I have felt he has been capable of this for quite a while, the ability has always been there.Always seemed to be second fiddle to Holder at times but he has shown us the Robins fans at times glimpses of brilliance fair play to Troy whatever else happens tonight. -
Wouldn't it be great if Robert was involved in the WTC,i hope so it would be great experience for him i actually would have him in the starting line up.Also if he was involved who knows it could help the gate? local interest.I can remember when I first see Michael Lee ride in the big individual meeting the SILVER PLUME aged 16/17? he scored ten points he did generate alot of interest and put extra on the gate.

No for me Steve ,i think one big league has to happen soon.
-
Steve those days are gone even if say another 5 world class riders rode over here it is not viable these riders are on serious money the gates do not balance the books the EL is knackered it needs revamping.

Yes his wife Bonnie did loads,as a couple they really did a great job over a long period terrific proper speedway people.

Swindon Robins V Coventry Bees 26th June 2014
stratton replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wright has to be the most improved rider in Britain over the last two years pleased for Charles all the hard work is paying off. -
Is that WK because of the way the averages are done now?( ie) bonus points (ect) i am sure Bewitcher, Oldace,( ect) will tell us because they have in the past been right and myself i have been nieve with the averages. But WK you are correct the riders then there was more strength in depth someone like Chris Pusey, Bob Kilby, Soren Sjosten a few examples were sometimes only heatleaders that tells me alot would they be no1s now?. Matt touch wood that will be you one day mind you how old are you 60.? only joking! surely all age groups are welcome?

I was just wondering how is Eric Boothroyd? a superb speedway man i was looking through all my Halifax stuff what a legend .A rider, a manager, a promoter for me he is Mr Halifax along with Booey of course i hope Eric is well you don't make them like that anymore.

I think some of the top stars today were certainly as good as the top boys then, but the quantity of those are nowhere near as many as yesteryear.

Worrall i am a fan, but he has been poor in both leagues for me Lambert over him at Lynn all day long and Cook i like also his record at Saddlebow is pretty average. -

Nicki Pedersen. Mbe ?
stratton replied to Super Blue's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
His statement is laughable,if someone like Hancock moans then you know there must be a problem.Out of say 100 incidents i bet Pedersen is involved in 60 per cent of them there has to be a reason for this?He should of just opologised about Saturday and moved on now he is a marked man and the bully has been exposed. -
He probably wanted to say this yonks ago, Pedersen has got away with murder for years. From now on hopefully the GP riders will be looking for him i hope so what comes around! Plus i would not think Scott would loose any sleep worrying about Pedersen, far from it last Saturday he looked a sad figure s... himself a glorified bully.

How Many Of Us Were Wrong About Tai.?
stratton replied to stratton's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Send him to a fete, the young generation would love it,! i think he keeps speedway at least with the other fashions and sport. But he can back it up on the track i am a bit of a old fart but it is great that Wooffy can identify with the young generation they hopefully will be the future fans of our sport. -

Great post his dad was an exciting rider, and yes he would be proud of his lad a great ambassador for our sport as well. -
He could of broke both of Zagar's legs did you forget that? With Pedersen there has been numerous incidents over the years and he is still there with that big smug grin!I don't think he would of had that grin, over the years with the likes of Gresham,Millen,Browning,Clarke,Argall,Templeton,J.Beaton,Broadbanks,(ect)

I would not get rid of anyone to keep Klindt, he is decent but he is one of the most frustrating riders i have seen in the last 5 years. If Mellgren comes back to a decent level, i am sure Auty, Birks,Jorgensen will improve i would stick to that line up.
-
After this weekend i had to reflect on how wrong i have been about Tai,i have always thought Tai was a very talented rider but the last two years his progress and momentum has been staggering. He deserves everything he gets and the frightening thing is how many championships can he win? he could be in the mix for the next decade if he wants to.Have to say that the win in the Final on Saturday was one of the best rides i have ever seen i was wrong i just wonder how many of you were wrong as well?.I have had a bet on Ward/ Puk against the field in the WC but i hope Tai retains the title.

Sheffield V Scunthorpe Pl 12/6/14
stratton replied to montie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I loved the days of a regular 1 to.7 , the fans could identify with them and would often have a favourite.Having 4 or 5 pointers in the team who were a valuable member of the team was great and they usually stayed for a long time. When i first went Briggo was the star but i loved watching Clive Hitch he was no star but loyal and exciting to watch. We have lost that a bit now, that is why I was so disappointed that Birmingham did not win the league last year they morally did for me turning up with a regular 1 to 7. -
