  1. Manchester City Council and BV Arena Limited have confirmed the intention to carry out urgent repair works to a number of sections of the circuit so as to ensure that it is able to successfully host [top flight] speedway events at the new National Speedway Stadium. The decision follows investigations into defects in two sections of the track which came to light due to recent inclement weather and which, along with recent weather conditions, has rendered the track surface unsuitable for racing. Whilst it is disappointing to have to cancel further events, the priority of both the Council and Belle Vue is to ensure the safety of the riders and also the quality of the racing for spectators. They are however confident that the scheduled repair works will provide a permanent solution to the problems that have been experienced since the opening and that the track will be fully operational very soon. Updates on progress of the works and scheduling of race meetings to take place at the stadium will follow next week.
  2. Isn't that a step backwards for him. Easy wins for him in NL league as more of a development league. Wouldn't PL have been better for him.
  3. At least it looks sorted now. Now we just need changes so we have a team worth watching 😉
  4. Nothing was announced before Coventry meetings. Sometimes it could be good advertisement for the sport as people might not have seen much speedway before so the periscope feeds could give them more idea. It's not like people are going to see any to tempt them anywhere else if Sky are going to call off every meeting for even the slight threat of a shower.
  5. Official Buildbase Coventry Speedway Website Home Latest News Fixtures/Statistics Club Admission Riders Corporate Fans History Gallery STUDENT ADMISSION - UPDATE Friday April 08, 2016 AS announced in our previous statement, we have been working on a way forward to enable us to offer £5 admission to the genuine, bona fide student community. The sheer size of increase in student admissions over the opening meetings of the season was such that we had no option but to carry out a review. Our student offer was always designed to benefit those in full-time education, whether studying for A-Levels etc at school, or on a full-time University course. It was not intended for those doing part-time or evening classes in addition to drawing a full-time salary. We are now in a position to re-instate the £5 student admission rate for those in full-time education only, on production of the following information: a) Students still at school - a brief letter from school secretary/tutor on headed paper stating that the student is in full-time education. University students - NUS card plus brief letter from university academic/tutor on headed paper stating course details and that it is a full-time course. When these are produced at the turnstiles for the first time, names will be added to a list in order to speed entry on future occasions. We hope these measures enable those for whom the student admission offer is intended for to be able to benefit, and we thank those who have been in touch with constructive comments over the last week. 6. Wouldn't they just use guests if riders were missing?
  7. Belle Vue V Leicester - OFF Due to this week's inclement weather plus tomorrow's inconsistent forecast. Re-staging to be confirmed.
  8. Bridger was always going to be a rider who did well at Lakeside but crap away and this is whilst he is motivated.
  9. Lakeside keeping it close so far. AJ sounds like he is flying 👍🏻
  10. Completely agree 👍🏻 Some people are moaning saying they won't be going this season then, but they might not have a season to go to next year. I hope those same people don't moan about having no stadium or team to support if they aren't attending this year based on having to pay the same as the rest of us. I do think though that if we perform as badly at home as last time, any new fans that started watching over last 2 years when always winning, won't stick with it.
  11. Looking at the line up of other PL teams, I think there are a few that look much stronger this year. I think without changes this side will struggle. I think if no injuries then Glasgow have to be one of the favourites this year. Strong throughout.
  12. The weather forecast doesn't look good http://m.bbc.co.uk/weather/2645456/tomorrow
  13. Was there a rearranged stock cars at King's Lynn today? Could that effect the track for tomorrow? The weather forecast doesn't look very good now either http://m.bbc.co.uk/weather/2645456/tomorrow
  14. I watched the Liverpool match and recorded the pairs as wasn't over fussed about some of the line ups. I watched the first couple of heats & turned it off as found it boring. It was better when they rode as countries in the pairs.
  15. Can maybe understand sky but why have king's Lynn already called it off based on a ever changing forecast?
  16. Adam injured his wrist riding for his PL club
  17. This Leicester side looked good against Sheffield home & away.
  18. Garrity rode well last night beating Kylmakorpi, Masters, Thorssell & Bech. He scored more than his average and still can improve. Kacper has been riding to his average and more. Can't fault his effort but Horton messed up signing a 4pt rider in the main body of the team. As a squad member he would be great. King would be ok if we could bring in a rider with a higher average so that he was a 2nd string instead of a heatleader.
  19. He got up so the race could continue and pulled in to the centre as couldn't continue round as hurt his hand.
  20. Leicester have one of the strongest reserve pairings in the league as well
  21. Taken from Twitter: Kaspazak went to the funeral of a close family member in the morning, flew in in the afternoon & mad dash to Brandon. No one would have complained if he didn't ride in the circumstances but he made the effort & was unlucky on the night. He has shown more commitment so far this season than in the past.
  22. I agree with muffinman. It's okay Horton blaming it on the riders underperforming but a lot of them are riding to their average or how you would have expected them to. It's the fact he built a team so far under the point limit & signed 2 reserve riders who are lower down their tiers. When you look at the meetings so far & averages: KASPAZAK (7.91) scores so far 12,10,4 Last night he had bike problems but when on the right equipment he is capable of beating most riders. I have been impressed with him so far in 1st two meetings. GARRITY (5.08) scores so far 3,3,2,5,7 He could have been scoring big at reserve but he can't be added to list now. He's had a lot of problems with his bikes but recorded a better score last night. I think he will be very up and down in main team. Unpredictable at moment. KING (6.48) scores so far 6,2,12,5,5 The problem is he should never have been on the heatleader list to start with. He spent most of last year as a 2nd string. When on form he can be brilliant to watch at home but so up and down. I think he would be fine as our 2nd string if another heatleader is brought in May. He's going to struggle as a heatleader esp away. He got his 6pt average as a 2nd string for most part. WORYNA (4.00) scores so far 7,5,4,3,5 Kacper has ridden a lot better than I thought he would and has scored his average or above in most meetings. He has potential. The problem is Horton has signed a 4pt rider as a 2nd string when some of the reserves have higher averages. He should have been signed as our 8th rider to get experience if others were missing. HARRIS (7.34) score so far 13,9,13,7,10 The scores say it all. I've no concerns about Harris. He's allowed an off meeting now and then but for most part is scoring way above his average. BATES (3.26) scores so far 3,7,4,7 Bates is giving 100% for bees but I don't think he is strong enough as a 1st reserve & was surprised he was on the list. He has extra pressure on him due to Sarjeant struggling. He's proven he can beat some of the top reserves but a worry away from Brandon. SARJEANT (3.00) scores so far 2,4,4 James is one of my biggest concerns. He looks off pace and low on confidence for most of the meeting and is being beaten by 2nd reserves that he has the ability to beat. Then he comes out in heat 12 and beats Newman, Auty, Ellis & Starke. He's baffling. Frustrating as he has shown in the past he's a good rider but seems to be going backwards. So out of the team Horton put together it's only Sarjeant and to a point King who I think are underperforming based on ability. The biggest let down was Horton when putting the team together and being so far under the point limit.
  23. @SpeedwayLions fixture with @OfficialCovBees will now be re-staged on Monday 27th June at 7.30 pm
  24. Exactly. They should have signed Joonas as our heatleader & then added King in May when heatleader list was no longer used. Still not sure how Buzz & King can both have same average and yet only one is on the heatleader list.
