  1. I think if London got the chance i dont see what Cardiff has in ubundance that London dosent have.I am not saying it has to be the gp maybe a individual meeting league racing cannot see maybe Wimbledon premier league?
  2. Cardiff has been great and will carry on being great, but there are other options.Myself would i rather go to Lodon for the weekend orCardiff up to the individual i suppose.i am convinced London would get a better gate .
  3. The Dean Machine would a London venue get a better gate? ten thousand more maybe if not more the curiosity factor of going back to the capital could be massive.Do i think having a gp really benefits the Elite League i would say no.
  4. Another post mentioned the roof not me Gothenburg? but you never answered is Cardiff set in stone forever?.Odsal in my mind a much better racing track than Cardiff exspecially if they really banked it up the potential is there.
  5. Thankyou compost for that, Monk i have looked into his career and certain riders have said how good he was Briggo for one.Be great for you to give me more imformation about Peter thanks.
  6. Mick we have to keep Cardiff for ever because it has a roof? madness Wembley, the Olympic stadium and Odsal would rival Cardiff easily if given the chance no chance though to many people with there own hidden agendas.
  7. Wondered if anyone could give me the complete averages of Peter Craven up until his untimely death. Also Charlie Monk 1965 he won the INTERNATIONALE was it then the provisional league? and 1966 please.
  8. Good post GR theyre is also something that nags away at me i no he is good anough but does he?.This year touch wood all his problems will be out of the way and he can focus on his goal.I believe the series should of made sure he participated this year he is a drawcard but does Darcy worry that much about the W.C?Michael Lee by doing what he did by the age of 19 shows me the series closed shop needs to be changed young riders the future need to be pushed on as soon as possible JANOWSKI is a prime example should be in it full time now not having to wait as he has to.Briggoes points are really good and for me the 3 riders who should of won it were Sigalos Sanders( who at the time of his death was outstanding up there with Nielsen and Gundersen)and recently Leigh Adams who for me was a better rider than Pedersen but as Briggo said you have to have the complete package to be W.C.
  9. Phil have you a vested interest ? to dismiss it as a option is madness? This has been discussed before and you have always been mega negative dont no why ?.If Wembley is available, Cardiff is in the background for you to dismiss it makes me no sense.
  10. Hardly run its course Wembley i feel? even if the 1981 72,000 crowd was correct? which i am not convinced of that figure..Up until Penhalls retirement i thought the sport was in pretty good shape i thought the decline started from 1988 onwards?.If a agreement could be made to get Wembley which now i think is achievable and it is financially viable which with the research i am sure it could be this could be a trump card for speedway in the future. No doubt in my mind the Wembley crowd would be far bigger than Cardiff.Keep Cardiff odviously but have Wembley has a option who knows maybe Odsal might be in the equation to.
  11. Your so right and when you say it like that it makes you realise that the gp series certainly isnt fair. And what GR said was correct at least 10 are not capable of winning the world title.Myself even this year i only see four being able to win it, i think the top 8 should qualify only then change it encourage new blood in.
  12. No i dont think Jessup would of won in 1980 if the gps were iffect ,some of the bigger tracks on the circuit would of caught him out. Also people forget Lee broke his back at the NEC which was a miracle he won it in 1980. Jessup was unlucky not to win a one off final but over 11 rounds i dont think so.Jessup was a very fine rider but for me i rated of the 70s guys Ray Wilson Martin Ashby, simmo higher than DJ of course well behind Pc and Lee.
  13. Not 20,000 ths worth of empty seats Oldace not convinced ok not 92 ,ooo i have been to internationals England [ect] and 1981 looked as packed as some of them.Would say if you put Cardiffs crowd into the old Wembley would look a bit sad puts it into perspective for me Wembley has never been replaced not really.
  14. Maybe sentiment getting in the way GR? i wouldnt right off Gollob either not convinced with Hampel dont think he will win it.
  15. Jim why did Peter struggle a bit at times at Liverpool was he a complete novice had to learn his trade first.?Then went on to have a great career cruely cut short what sort of track was Liverpool was it big do you know?
  16. I have about 5 different articles about 1981, never once was 72,000 mentioned still a good crowd if true? Football then used to get 90,000 plus i cant believe there were 20,000 gaps there that night was packed if so was still a good crowd
  17. I agree was chocker block ,i cant remember many gaps i have articles for the meeting and 92,000 was never disputed. It is only the last 10 years it has been put into question1975 was also a good gate coaches galore outside remember nearly losing me dad.
  18. Has Buxton still got the grey cindered shale Cookie? went to Buxton v Swindon i loved the track i know not the same reminded me of Halifax James Wright was outstanding when i went.
  19. BFD any news on Damien Koppe has he got a trade? is that why he wont commit to England.Been watching his progress, and his races with Auty at Pioneer were brilliant on you tube.Whats your take Dave do you like him i think Sheffield would suit him? His old man was no mug either National league riders champ and i saw a year of him at Swindon a very good rider.
  20. Jonesy i think you should do a report on every gp,would be excellent .A good way of the stats being on hand round to round,I would look forward to it maybe an idea ?
  21. Doolan at his best is a late 8ish 9 pt man, and i agree with Catch 22 i think Risager will average over 7.
  22. Really good Jonesy 2012. 1,Crump, 2.Jonsson 3.Holder.
  23. Better than a closed shop now, ride by INVITATION only AAAARGGGGGGGHHH ,;;;;;;;;
