  1. He is aged 21, not alot of exsperience in speedway but has a background in motorcycles. For me the important thing is not to over ride try to hard and enjoy it hopefully touch wood no injuries for Rohan..He will do very well i think i said he would ave 7.50?asking alot if you say he will surpass Masters thats not unreallistick i suppose.
  2. Tungate another great performance in the 3rd round aussie champs today .10pts and 2nd in the B final ,on you tube has the Kuri kuri meeting on there he really looks a racer you will have a fun season with him i think. If i gage the level hes at i would say nearly at Masters level looks decent from the back as well.
  3. Now Greg has 8 usa titles to Mike,s 7 be interesting what the americans take is now is Bast still the king at home.I suspect he is always frustrated me he didnt ride over here wonder privately does he regret it basing on what Penhall achieved earned mega money at home i understand why.
  4. I am all for that, i am not opposed to the gps just who and how they get in it.?Always felt one off meetings were exciting for live tv but i cant see it ever happening the people who run speedway even some in this country cant see farther than there own nose.
  5. No i dont disagree on that Chunky, Kennett was a very accomplished rider and you are right he was good at blunsdon.Himself, Simmo Jessup Davis to name a few for me were not capable of winning meetings at Hyde rd; Sheffield; Halifax ;against world class fields. And all those riders had good aquipment also for me it is a myth to say it is easy with decent aquipment to ride big racey tracks.
  6. Kennett was always decent at Blunsdon but for me never really regularly beat Crump Petersen Autrey [ 1 season ] the big guns. Also in my exsperience White City was always slick as a board suited a white line er.Jessup i wasnt a fan of a gater for me, and on the real race tracks wasnt a threat. With the little track/ big track point i agree but i also think it happened the other way as well. [ examples ] in the 60s 70 s and 80s Pendlebury ,Paulson , Haynes , Sharpe ,Kentwell, Baker, Janke, P,Carr , A. Smith , good at home big track riders away pretty poor. The other way round decent little track riders D.Kennett, Geer, Gachet, E.Dugard, Standing,Woods [nearly top class at home ]excellent at Crayford] Buck, were pretty poor on the big pacey tracks. Also years ago there were not many technical tracks about most were middle size to big excluding Wimbledon Eastbourne who were sometimes in the 2nd tier.Bast for example maybe if he had rode for Wimbledon he would of done well at home away some big tracks to master also Kings Lynn Cradley proper racing tracks.I dont think he would of averaged over 8 away maybe less than that.?
  7. I disagree i think costa mesa [ect he was comfortable that day in 77, Penhall looked competetive beat Bast ,Bast looked way of the pace.Penhall also beat Bast regular in the usa .I also disagree on the point about riding the larger tracks that it is easier ive seen loads of riders of class never master the big ones.Jessup Kennett Simmons to name a few i am not saying they couldnt ride them to win top class meetings at Hyde rd Sheffield they couldnt. My opinion is Bast deep down wasnt confident anough in his own ability outside his safety zone.
  8. No i believe Pedersen was over zealous got away with alot of major incidents over the years.Riders ive seen Sigalos Carter Sanders both Morans havent got the tea shirt as such were better riders in my opinion. He to me is a example where the best rider has not one the series and over the years he has been lucky with major decisions. He still does it now will always do it it is in his make up.Remember seing Adams v Crump at the abbey think Leigh won 2.1 but you could see total trust in each other no sticking each other that for me is why i am not a lover of Pedersen. Correct that side was a good un ,they did create some good players over the years Beasant Winterburn Holdsworth Wise to name a few.If those teams had of met 10 times i recon Liverpool would of won 7 a couple of draws maybe the gang would of won 1.But they had a game plan and stuck to it it wasnt a fluke on the day thats why all sport is great.
  9. Pedersen you are right ,i dont think he is in Olsen,s league i dont sometimes think he is control and lets be honest he is a DIRTY rider at times push the limits alot.In the modern day Rickardsson Crump Gollob Hancock Adams for me personally are better riders my opinion only.Your take i think on the series is that the best rider should win over 11 rounds dont get me wrong Pedersen can be proud of his career.
  10. Strange Steve i watch darts but have no idea what his vision is on that sport. There has been alot of moans in the snooker fraternity because some players are losing money on some PD events. First prize in places like India 10,000 barely covering your costs and thats if you win the event. So it isnt all plain sailing Hearn is a bit of a dictator but i do think he is in danger of over SATURATING the sport.
  11. If you could have your time again Waihekeaces1 are you glad you see the 1off finals?.Or do you wish you had seen the Briggoes [ ect ] in this format .? I moan but i dont mind the g.ps i should hate the old format really .Because my favourites Crump, Autrey E Boocock Wilson Ashby were not done any favours over the years in it ,injury unlucky [ect ] suppose they were the rules. I am not keen on Hearn really but i wouldnt say snooker is a closed shop now. What i think would be better if they had less tournaments and had better prize money in the ones they run.Saying that Hearn says the bread and butter players are earning a hell of alot more.Stewart Bingham is a great [ ex ] of that always has been good now he is playing more he has just won his first event as a pro.
  12. Oldace proves the one off is a different quality ,pressure was immense more so than now.Rembas rode well wasnt a fluke ok the Jessup ef helped but i am convinced the series is easier. Were Wimbledon better than Liverpool? were Sunderland better than Leeds?was Douglas better than Tyson yes they were on the day. Out of the old format 1973 was the only shock for me we all new Muller could win it he was a brilliant all round motor cyclist. The rest generally won by the best riders yet since 1995 only in my opinion Pedersen (3 times won it and fair play) Loram 1) were not the best riders in the world. Not one year have i rated Pedersen in front of Crump,Gollob, not as a allround speedway rider so is the GPseries bullet proof the best win every year a NO for me.
  13. Thanks britmet some sites have some havent 8 Placed it is.
  14. Was going through the records, does Nielsen officially get 3rd in 1990 for Morans disqualification.Always been said Wiltshire was world no 2 but on some records Hans hasnt been reconized if so his record is F 19 W 4 P9 Rather than placed 8?
  15. Basically Chunky it used to be if you were in the 16 at the cut off that was it for a year. Now so many events on there are loads of ranking points available, meaning the top 16 changes monthly. So come april Osullivan who is provisionally 14 at mo might have to qualify come the W.C.
  16. Just see a interview on the bbc website with Barry Hearn the snooker supremo saying how i feel.Refreshing really he said he dosent mind if he Upsets a few as long as everyone has a chance to enter every tournament. He said the days of the same 16 Just guaranteed to be in every tournament has gone.If you dont play regular you within 6 months will drop out the elite 16 .Therefore whoever you are and reputation you will have to QUALIFY .He says the game is evolving and there are new stars on the horizon but he said if good anough a 55 year old Steve Davis can attempt to play in every tournament if he wishes.Maybe a thought for speedway the FAIREST way in my view.
  17. See Gary a few times see him at Swindon in 1973? a test match Sweden v New Zealand i get mixed up there were two of them test matches. One in 1972 and 1973 i think Gary rode in 73 Gary rode well Briggo and Ivan missed the meeting through injury ? if i remember rightly.
  18. Morton was brilliant from the back who was the better From the back Mort or P.C? both superb at Hyde rd.
  19. I do think Briggo was disgracefully stopped in 73 a entry ,and a few individual meetiings as well i know he missed the Silver Plume at Swindon. I am not convinced he would of conquered all of the big tracks to be a threat. At White city good aquipment [ec] looked out of his depth was talented no doubt.
  20. You only named 3 riders thats why he averaged 11.50 ish or over a number of times and god that was unbelievable .For a few years i and a couple mates went most weeks to Cowley and i can remember on one hand how many riders beat him. I would love to have the stats, if my memory serves me i remember Shirra and Holloway getting a 5.1 over him in a 3 team tourn Gundersen wiped the floor with him once he went through the card helmet as well i think? also Thorp , Blackbird, Knudsen K. Moran thats about it really he was like a machine .By the way Waihekeaces1 do you? think Lee if motivated and dad helping would of been a threat into his early 30s i do but i think he might of struggled a little with the new starting precedures. He could of conquered that i think, since i have been going at his best Lee was the quickest rider i ever saw ive noticed on his on nights he always had mega quick times.
  21. Didnt Autrey and Woods have real problems Autrey exspecially in 79 i think he was banned? and 78 and 79 he had a great chance of the w.c.Woods who was doing well at Newport upped and went back home.I never really understood why there were problems.
  22. TWK Brough park on your supporters Premier news bit , was on about a meeting being held for the staff the track on that picture looks great . Loads of dirt on it,when i last went in 84 it was as rough as a dogs backside nice people though friendly and a nice pint. Will go back sometime thought it looked a tough track to master.
  23. When Nielsen got his 11 plus averages the level had dropped quite alot, then .And by the way Lee was not a old man when that joke ban happened 24/25 and at the end of 83 murdered Nielsen in the Pride of the east .Also you have got the word PEAK wrong because Penhall only had 5 years in Britain he would of improved his confidence sky high after winning his titles Penhall when he retired was more consistent than Hans.Nielsen would of never got a 11 plus average with a Penhall a fit Sigalos Lee Sanders Carter Gundersen Knudsen S,Moran around you overplay the word PEAK and figures.
  24. I only did it from1955 , and you are right maybe Gundersen would not of won a title?(1977,78,79,80,81,83 i would say in my opinion Lee was a better rider than Nielsen 82 Lee was awful still averaged about 9.70.Those years of Lee and Penhall would of been good anough to compete with Nielsen i know Lee never really feared Hans, Penhall he said was his big danger.1984 till 1990 all NIELSEN I would say Erik would of had a job to stay with him over 11rounds.
