King's Lynn V Poole Pirates Mon 29th
stratton replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I really like both riders i think Kyle is a fine example of keep working hard and the rewards will come.He has paid his dues gained exsperience through the levels and he has made progress. What I like about him is that he has a fine riding style neat and tidy his next step is to be a regular top five rider.Kerr last night rode his socks off for scant reward, he has impressed me alot what was strange last night is that he could not get off the start usually he is a great starter. The two named have had great seasons and Sarjeant is another who has made giant strides in his career. -

Well done to Poole and to the track staff to get the meeting on, Janowski has really upped his game the last few months and all of us knew the talent was always there. Can he push for a top eight finish?i think so some of the tracks will suit and he has good aquipment. At a lower level no one has really mentioned Simon Lambert the last few times i have seen him he has really improved mixing it can he move on another step in his progress.? -

Aquipment has always been important in any era, Tai has he prioritised other leagues never bothered me he only averaged 7.50 plus in our Micky mouse league pocket money for him and for me i would jack it in far more hassle than it is worth. -

Pretty simple really do you not have a top six in the world???you have never answered that.??Those six whoever they are in your view have they done it? Form and CONSISTENCY yes or no.? -

Great cant dispute what you have said, fairplay to you but you have not answered my question? can you not name your top six riders in the world NOW?are they not the best pretty simple really.Whatever six you pick are they there for a reason they have the results in the bag. I think your logic is flawed,Hampel has been a class rider for years he has struggled but he will never be a champion anyway.Pedersen for me shows me you are so wrong i dislike him as a rider but you can't tell me he was not talented? Others in my opinion were more talented (ie)Adams and others but achieved less. -

I think it will be really close, i think the Robins can win tonight but i will be happy with damage limatation maybe a six point defeat. At home i believe it will be a easy home win can only see a Robins win over the two legs. The reserves tonight are crucial i think overall to the tie result. -

Yes fair anough i know riders who could of done the same, but to be world champion and ride at that level a different kettle of fish. I can name at least twenty riders who would of achieved more on better stuff but we could say that throughout the decades. You are joking? the difference is and always has been over the generations is the consistency element are you telling me NOW there are not six stand out stars for you.? i presume most of us would agree on at least five of the six.? -

Spot on Vince how many riders have you seen over the years who you knew had inferior kit but could improve on other people's?.But most of those never had the consistency that's why they did not reach the next level.Orion is right on one issue though,it is important to have good kit but to suggest anybody could jump on a quick bike and do well is well a touch nieve. -

One isolated incident picked out of a hat that incident was not fantasy, but for some people's reckoning anybody could jump on Tai's bike and be world champ it is so EASY well that is. -

Rubbish no more to say. And you have to have ability to ride them at the top level not a Mickey Mouse meeting.I know of a few riders who i knew could of been better riders on better stuff it was not to be for them this notion of average riders jumping on top kit and doing as well is pure fantasy. -

A ridiculous statement you have to be good to ride quick bikes end of,i thought this of Hans Nielsen in his day how wrong i was.If you put a average rider on his Tai,s aquipment at say a King's Lynn ( like the WTC a few years ago dirt galore on in) alot of riders would get out of shape and would not be able to cope. -
Such a shame 2nd Bender i feel like this alot, and then see a decent race and get the bug again.El racing i barely enjoy the PL i have seen some decent stuff more because they have regular team line ups and the GP series is decent but i understand how you feel you like me have loved the sport.

Tommy Jansson i first see him ride in a test match at the Abbey for Sweden against New Zealand in 1973.For me he would of been a force with PC up until the eighties.A great riding style a great temperament great aquipment he had everything he beat Crash for the helmet and also beat Jessup .I thought at the time PC,Jansson,or Crump( on his Streety machine) could break the monopoly of the great brigade Mauger,Olsen,Michanek, but it wasn't to be i actually think Jansson would of had a squeak in the 76 katowice final.

A very poor post,Tai if you can remember was not always flavour of the month he made mistakes he addressed them.Who says Ward can't ,i hope so but don't have a short term memory Tai was going nowhere until he addressed his problems.

For me WK the standard was higher, more strength in depth,a top 20 then were all top dollar riders now even world wide how many are world class ? twenty maybe? -
I think it is Swindon's to lose, not that they are a great side far from it i have never believed that. But Poole for me are well beatable damage limatation at Wimbourne Rd win comfortably at the Abbey another title me hopes!

A great home win, really gutsy of Birks to ride( i enjoyed watching him at Swindon) he did a great job tonight.Skidmore 3 points for Douglas was disappointing Auty god he is frustrating at times mainly because he is a proper racer and a poor gater but at his best he can beat anybody in the PL.A good home win all is not lost, maybe Douglas could be back?i recon a easy home win against the witches but if we are honest if young Kurtz was fit they would take some stopping i believe.

I was a great fan of George he for me is in the top three players of all time with Pele/ Cruyff, in a group anyway Di Stefano, Maradona( cheat and to himself), Zidane, Moore,Beckenbaur, (ect) Ward has made mistakes but not terminal ones it is up to him really a great rider does he want it? i think so and he will prove it in the years to come..

I agree Vince i go now and i am in awe of the skill of the riders awesome really.I have supported speedway from the same years as yourself and you are so right i did see garbage meeting's but i suppose because i loved the sport it did not matter. What I do miss is a good old BL set up we had the best league now that has gone what i have fond memories of are the derby meeting's against Oxford,Reading,Newport great days. -

Some of the GP racing might be as good Vince, but the league racing i watch week in week out as good as the 70s and 80s there is no comparison in my opinion. -
Great result hope he now goes on and cements his top eight place in the GPS.
