated him ever since his Newport days is dedicated really has worked at it and i would be very happy if he made it to be WC one day.
  15. Has to be the weakest team assembled,? anyway good luck to all the Brum fans .A great lot met a few on there visits to the Abbey a great crack loved there speedway.
  16. My take on it ER,is that we have to except where we are at the moment but it is how we go about trying to improve things that is the most important thing. And beating Latvia is that a gimme? not anymore i am afraid.
  17. The difference is you can have a adult debate with GRW , we don't always agree but the respect is there and the debate is fun you should try it sometime.
  18. I don't see us being an odvious 5th now, our pool of riders 'Gavan''are pretty thin on the ground you have to admit that.I just hope we have a system and long term vision to try to get riders through the system it is a long hard road back i am afraid.Lambert is the one we all have high hopes for, i just hope not to much pressure is put on him.Would having two Brits at reserve in the PL help? i believe it would be a step in the right direction get rid of the Edberg type riders and a give a couple of Young Brits extended team places.
  19. He made mistakes of course, like all of us in life but his CV is pretty impressive also i have never found Neil to be a Braggart in victory again good luck to Rosco.
  20. I really only went to White City for individual and World Cup events, so never really see league racing there when Kennett was in his prime.A great size and shape and was often slick there but there was some entertaining racing produced.
  21. A thankless task as Middlo found out, a bit of a poisoned chalice to be honest good luck to Alun in the job though.Just hope we dont worry to much about the short term results but do everything in our power to help the likes of Lambert and Ellis ( ect)
  22. I have missed one home meeting in about five years that i think was against Somerset in a challenge have only been to a few away i am not interested as some of the EL tracks are not my cup of tea.I have seen plenty of Ward live to have a OPINION a word you have never grasped do us a favour go and take a chill pill.!
  23. I have always liked the bloke, enjoyed watching him ride was Poole through and through.I know through an old rider what a decent guy he is good fun to be around and he is well respected by the riders.Ok he has made mistakes haven't we all? we all know how easy it is to react to nasty comments so i would say give Neil a break move on to some other victim.
  24. What from your armchair? you were talking about Woffinden and Ward which is fine then decide to have a pop at me for whatever reason. All i said was how many live meetings have you been to? in the last two years your best bet is stick to the debate give your OPINION and move on.
