  1. Not bad britmet 5th, bearing in mind Newcastle were the kings with legends the Owen brothers .You think with a month left at least 3 of there riders could of reached the NLRC.
  2. Whats wrong with a old one having memories.!!
  3. I can understand why it is done this way,I think King,s Lynn showed other tracks can produce a great event.Saying that Lynn have always had an awesome track and produced brilliant wtcups in the 80s onwards. For me it would be a shame if the events kept going to the same tracks but money is everything. Thats why yesteryear was far superior different tracks sizes and variation nearly every track had at least 1 big event every season but if speedway needs to do this to survive I understand that.
  4. Was looking through some old stats in 1977, Peterborough had a no 1 with a ave of 7.83 and a number 7 with a ave of 6.35.Would never happen now would it, was amazed really I remember Sheffield in 73 having a similar average scenario. Averages. 1. Hines 7.83. 2.Clark 7.47. 3.Hawkins 7.37. 4.Flat man 7.08. 5.B.Clark. 6.99. 6.Cousins 6.50. 7.Matthews 6.35.The national league teams seemed to have closer averages or am I imagining it.?
  5. Thats fair enough if the revenue is shared around? but it still should be held at different venues not just B FInals each year also they have already had that under 21 meeting there early in the year.
  6. RIght Dave the line up is a excellent one, I am looking forward too it just felt the revenue should be shared around the tracks a bit more but as you say it would of been nice for Birmingham.
  7. Why is this meeting being held here? facilities can't be the reason why are these meetings not properly shared around.Woffinden has a massive advantage also did they not earlier in the season have the under 21 event.Wolves is a ok track, not one of the best in my opinion Peterborough, Swindon, Lynn, Sheffield, all better race tracks. It still seems to me that speedway still has that jobs for the boys aspect certain people getting advantages yet as a WHOLE the sport not working together will things ever change.?
  8. Pretty good choices starman ,remember seeing Mark as a 16 year old at the wick couldn't gate then by god he was exciting over the years one of the nice guys too.
  9. I have been a NIcki knocker ,over some of his incidents over the years, but I have always enjoyed watching him race is great with the fans autographs ect. Never a dull moment and puts bums on seats the Alex HIggins of speedway.
  10. No way Swindon, KIng,s Lynn and Sheffield are by far the best racing tracks left in Britain. Was always bemused why Coventry had all those British FInals ?see some good ones 1975 but also some mediocre ones too.
  11. Denmark were the best team end of,and that's from someone who backed Australia.Australia had to have to use the joker to keep tabs on a England at Kings Lynn a rule most of us detest. The Aussies are a proud lot and have great team ethic and are great as a group.Davy did a great job, I don't know the reasons but Ryan has gone a different route in his career I personally would love to see him back in Britain again as he was one of my favourites but the Aussies put on a great show Denmark were just better.
  12. Having watched the wtc, how do we build for the future ?in my opinion it looks bleak but should we have a strategy and stick to it.Its difficult as we should give the young ones a chance but also you don't want them out of there depth as well. The days of Lee, Collins, Carter,Morton, Wigg are long gone but how can we move forward. I feel the PL have a huge part to play,be great if a couple of English riders per team were given a continued run in the team.As if you look at some Pl teams there are quite a lot of mediocre foreign riders taking up chances that are young boys should be getting. What are people's thoughts? I think we maybe are past the stage of being able to do anything about it as the the long decline in quality is well set in.
  13. Be great to get the helmet match races back, would be brilliant I have seen Ashby v Jansson, Crump v Penhall Collins and Lee S Moran v Lee great days.
  14. My heroes were Briggo, Malc Holloway, Martin Ashby,P Crump,Mike Lee and Tommy Jansson.
  15. I am all for the wtc staying in it's format as it is but are the El Clubs getting compensated?Swindon for one could of done with running this week were they compensated?RIders I believe get paid peanuts for these events? as well I don't agree with these events also the gps dictating our league fixtures. If all the clubs are compensated I haven't a problem if not something has to be done about it.
  16. I think the Aussies are beatable but I plump for them just if Ward holds up.Going to have a bit on Iversen to be Denmarks top scorer a class act and has done brilliant job to reinvent himself.
  17. As you said ER there needs to be a massive change, it won't happen though and things like the young uns over here practicing ect is made so hard noise health and safety regs.I would like to see Pl Teams having to have 2 English riders per team the likes of Young, Morris, getting the chances they deserve and there are numerous others Jacobs ect as well.
  18. Very harsh Iris big time, Vatcher and Morris are not up to it MIddlo is the best available if anyone was to replace him you might laugh the only man good enough is Eric Boocock.Let MIddlo try to revamp England with some young uns will be a long process but it has to be done what more could MIddlo have done Iris? I don't think it is a certain MJJ and co will dominate not by a long chalk Holder, Ward are there for the long haul and numerous other youngsters Dudek Bartek ect are knocking on the door.
  19. Batchelor and Watt out of there depth are you on the same planet? Oh no Rose tinted glasses some of your comments are total nonsense I thought you were a Troy fan.?
  20. Agree totally Auty has had a great season ave nearly 9 in the Pl and over 7.5 in the E.l.He is a typicall Brit reminds me in the Carter mould 100 per cent racer and trier.Roynon also a favourite of mine watched him at the abbey Swindon when he was 15 is a talent no doubt about it.
  21. Thanks CIty looked and have bought on eBay now the prices some are mad 4.99 plus postage for a speedway mail.?
  22. Wondered if anyone have speedway stars from 1980 until 1988 for sale.Moved out of home in 86 and my mum and dad had a clear out and got rid of all of mine have replaced some. Am also interested in Speedway mails from 1972 until it's closure if anyone can help get in touch I will of course pay the postage thanks.
  23. I agree Hasse chris is a very good rider,us as a nation we always knock always have done.Hope Chris gets his set up sorted he will be back us as a nation we are pretty fickle
  24. Jepsen Jensen will certainly never be world champion in my opinion, you are right to be able to gage how people are at 17 or18 is difficult I was impressed with this man thou still have not seen anyone better than Lee at aged 16/17 years old..
