  1. Was Alan Knapkin a late starter? improved later as a rider was an exciting rider around Odsal didn't he have his own business which made speedway difficult to concentrate on.
  2. Doctor i never ever met the man,but had heard from others what a gent he was helping endless youngsters over the years.A great ambassador for our sport in 1972 Streety averaged 5.28 but in 1974 at the age of 43 averaged 7.70 saying that i believe his top average was ? 8.28 in 1966 for Exeter a legend.
  3. A couple of riders come to mind for me i know they didn't do it over a long period but the two were Neil Street and Graham Drury.Streety i know he had a massive advantage with his conversion but he had one real good year upped his average considerably.Drury who was always a decent rider really upped his game reached the BLRC on merit and was a genuine no1 in the averages.
  4. How did this bloke ever get a testimonial? loads of good loyal good hearted riders over the years never got bugger all.
  5. Doyle,Cook,Heeps,Kerr,Fricke,Henry(before injury)Rosen also Greenwood up there has made good progress.
  6. Yes Carter would of had a great chance in 85 at Odsal if fit,i don't know if it would of been a favourites chance though.I am saying this because i felt he wasn't quite as dominant there than he had been at the Shay.
  7. Great point Shawn in that meeting had a great race with Per in heat 16 which he won.Shawn i believe was a better rider than Ermolenko also Sigalos was in my opinion but credit where it is due Sam did the business. As much as i was a big fan of Carter i never really believed he would win the title in 81,82, or 83,.
  8. As much as the series now is very good WK, i watch and enjoy most of the time it does not create the excitement of those one off finals never will.As you have said endless times about the qualifying system it was unfair at times and brutal but sport at the top level should be brutal that is what makes sport and competition special.
  9. It certainly has and that is a fact, no flexibility in the fixtures with rain offs a total nightmare to fit in all the meetings. With the change of the WC from the one off final to the series were the leagues properly COMPENSATED for the inconvenience over the years i think not.
  10. Great race a terrific rider. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1O3ij8AnGJU&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D1O3ij8AnGJU
  11. A poor GP i feel, but it was great to see Gollob back mixing it pleased for him that pass of Hancock on the inside vintage.!
  12. Grass roots how can you have a proper go at it when our lads can't get the track time.In Poland you can go to a track seven days a week and other nations are alot more forward than us.The blokes who are in charge of our grass roots are doing as best as they can most i think are giving up there own time for next to nothing. Here this country is a nightmare health and safety on the brain local residents having to much of a say in noise curfews (ect). it is pie in the sky to believe if it stays the same for us to improve much.
  13. Good points EC without the odvious stars,is there a massive difference on a going day for most left in.Apart from a few improvers Kildemand it looks a very good product and league to me.
  14. Some much? not pissed again are you? he has a shout no doubt about it i like him others at that track might have more of a shout than him.
  15. What prices do people recon for the PLRC ? Cook 2/1 Doyle 5/2, Bech 9/2 ? Morris 12/1 Auty 16/1 Bach 22/1 i can't see anyone else featuring maybe Alden at his best decent.
  16. Are you surprised ER? we have two Brits in our side yet he gives that kind of response.Ash did say he was disappointed with certain comments he has my full support and endless others and if Scunny are not in one big league i would love him to comeback.
  17. Different gravy than we have now,and the National league was decent also with both the Owen's (ect).
  18. Would you rather the league stay as it is or are you open minded Scorpion? If the leagues changed would you be up for different sides visiting i personally would love to visit different tracks.
  19. Spot on really that's what i like about the PL you generally no the 1- 7 of of most teams most weeks. The fans can identify with that as with the EL the opposite. Endless guests, R/R, D /Uppers. ( which they need bigtime ) missing everyweek changes galore.
  20. So if there was a change a inferior Product as you call it? would you still go? i would because i love speedway and would still go whatever level.!
  21. Great for Swindon and the rest because Swindon is a special club keeps on going. The sponsors well are gems and longterm i am very hopeful saying that Swindon is a massive part of British speedway surviving.Swindon,Poole!Lynn, and endless long serving clubs need to be preserved whatever the future is.
  22. A great year for the lad and as you said he will get there with a bit more experience.Newcastle over the years have spotted some great talent and always seem to pull one out of the bag.
  23. I thought you went before that Grachan, John Sutton god i had forgot him spot on.Guthrie i really first took notice of him at the 1973 New Zealand v Sweden test match he was one of those announcers that he was that good you took him for granted at the job he did a real compliment in itself.
