  1. I am not a Plymouth fan but hope they do well, i think it is exciting for the P.L. Because Plymouth are like a few clubs we dont really know what there full potential/ level is.
  2. Thats not really the point because outside the top 8 and i am not saying i even like that what riders SHOULD be guaranteed a spot.Andersen and Lindback have had chances if anything it would be Llung.Maybe Janowski/ Hancock didnt want him to have a entry who knows?
  3. 1977, you make out he was at his peak his standard generally was very high.if anything on given nights in 1983 at Poole he was near on unbeatable. The point is would he Lee have got a chance in 1975/ 76(reached B.final as reserve) those years he gained valuble exsperience. For me Janowski is a ex) has showed he has talent and maybe dosent like Ward want to go in it.For me i would like to see him in all 11 rounds, i am not saying he is good anough but would be nice for him to test himself. Those examples you gave are right but many other young up and coming riders would not of got the chance alot i would say.
  4. Out of six world finals Lee had chances of winning in 77,79,80,83 in my opinion he disliked Wembley.P.C maybe in 75,77(unlucky) as well to add to his 76 title.Ward for me has a great chance for me is the best young rider ive seen since Lee and Carter, high praise because there has been many along the years. The other two in my opinion that you named have alot to do but who knows.
  5. Those first 3 named are GREATS are you for real no comparrison.
  6. What do you exspect Robin from Boxall points wise?
  7. The examples given by endless people on here are there to see, Lee, Moore, Louis( a different age scale and exsperience looking back what a achievement for Tiger) Collins. They are just a few named theyre is no doubt in my my mind those named would no way of got a chance REGULARLY as they did now in the series. For me when i have seen at least 10 riders (riders i admire i must add) regularly ride over 3 years now in the gp it is odvious to me that it is a closed shop.Crump Gollob Hampel Jonsson Saydifunov Holder Bjerre Hancock Pedersen Harris Lindgren. 11 named most of them if not all of them will be in it the series as LONG they want to.They are the right riders of course but that is not the point 11 the main core are nearly guaranteed to be in it.Even 2 of the new faces in it this year Andersen and Lindback have had endless chances i am not saying it is WRONG just pointing out things.
  8. We take for granted the finance side of things, not all riders come from wealthy backgrounds.I dont think there is any doubt from what people who know more about Steve than me that the ability is there i hope it goes well for him maybe he will get a bit of a hand money wise.?
  9. The point you are missing are that they would have to EARN the right to get there in the first place. One or 2 good efforts rides would not be anough one slip up and you are out..It would still be the same old suspects more or likely would win it.And how many people have won gps and got to finals when they have only scored 8 pts? to get to the semi final.Alot different having to score 13 pts to win a meeting than scoring 8 to reach the semi final a different scenario and pressure altogether.you cant even compare the two formats alongside. Peter Craven 1st Lee certainly in front of PC for me.
  10. Franchetti, and Holder, are they the ones who have to hit the right notes straight away?.If not could there be early changes or will the promotion be patient.?
  11. There are only about 140 pros in snooker i dont think amateures are aloud in it.Therefore all the events in there calendar year gives each player a seeding. if you have EARNED the right over the year is that FAIR?.16 seeds are through. Another 16 spots available for the tv stages therefore 124 players all have the same chance for 16 spots seems fairer to me than the gp series. The gpseries you know Oldace with the wildcards ect there are only about 3 places.Thats reality Andersen,Lindback and LIUNG (2 of them have had loads of gps between them anyway the other he got in by default (pepe?.Is that not a closed shop? Snooker might even do away with the 16 seedings and have a fa. cup format but they want the whole year to have a carrott at the end of it something to play for and appearing at Sheffield is certainly that.
  12. I was wrong he was 17 nearly 18? and he was UNSEEDED was Becker exspected to win Wimbledon no a complete outsider a star was BORN because he was a given a chance.Johnson in snooker he had failed under the lights of tv and his fellow pros new he was good but he had failed,That year winning the championship was a complete shock Davis then was really dominant in snooker.Sunderland beating that great Leeds side did you exspect that?In Snooker only 16 out of 130 odd pros qualify for the WC automatic the rest have to QUALIFY snooker is not a closed shop anymore unlike speedway.
  13. I dont know the lad see him a bit at conference level was impressed. When he rode a bit a few meetings at EL looked on the pace. What has been his problem i have no idea the ability is there hope Steve does for himself more than anyone.
  14. I really rate Boxall and if he is determined can average above 7.50 up to steve really.Holder, and Glanz can improve a top 5 finish will be tough not impossible though.
  15. It is complicated i know, your suggestions seem good. My own feeling is i would love the romance of every speedway rider being able to have a go if he wished. That is not a reality we all know that even what i am suggesting it is still a closed shop though.Might be a bit fairer the qualfying rounds for me dont work they are exspensive and the u21s series how much does that cost travelling to places like Latvia? i dont know really what the solution is? other sports a couple of examples) Becker as a unseeded raw 18 year old winning Wimbledon and Joe Johnson a 500/1 shot winning at the crucible there will never ever be that possibility happening in speedway again.
  16. Even what i suggested i am not that keen on but think it might be better than the present system.I just am not keen on the safety net that the series creates at the moment for a chosen few,The qualifying rounds are they really working ?must be at a great exspence as well. it wont change anyway so i will have to go with the flow.
  17. Are they both not talented in there own right? i like both my friend prefers Greg i do like Artem do you not realise both are talented?.
  18. Spot on and i see a interview with Crump senior, he said in some finals the riders new there were at least 6 to 8 riders on a given day were capable of winning it or doing well.
  19. I think that shows the old system wasnt to bad? apart from 1973 most of the right riders won it.I dont include Muller because he was a terrific talent anyway. A differerent test but i suppose the series is FAIRER but it is a different mental test than the one off pressure.
  20. What track will the GPin the US be at Long Beach? i love that track maybe at the LA Galaxy stadium?
  21. Am surprised Chunky,i like all 3 Harris a terrific racer Nicholls hope at Coventry gets back on track never really liked Blunsdon dont no why.To be honest all 3 would do well to get in a top 30 i think.
  22. Great list Custom house kid Eric Langton a surprise where is Mike the bike?
  23. Great news good luck Billy wished you could of had a couple of months in the E.L.
  24. Laguta last year struggled at first i was chuffed when he showed what he could do.Kennett probably isnt good anough but he impressed me last year before his ban he is determined.SCB you talk a good game but theyre are loads on here who have great knowledge(Not saying you havent any) but alot of them have because they have physically seen these riders. What have you seen a poor relation of the british league the gp at Cardiff once a year and research on the internet the difference is those people i have said about have watched speedway for years you havent i am afraid.
