How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?
stratton replied to rusky's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why wasn't MJJ ? I am not a fan he is a world class rider like Ward might need to put in another year to sort himself team wise equipment wise but should be no question unless thisyear he is a disaster which he won't be he is world class.I am not a mega fan but he is a good rider and even if he was half hearted would be able to compete no worries. -

It makes me laugh eaces1 because most people on here would of never said Iversen was borderline world class. Now people like you are jumping on the bandwagon and saying he is after 1 great season. He is the prime ex) of what i mean of world class ive always known that he was has just needed the consistency the same with Lindback in that respect he has progressed.Jensen and Janowski can compete at world level we have seen that are they as consistent maybe not but how many seasons has Lindgren had to stay at the level he is at.That is my point if a top 30 riders were announced, those 2 at the moment are in it so they can compete. As for someone else,s reminder of MJJ 00000 insane engine troubles in the qualifier that shows what a joke the qualifier is.He showed over the season at world level WTC U21s how good he was forget the EL as it was odvious he found that more of a hindrance than anything else. Also remember Iversen nearly got scanked in the qualifier ( why he was in it god knows)that was after being awesome all year in all leagues he certainly was in the top 6 riders in the world.Ok i will rephrase that word World class would they be out of place at world level no would certainly be able to mix it.You are not telling me those 2 are worse than Woffinden(who will surprise many and to me is another ex of someone who can compete at world level not consistent anough but that might come.As for GR he has took abuse beyond anything in my eyes very poor and believe what you want he has come out of it very well.Have a opinion by all means that's what it is all about! but please don't act superior and be so SURE( that's dangerous in life)of yourself. -

Ward at the moment is not at the level of the guys you have mentioned he has not proved it no more so than Jensen. He will do i am convinced of it hope so ability wise the best i have seen since Mike Lee and yes he will prove it why would you name Ward in front of a 1 time champ Gollob? -

Well done Witcher you gave a straight opinion , well done as for making you look a mug GR did that big time but we won't hold that against you. I am not fans of either of the two mentioned but they are both world class has Jensen already won a GP? no different to Vacuiliev he,s a talent to.Do you believe the 2 mentioned are that bothered about the EL they do they're best but they move on and have bigger eggs to fry. -

Na what is your problem!debate you haven't a clue you would be a great politician!Give an opinion GR made you look a mug big time, but so sad you really believe you are ahead of the game.Ive said Jensen and Magic are very talented with you ive no idea what your overall feeling is you twist things around to suit yourself. The 2 ive mentioned are they world class ?is that to hard for you to take in tying myself up in knots laughable. Debating with you is so easy because you haven't the confidence and conviction of your own opinions what spin and twisting things around will you come up with next.? -

Bewitcher have you a opinion? it dosent matter if you are right or wrong, have you conviction in your own opinion?.Jensen and Magic ive seen live x6 times and with there CV background and history both are certainly good anough at there best. Both mega quick, in the GPS a different test need a good team behind them and it is very difficult ability wise no problem to either. FORGET 6 pt averages in the EL they turn up do there best but other tests are there priority. -
Is this a joke! are they worried about getting a crap crowd? i am amazed buggered my day up big time.

Good post and you are totally right it would be boring,i am probably wrong most of the time but it isn't the end of the world is it!The points from others are valid and everyone to there own the debate i enjoy is about certain riders and era,s and i do enjoy reading others opinions believe it or not! Bwitcher a simple question, are Jensen and Janowski world class?the question GR asked they certainly ARE. Both are good anough to be full-time GP riders and there chance will come those two are a example of stats misleading you to a certain extent. -

It is not FACT get that out of your thoughts,is it set in stone your opinion NO .As for GR out of his depth that is laughable,he to me has talked sense and he isn't one of these in the no it all brigades. As for you Oldace give BWitcher a ring and you will be fine have you not got your own opinion! out of his depth he made you and BWitcher look like mugs. -

Could of been better if a GP Format would of had a few more opportunities. -

Yes so true WK do they want 39.39 all (old format) every week? ent going to happen ever in sport and competition. If you have a poor year you try and improve the next year and i have seen 50.28 score lines which have been entertaining.Often the winning side were better, wouldn't be so bad if this new trying to even things up thing have improved crowds have they? -

Your theory has substance but the worrying thing is that you are so sure no compromise it's your way or no way.You have some valid points figure,s wise you can only compare era,s by opinions! which is great not FACT as you suggested. My only points were that the standard of the EL is not as strong as yesteryear and even you got around to agreeing what GRW had said in the first place.Out of those riders i named in a GP format Autrey and Crump certainly would of rode in more than 5 finals between them are they less deserving than Lindgren(ect)? My main point is i am not saying i am right,i probably am not but something i have tried to tell my kids is to have there own views and never try to brainwash others to agreeing to there views. -
Hate challenge meeting,s in the main but the line up looks interesting,Tully who i thought might get a few EL chances coming in at 7.Cook and Auty have a big year ahead of them hopefully making progress.

Someone who highlighted that in Morton,s intercontinental final win he only scraped through the British final. That said it all really the meeting then and now is just like chalk and cheese. The likes of Collins,Jessup,Lee, as (ex) all at one time or another got eliminated at that stage so it shows the level was high. Some riders then would of loved the GP series as they would of always been in it none of the hardship of qualifying everyear. Riders for (ex) like Crump,Autrey,Louis,Ashby,Wilson,E.Boocock for all there ability when looking back had average world final records. -

What do you mean how dare you ! Na only joking won't be going there again! Bewitcher the only laugh i have had is off of you, you got yourself going around in circles. All you had to say was i don't like comparing different era,s simples people respect that. But you ended up telling us what most people had already said the EL is not at the greatest standard now you got there in the end!! -

Harris i admire as a rider, but you are underating Morton big time,to reach a one off final was harder for starters. Also the GP Series is nearly a closed shop harder to get out of than in!Did Mort win the intercontinental final and a top class BLRC beating a peak Nielsen? Bearing in mind then one mistake and you are out of the running, none of this scrounging through to a semi on 7 pts and then winning the Final.I think you need to do your research on Morton,s career. -

Very similar in style both out and out racers, Morton was one of the most exciting riders i ever saw.Morton 1979 til 1984 his best years certainly was world class Hyde Rd at times he was awesome! -
Great rider and at his peak and as somebody else said you didn't expect him to lose.So professional i see him ride at Poole once for the falcons 1974 he was awesome he wore flash White leathers.Have a great retirement Ivan with Rae good luck in the future.

Correct Addio i agree, and where Young rates with his fellow Aussie stars god knows he would be up there. But my main point is about the general quality then and numbers now no more.Of course we will all differ in opinions about riders that will never change off the subject my friend who is a Man U Season ticket holder and a supporter since 1961.He said in the pubs there is always debate about who was better Best or Ronaldo he says all age group opinions differ that's what i mean about having a opinion it isn't clouded or fact just your own. -

BWitcher you seem the guy confused what you have said is your opinion not Fact! Also ok don't take my word on it in the 60s and 70s there are endless other members on here who will tell you and the Norbold,s of this world will tell you more what the level was.Ok an (ex) Mauger averaged 11.74 ok you want to take 2 points off his average does that change my perception of him no it's there all in the history books and my personal experience of seeing him.My Point of some years being 18 and 20 teams in the league just showed you the numbers you had to pick from that was without including no8s and juniors and a terrific div 2.Now could we fill 18 EL teams with the right quality? -

Your the fool so anyone who disagrees with you is a fool?you have a opinion and say it is fact it is just your opinion. If you look back to the first post nobody even mentioned averages figures. All that was said was in Britain the strength in depth quality and quantity is not there anymore that was mentioned in the 13/15 heat debate is that to hard for you to digest? Britain now is not the no1 place to be that's the way it is you and Bewitcher twist things to suit yourselves but you are welcome to believe what you think. An (ex)of the difference between the 70s and present day are Swindon had Briggs/Ashby. Leicester had Wilson,Boulger,Jessup, Belle vue had Mauger,Sjosten,Collins.Last year Birmingham had Pedersen, King,Ulamek, Eastbourne had Kylmakorpi,Gustafsson,Lahti. Belle vue had Schlein, Cook,Gjedde any difference ! -

Not CORRECT just an opinion like yours, so don't act all self righteous the simplest way to explain to you is.Mauger, Briggs, Olsen were all class as are Ward, Holder, Gollob. All those as examples would have coped in any era, because class comes to the top they would of adjusted to the changes needed can you grasp that!! I think i will admit defeat, some people's opinions are gospel and fact. I have learned from some that whatever sport you have watched you cannot compare anything have a opinion very strange.
