Yes Gary Petersen was my first vivid memory of a death in sport,really horrible even though my uncle had told me about the passing of the popular Pole TEO ( rode for the Robins)at West Ham.I see Vic ride four or five times and he was progressing but the main memory of him is that everyone that has spoke about him all say what a nice man he was he never will be forgotten.

My point is are the rules in place right? you are correct in what you are saying about rules being abused.But does this incident show the EL is in big trouble fixtures the riders running to a to tighter schedule it will happen again riders missing flights.Would you rather stick to the rigid inflexible rules and have depleted teams put on show.Surely this is an entertainment business people getting value for what they believe they are paying for.You wouldn't go out for a meal pay for the works steak(ect) and then just except sausage and chips would you! is there any difference.

The Belle Vue promotion made a huge mistake by lying but did they have any choice?with the non flexible pathetic rules in place.You would of thought they could of explained they're position to the board and maybe get guests in to make the match competetive.It is not about winning or losing,surely if people are paying 17 pounds they expect to have full and competetive teams on show and this would not of been the case.I am not defending Belle Vue in anyway just stating that some of these rules are pathetic that's why i agreed with Poole being able to call there match off.Again the paying customer would of been getting robbed ,some people will say Swindon rode at King,s Lynn weakened also at home to Birmingham( that match should of been called off) does it make it right.?This episode shows why the EL has to change and as for the rules rip the book up and start again.

I agree 99 per cent with you on most things and the debate with you is always good.Was 1981 that good?there were some isolated good races but the race that sticks with me was when Lee got squeezed out in his first race.The occasion was special atmosphere awesome the same in 1975(dusty) 1978 not so good?. But do i remember 81 for the racing or the unbelievable occasion in my experience 1981 and the Mike Tyson/Francis/Calzaghe bill are the best two sporting events i have ever been to. Great post!

Great occasions against Collins ( stadium packed) Mike Lee, Bruce Penhall, did he race against the mighty Shawn Moran? i think so?

A terrible meeting the racing was very poor, but as an occasion the atmosphere was electric.For me the presentation on Eurosport was superb Sophie Blake/ Scott Nicholls outstanding far superior to Sky.I know some people will be disappointed but it did come across very well on the tv which is encouraging.If i am being honest the times i went to Wembley one off finals were they great meeting,s? No (1981(overrated?).Were they great occasions Yes, so i believe alot of people will have come home having had a great weekend the overall experience so it is not all doom and gloom in my opinion.

I would disagree with that Ernest Holland, the latter five you mentioned are in my opinion are all better? A great chance for someone to gatecrash the series now.?

Chuffed Somerset won it a great track, for me a breath of fresh air would i love them to be in the EL a big yes.More and likely a one big league could be in place so they would be a big flag bearer, a great racing track progressive could it be a British Final venue it should be!
