  1. The crowds in the play/offs were poor on other years as well, if we are honest something has to change.
  2. But with a champion and play/offs as well the season is still alive for the top four it even gives the Champion a chance of the double what is wrong with that.?
  3. I can't ever remember going and seeing the Robins ever win at the Wick,?it was always hard loved the eight o'clock Friday slot a real nice race track.Did have u/tube on the other night "Terry" a Hackney v Poole 1983 encounter,Thommo producing one brilliant ride loved Thommo as a rider great value.
  4. Why do they have outright CHAMPONS in the football league? is it to REWARD the best team over the entire season no different to a GP series.
  5. All those days i enjoyed very much "Norbold" i was not lucky anough to see from 1960 onwards i started going in 1969 have been going ever since.Another meeting that sticks out for me was a Swindon v Halifax meeting 63-15 Ian Cartwright the only visiting rider to split a home pair a right mauling.
  6. The thing is Witcher i am not against the play /offs at all,but you still have to have an outright CHAMPION surely. Is it right that a team like Birmingham the other year won nothing were points clear never changed there team yet were not recognised. I think the play/offs with the Champion and the other three teams would be great it is not like we are overloaded with home fixtures is is.?And in Football as a ex) they have play/offs but still have an outright CHAMPION of that league.
  7. I was sorting through all of my 1976 programmes and it really brought some great memories flooding back.Ashby beating the great Tommy Jansson 2.0 in the helmet at the Abbey Tommy then winning the decider seven days later at Cradley.Finn Thomsen scoring a massive 20 (paid 21 out of 8 rides (on an oversized engine???).And later on in the season Briggo returning with Hull to the Abbey scoring 11 points after a heat 1 exclusion under the time rule.I wondered which of you have similar memories, and particular meetings stick out in your mind 1972 to 1976 were the years i loved the most great days.
  8. Your point on Howarth not riding the line are spot on, maybe a change of Pl track a more technical track might help.Doyle we all know he should of been at Swindon for the last two years but it was not to be.He had a couple of great double up years at Somerset kept fit earned plenty of point money and at times was riding seven days a week. Now he has built his GP kit up and he is there on merit a massive achievement in the scale of things. A real example to others that you can kick on,but at the end of the day you still have to have the ability.
  9. With the GPS having a massive impact on British speedway and the lack of EL teams. The danger for me is people get out of the habit of going to speedway regularly anyway, last year at times two or three weeks without a meeting.People have now found other things to do and therefore pick and choose there meetings where before they would be there week after week.
  10. For me i go to see as many home meetings that are put on the fixture list, mainly for the entertainment value good racing a good night out winning means nothing to me to be honest.
  11. I have seen it from both angles 20 home meetings plus challenges individual meetings test matches (ect ) this Play/off nonsense is a myth surely you must be starved of the lack of home meetings.?
  12. Are you telling me an EL club that now has many staggered meeting's 10 or 12 home meeting's tops?.Often us supporters at home get in the habit of not going with rain/offs lack of meeting's the bloody GPS dictating everything.Surely that extra carrot for the fans would be good wouldnt it? enlighten me Orion how many home meeting's are there.?
  13. I can't ever remember anybody on this forum really rating Doyle,i always felt he was unlucky with injury also he never really rode Poole that great in my opinion.Maybe Auty has not improved but i still think he as as good as those other three mentioned he also has averaged more in the PL than all of the other three. Also he did ok for Birmingham in a top five like Howarth did ( who really impressed me for Swindon in a top five the other two have not yet stepped up into a top 1/ 5. I see him everyweek in a top five and he did really well, held his own the other three mentioned two of them have never been tested in a top 1/5 scenario.
  14. Are you telling me the supporters in the top four would not care less about a couple of semis? we had endless cup competitions before Midland cup ko cup(ect). If it was announced in March has to be good dosen't it god how many HOME meeting's are there anyway not many.Or would you just rather have a team who wins the league by ten points but still ends up winning nothing?
  15. What order ? Garrity,Newman,Auty,Howarth.
  16. Could you not have a league winner? and three others to have two semis in a fa cup style cup competition hardly rocket science eh!!
  17. Not saying Garrity will ever make it amongst the big boys, but he is a better rider than Newman.Newman i like but to say he is the best draft rider is laughable, very good at home unproven in the top five never has done it ( or had to prove he is up to it? poor rules) .tTo even mention Newman in a WTC squad next year is laughable in my humble opinion.
  18. I am not getting on my horse, but what is different nothing planned as usual MICKY MOUSE comes to mind every year nothing in place. If you had an impartial body looking at things for the benefit of the whole sport,i am sure things would be pushed through quicker two many people looking after there own self interests.
  19. Should the rules be there in black/white set in stone that everybody know year to year maybe with a bit of tinkering here and there. The season ended in October everything should of been done and dusted by now things put into place for the 2016 season.
  20. Freddie was eight years older than Peter he finished in 1956, Peter rode another seven years until he was killed in 1963 only aged 29' probably nearing his peak so really you cannot compare them to be honest they were at different stages of there career's. I am sure if Freddie had have met Peter in those other seven years Craven would of won most of there battles.
  21. They will prob win the league but against who? a mediocre league nothing against Ford i admire what he has achieved some of it hardly rocket science to be honest. Just they have a bit more scope and clout to and Want ?.to do anything they want as for Newman should he not nearly be in the top 5 full time with the progress he has made.?
  22. God this sport is run with stupid rules averages (ect) it is the be all and end all,why can't the promoters all get together and try make sure the product gets better the entertainment value surely that is the most important thing. Ok it is great winning but the way thing's are going there won't be healthy competition why can't all the rules be TRANSPARENT simplified so everybody knows where they stand nobody trying to get a sneaky advantage speedway in this country never changes.
  23. I think with no Emil/Darcy about,he has every chance of winning 6 titles. My opinion is Pawlicki could be his longterm threat with other Poles waiting in the wings Dudek(ect). But unless the established brigade pick there game up,Tai is the man to beat for the next few years.
  24. Both Briggo/Ivan said Mirac was a better rider than the both of them a true legend. So Proud of Briggos world final record missed out only in 1971 ( i think the Anglo Nordic Final???in Scotland ???1954 until 1972 not bad going.
  25. The other sides must be pretty weak then "Waihekeaces1", not for me anyway does not excite me at all.
