  1. That track was brilliant great racing the golden Gauntlet meeting was decent every year remember Autrey winning it.
  2. Alot of judging a riders greatness is usually impaired by your own bias, i think alot of us do that.Out of all the Champions Pedersen who is a three time world champion for me he would not get in my all time top twenty.Alot would disagree but i would have Olsen,Gundersen,Lee,Nielsen,Sigalos,Adams,Gollob, all ahead of him mainly because of there ability and conduct. To name a all time top twenty it would be interesting to see how many of the GP stars got in it.?
  3. A great character i have read WK he was a hard rider feared, but also had a soft side and got on well with riders certainly really helpful to the young riders would help anybody.
  4. Interesting Aces that you mentioned Crump,Simmons,Jessup, there career's are so similar all THREE of them averaged over 10pts a match for five seasons.Crump also averaged over 11 pts per match in 1975 scoring 25 maximums also in 1974 he scored 14 maximums and 1976 15 maximums.I know Somerton Park had a huge home advantage but 74,75,76 were great seasons for Crump.Jessup had the best world final record reaching six finals where Crump and Simmo badly underachieved only reaching three finals each.
  5. POTENTIAL that's it at the moment Ward will go and prove it i believe for me Crump was a better rider than Jessup ever was.Better on the northern tracks Mike lee said on his DVD he never had great aquipment turned up and borrowed his aquipment some of the time.Crump/Sanders were GREAT riders for me as for Carter i rated him very highly but he never achieved as much as Crump snr) he was not placed in a world final.!
  6. North and Morris for me are not in the same league as Fricke/Kurtz longterm we shall see.
  7. Are you for real Crump was a top BL rider i would say 1974 to 83.’ok after the Ashby injury in 77 he was not as good but was still some rider. He regrouped and even in the Penhall/Carter final he was riding well anough to get a place i think you under rate him.You said you went to Hyde Rd in the Carter era Crump always did well there in the Collins Pomp Crump could beat him no worries and that was an achievement .Also he beat your other underachiever( i rated him )(Carter)regularly beat him at the shay and at the abbey. You know your stuff but Crump snr was not a also ran quality i personally think he was better than Adams in 75/76 he should of won a title,
  8. Sommelier the bloke is quality and if he averages well over nine what a achievement that is in his second year, Mike Lee did it as a 16 year old novice being no 1 reaching the tough old NLRC that now will never happen.I think he a certain GP rider, I would still have Fricke in front of him with Holder just behind my opinion only the Aussies have a great future with promising riders coming through.
  9. Are you for real ?i would think Ward would be thinking get sharp earn money do you think if he rides for Poole next year is his NO 1 priority?.He needs to get back in the GP series and that will be pretty difficult really hard! earning pocket money for Poole in 2016 won't be his priority.
  10. Top post "grachan " Briggo said Crump should of unveiled his Street bike for the Final only and he could of won it in 75. Crump snr was a great rider for me ,chuffed Jason eclipsed him i supported him also i would say in 1975/76 T. Jansson,Collins, Crump were the only three really who could put it to Ole,Ivan on the big stage Michanek also was CLASS never forget him. Shut down if we can't afford his wages end of not a problem for me,but we can i believe and a few extra on the gate with him here would help also this side we have now is not good anough.
  11. We move on Batch i like and i rate, but he should be an in out no 1 by now he is not .Also with our asset record (ie Doyley, and Magic ) why worry about next year? try and rescue this year and see a great rider in the bargain.
  12. My take on thing's is i don't believe this side at the moment is good anough to make the play/offs.I think whoever is released will be unlucky, even Batch because i believe he can turn his season around the ability is there. But with Ward and the exciting Kurtz in the side i can see away wins coming that has to happen. Also Ward will help bring a few through the gate a great rider and Swindon need that, and i have not looked forward to a rider coming to Swindon so much since the days of Scott Autrey coming in 1980.If this does not happen i would be happy with the other scenario, and make of the team with Pawlicki in but with Ward/Kurtz Swindon could still make the top four away wins a must.
  13. Not the best of meetings,it got better as it went along Simon Lambert rode very well he is certainly improving with his racing. One point i would make is i was not impressed with Stewart Dickson the Glasgow team manager his manor in the interviews certainly about the riders was very poor.Over a period that style of team managing will be exposed, maybe he is not like that all the time so i will give him a bit of slack.
  14. He impressed me when he rode for the Robins, he hit a difficult period in his home matches but worked through it and was very useful at times away from home.
  15. Someone said Josh was aiming to get back in six weeks, after being told up to eight weeks out.
  16. This week on this forum you have taken a fair battering, people are wiseing up to you the word FACT which you use you can never use again.
  17. Bottle what would you know? the nearest you come to it is the ibottle of milk in your fridge!!
  18. If you have over twenty odd incidents over a period and that is being generous surely you have to think that.?
  19. None of us are Ward lovers we recognise what a great rider he is, ok he has made mistakes ( you have surely? ) Ward has to buckle down stay out of trouble, but as i have said before he is proffessional has a brilliant team turns up prepared he will comeback well i hope it is at Swindon! Are you a nice individual?? i have my doubts.
  20. You are the stats man not my forte no way riders over 10 plus in the old days.Do you think SCB Swindon have to lose two riders to fit WARD in would u? make the change or not.!
  21. Amazing really Oldace when Lee won his title Jansson would of only been 27 years of age approaching his peak.I know you watched alot of racing at the great Hyde Rd did you see Jansson race there?I have his record there only rode in one BLRC scored 6 points but i remember him riding well for Sweden in a test match beating PC which then was a mighty feat. I don't think so and i think better judges than me would say he is knowhere near the best ever.?
  22. I hope she didn't visit the scary bogs over on the cheap side of the abbey that would put anybody off.
  23. Jansson Duggan ( because of the war) Farndon Oldace are more on what my opinion is rather than achievement i do believe they are great riders .And Norbold rates Farndon so that is good anough for me.? do you think Jansson would he of won a title? .I always thought PC, Jansson, Crump( on the Street mega engine) Lee could of all challenged the Olsen/Mauger Michanek era all hyphathetical i suppose.
  24. Interesting?i loved Phil Crump rated him higher than Leigh some on here thought i was mad, maybe ask Chalky,Hagonshocker,Orion, Orlov, ER what they thought of Leigh.A mega rider for me a awesome riding style great team man and a real nice person.
