Carter Where Does He Rate With The Great British Riders?
stratton replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
i was never a fan of DJ also Kennett i thought was just a whiteline rider but i was wrong. But make no mistake Gordon was a top class rider and he had a great career.Who was the better out of DJ and Kennett at all the northern venues and Exeter? Gordon for me. -
No Ray Wilson why?

Did Nigel Pearson And Chris Louis
stratton replied to T.W.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
i dont see why you and others get so uptight, its only a opinion a valid one.Things wont change so i dont even think about it anymore but Pearson is well rewarded so he isnt doing anybody a favour. In my opinion Newbon is in a different league but i suppose there are more important issues in speedway need addressing before this. -

Did people think Gollob, made some bad mistakes in the final? or not he must be scratching his head today wondering how he didnt win the final. -
Disagree Bobbath Eric was the better rider in my view only just thou.
-
I remember Bluey riding in the Silver Plume, at Swindon in1973 Autrey debut season also rode.A memory i have of Eric was i am sure the control board gave him permission.? To come back from injury (a broken arm at Newport) in the no 6 berth? he scored 14 pts he was outstanding. My uncle always said on the world stage he underachieved but beat Briggo at the abbey in the late 60s in the silver sash and was a outstanding rider.
-
Some of those riders you named Keef top class see both of them quite a bit ,Bluey was exciting Eric i feel just edged it Eric was very underated but Bluey,s record outstanding.

To be honest SCB, with Australia,Denmark,Poland, in it i think all the Brits fall a bit short Harris and Woffinden are only competetive. It looks more encouraging thou with some young talent emerging, saying that i dont even think it is even easy for us to just qualify.
-
Kennett certainly is good anough, you have seen more of him than i are you telling me he isnt good anough for GB?.i like Harris, Nicholls,Woffinden,Barker, Bridger Auty,Stead,King and maybe Roynon,Mear Worrall,Howarth, in the future will step up to the plate its not all doom and gloom.
-
Harris,Bridger,Kennett,Woffinden,King,Barker,Nicholls,Auty, they would be my pool a squad of 8 riders.See then who deserves to be chosen on form nearer the time.My five probably would be Woffinden,Harris,Kennett,Barker,Auty.

I think from 1988 till about 2000? the level was poorer, now it has got stronger i am not sure about strength in depth wise?Who replaces the old guard in the future are the numbers there.I think from 1963 till 1988 it was the strongest its ever been i dont know how strong it was before Cravens death.Like i said the series is strong(often with the same old faces) but riders coming through i dont see lots banging the door down.
-
Agree i think it did its job then well, two ex) at Swindon Keen 11 years on the trot Hitch 7 years out of 8 years service. Two exciting loyal riders who the fans loved the fans then could identify more with there team whether they were top of the table or bottom.Cam Woodward at Eastbourne i think is in his 7th season? those days have gone now be great if the same team could defend a title.
-
Out of these youngsters who do you think will prevail and go on and be good riders.Ward, Janowski,Sundstrom, i believe will certainly be gp riders. Out of the rest i think these riders could do well in the future,i dont know what level who knows? Kildemand,Jensen,Tungate,Campton,Auty,Roynon(no injuries)Worrall,Jacobs,Birks,Heeps,Masters,Morris, not original but like to think a few of them would do well. What riders do people think are promising others?heard this Jensen,s alrite? dunno where.

Nz Gp , The Stand That Was Not So Grand!
stratton replied to SHALEWAY69's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I went last night too the abbey and got home at 10.40, the referee a woman had a mare did drag on a wee bit.Has made me think we have to start cracking on with the meetings maybe i am way off beam on this but delays and stoppages and dire music must put youngsters off.Say for example 18 or 19 year olds thought maybe i will go to speedway then go to a club after leaving at 10.30 would put them off.I think it should be a prompt as possible 7.30 start crack on with the action straight through with it. Maybe one little interval only last night it didnt matter so much because it was a great meeting. -

This was a unique occasion in N.Z all i am saying is 5 minutes of time not hours? is that to much to ask.I find it strange that people have a problem with that, would Sir Matt at Utd Shanks at liverpool go there and not be made a fuss of a big NO and rightly so.Ronnie, ivan, Briggo would not exspect much of a fuss a few minutes thats all anyway the event and meeting was very good which was the main thing. Know not a cheapshot didnt mean it like that Dave, am sorry you are as big a speedway supporter as anybody. You are right, yes i am not paying the bills they can do what they want when i watched it live all i wanted was for it to be a success and it was a great advert and Bill Buckley fair play to him.
