  1. I personally don't get all the fuss. It's a family sport and we save a lot of money if taking kids with us compared to some tracks so huge bonus. My grandad has more money now than when working as less to do with it & gets more help towards cost of things so he has no complaints. It's those of us that are working now that are worse off what with pay freezes & pay cuts.
  2. When you look at the reserves from 2011, 6 seasons ago and what level they are at now, it makes you realise how much they have progressed compared to Newman. Riders who rode at reserve at the same time as Newman include: Doyle, North, Cook, Morris, Pawlicki, Summers. Newman is miles off being in the same ability as them. Auty is another who seems to have spent years as a reserve. PL progression: avg 2014 start: 5.32 avg now: 6.84 If you look at where Garrity was in 2011, he was riding in the NL and didn't get a EL reserve spot until 2014. In that time he progressed lots and made British Final semi/Final and scored points for fun at reserve. After only 2 years he has moved up to the top 5 and took that chance. It might work for him or it might be too soon but credit to him for having ambition to try. Pl progression: avg 2014 start: 5.31 avg now: 8.46
  3. Aarnio ruled out for the Diamonds with recurring knee injury Adam Roynon has hurt his wrist but is able to continue riding
  4. Sunday March 27, 2016 COVENTRY Storm kick off their challenge for honours in the Travel Plus National League with a home match against Eastbourne on Easter Monday (4pm). The City Gearboxes Storm have been top-four finishers in the last two seasons, and that is the initial target once again if they are to contest the play-offs. A team of improving riders are well fancied to do just that, with new signing Liam Carr having greatly impressed at Premier League level when he scored 7+1 for Berwick at Redcar on Thursday. Opponents Eastbourne were runners-up last season and suffered their heaviest defeat when they went down 32-57 at Brandon on the final day of the campaign. But their hopes for 2016 have already been hit by the loss of new No.1 Kyle Hughes the Coventry asset crashing out of their challenge match defeat to Kent on Friday and suffering a broken leg. In his place the Eagles have called up Ellis Perks a rider with a point to prove as he is set to lose his team place at the Isle of Wight to guest, and will also operate rider-replacement for injured captain Richard Andrews. But they also have plenty of NL experience in the likes of Ben Hopwood and Jake Knight, whilst Georgie Wood is one of the sports rising stars. Coventry boss Laurence Rogers said: Eastbourne are thirsting for revenge for our trouncing of them at the last meeting of 2015 so we should be in for a good afternoons racing. As far as were concerned, I feel weve got three cracking heat-leaders, two lads in the second-string spots who are going to push them, and two reserves who have a lot of potential. These boys are the future, and you only have to look back at the last meeting of last season. The racing was absolutely superb and I think Martin (Knuckey) against Bradley Wilson-Dean was a race which will remain with everyone for ever! Admission prices for Storm matches are confirmed as: All Adults £12, All Under-16s Free. CITY GEARBOXES STORM (from): Liam Carr, Conor Dwyer, Dan Greenwood, Jamie Halder, Martin Knuckey, Ryan Terry-Daley, Callum Walker. EASTBOURNE (from): Richard Andrews R/R, Ben Hopwood, Jake Knight, Nick Phillips, Ellis Perks, Charley Powell, Georgie Wood.
  5. It's Coventry Bees/Storm. Sarjeant is in the main team and bees using NL riders in Knuckey & Carr to replace Garrity & Bates and give them experience. Well done on the Win Bees. Sounds like a good meeting for both teams, esp after the heavy rain. Good luck to Glasgow in the PL. one of the strongest sides in it 👍🏻
  6. Here's the draft list so anybody below him on it http://www.speedwaygb.co/files/downloads/el16_issue_1.pdf
  7. Meeting delayed due to a very heavy shower. Hopefully the meeting will go ahead as Glasgow have done a lot to promote it. Hoping everybody stays safe though if conditions are now tricky.
  8. Riders like Auty & Newman have been at reserve for 6 years!! At least Auty has rode in Birmingham's top 5 though at some point. You would hope after 6 years Newman would have progressed. Garrity only spent 2 years at reserve. At this point in time Garrity has a higher EL & PL average than Newman so is the better rider at present. Stats don't lie.
  9. Meant to be starting knocking it down end of this season 😥
  10. 1. Woffinden 2. Holder 3. Hancock 4. Pedersen 5. Iversen 6. Zmarlik 7. Doyle 8. Zmarlik 9. Jonsson 10. Hampel (if misses season start) 11. Zagar 12. Kildemand 13. Pawlicki 14. Harris 15. Lindback
  11. Sky Sports Speedway coverage will start April 4th with King's Lynn v Coventry we will be showing Wolves at home soon as we sort fixture out The Wolves v Belle Vue fixture on 29th March is no longer on sky due to a poor weather forecast
  12. Exactly. I think they will be a lot stronger at home so don't think they will be running scared
  13. Good luck to both sides. Let's hope for an injury free meeting. Good to see Coventry using Coventry Storm riders at reserve. Good practice for them before tomorrow.
  14. Has anybody seen Josh Bates video from the track on Facebook. Would be very surprised if it doesn't get rained off. Doubt the racing will be up to much if track is soaking as video & pictures show. Don't want any injuries
  15. Lol must have been drinking at the time 😂😂
  16. I think Leicester will do well at home this season. It's away they will struggle even with the reserve pairing. Bates & Sarjeant both struggle at Leicester & Kacper hadn't ridden there before. If the weather behaves then I predict 50-40
  17. Watching Leicester last night, I was confused how they could have a rider 3rd on tier 1 and still have the 1st tier 2 rider? Does anybody know how it was done this year as very uneven. Below are each reserve pairing and the number they are graded in their tier. Belle Vue: Worrall (2nd) & Jacobs (16th) Coventry: Bates (7th) &. Sarjeant (5th) King's Lynn: Wikinson (8th) & Rose (11th) Lakeside Kerr (4th) & Mear (10th) Leicester: Auty (3rd) & Starke (1st) Poole: Newman (6th😂) & Ellis (7th) Swindon: Wright (5th) & Nielson (6th) Wolverhampton: Howarth (1st) & Clegg (12th)
  18. Some people will moan for sake of moaning. OAPs are better off than most students. My grandparents are better off now they get pension and help towards bills plus rent free than they were when working 20years ago. It definetly didn't affect the crowd last night. Too be honest there seem to be a huge amount of younger fans esp in the stands anyway so that's positive for the sport. Kids getting in free helps families enjoy it together. Good to see a large amount of travelling fans as well.
  19. The crowd was large yesterday so not sure it's making any differences.
  20. Congratulations to Chris Harris on his paid maximum. I couldn't fault our top three who hardly dropped a point between them. Very promising signs from Kacper who is already showing potential. Shame he broke down when leading. Garrity was dreadful tonight. He over rode and had no power. Few more meetings like that and he will be back at reserve anyway. I think Leicester have one of the top reserve pairings in the league (can anybody explain how they have the 1st & 3rd graded riders from the tier lists?) our reserves should be okay against some pairing but are our weakness against stronger ones like Leicester, Poole & Wolves. Sarjeant puzzles me as seems to struggle for the meeting and has a great win in heat 12 against Poole & Leicester. I think Leicester have a very poor top 5 so they will have to really hope their reserves don't pick up any injuries as they kept them in it tonight. Their reserves scored 19 of their points. I think Leicester will be a lot stronger at home Another big crowd tonight
  21. Why? I thought the track was really good tonight and there was a lot of overtaking. Even KK was racing instead of gating.
  22. I think this will be very close. Auty should score big at reserve on his former home track.
